That's a pretty rude post CK. A little compassion here.

Can you please restate this in a way that our Jets members can comprehend. :shifty:

I'll say it again, the linesman should have waited a split second to make his call. When it did go to review, the officials got it correct.

As far as the int, I have no idea why it didn't go to replay, but it had no bearing on the outcome of the game.

If teams really are biting on our running backs as much as the end-around indicated, and at the same time they're not biting on play-action because they feel like Chad Henne has a 'tell' on his fakes...then the answer is probably more end-arounds and more flea-flickers.

That will anger the masses, but it could be what needs doing.

He's just mad that he doesn't know everything. I respect what he says about the players, but I don't agree with him on officials.

Chad Henne's compensation is tied to the officials getting the calls right and not calling a bunch of his incompletions as interceptions. He's a part of the NFL too.

If you equate the interests of Dol-Fans purely with the interests of the owner of the Miami Dolphins, yes, you should.

Personally, I don't. I'm a fan of the team. That doesn't mean I have the same interests as the owner. I'm not looking to screw the players out of compensation. Nor am I looking for the players to screw the owners into being in a situation where they can't compete.

True, or simply design a different play action motion, one where the Qb comes closer to the Running Back, Boomer Esiason used to do it that way.

And yet the call was wrong, because the actual on-field course of events was not upheld. We were basically asked, “Who do you believe—us, or your lying eyes?” Roethlisberger fumbled. Alama-Francis and Randy Starks fell on the ball. There is photographic evidence of this. The officials standing over the pile yelled “White ball! White ball!” indicating a Dolphins possession.

You say the call was right, but it wasn’t. The procedure was right according to NFL rules. The call was incorrect.

    That’s not the point.

What does his play action look like compared to how he carries out and finishes an "actual" run? Same form, motion, speed etc?

on the Fasano drop I believe the defender tipped the pass also the defender did hit Palmer in the face with his hand on the roughing the passer.

I was referring to a different drop, the one that happened on a rollout right on the door step of the end zone.

    1) there is not proof that we got the ball, there is no video showing us having the ball. What you see is two Dolphins players around the ball, that's not proof.

    2) I agree that the officials missed the int, but what most fans don't understand is that it really didn't matter, it wasn't going to change the outcome of the game. If it would have been important to the game, it would have been reviewed.

Well, let's say "sure" go back to last week, 4th qtr, two minutes left, Henne drops back and throws the ball to Fasano, it hits him in the hands, and he drops it..putting us in either 3rd and 9, or 4th and 9.

This is not some new problem with him.

Is it feasible to fake PA hand off with an empty hand? I seem to remember someone with this style. Maybe not as convincing but just thinking out loud...

Good write up as usual CK.

No kidding. The dropsies were in full force today. Some BIG plays left out on the field. That's in part why I haven't criticized Henne's production today. Think about what his stats would look like if Hartline doesn't drop the ball that hits his chest in stride on that flea flicker. Think what his stats may look like if Fasano catches that ball on the rollout and runs it for a TD. What about that BIG PLAY that Henne dialed up to Pat Cobbs that he dropped? Or if Roberto Wallace hadn't played like a junior varsity player on that one play, running out of bounds on purpose and then coming back in, being the first guy to touch the ball, and even worse dropping it?

Literally a slew of mistakes like that could be the difference between Henne having a statistical banner day, and having the day he had.

    This is where we disagree.

For the INTEGRITY of the game, making the correct call 100% of the time is the ONLY choice.

Completely and utterly false. I hate rehashing this damn topic one week later in a totally unrelated thread, but damn it…

#59 Ikaika Alama-Francis landed on the ball. The black-gloved hand you see extended left to right is attached to #94 Randy Starks. The white hand you see grabbing Starks’ arm is attached to Ben “One of their guys jumped on it, and it squirted between them, so I was able to grab it under the pile” Roethlisberger.

More importantly: the officials who bothered to do their jobs properly by following the action after the on-field ruling said “White ball! White ball!” Two officials on the field declared the Dolphins in possession of the ball.

Chris Clemons forced Ben Roethlisberger to fumble before he crossed the goal line and Ikaika Alama-Francis recovered the football. This is all backed up by video evidence.

You are missing the point. It’s not that reviewing the pass and overturning the interception ruling would have changed the outcome of the game, but rather the fact that the on-field ruling was wrong and the officials did not bother to correct themselves via replay is indicative of a lazy, “let’s get out of here” mentality. They were more interested in letting the game end than in getting the correct call.

Okay, in the interest of not stinking CK’s thread up any longer, I’m done.

I'm not chomping at the bit to upgrade the TE position like some are.

Or how many Int's we could of had of our DB's could catch? CC should of had to on TO alone. First one he dropped and TO took it in for a TD, the second was in the endzone and the ball was under thrown, if CC would have turned around, it would have hit him in the chest.

Exactly, and Henning catches all sort of crap for being a bad OC, the problem is there are guys who are in proper position to perform and piss it away game after game after game.

Ryan Baker had sweet tipped pass today, he is improving.

And have to wonder, has ST improved due to Tim Dobbins playing on the unit full time?

In my opinion, this is the main reason why we struggle to throw deep downfield. Defenses don't respect our run (both in terms of grinding out yardage and/or in terms of breaking off long runs) so they focus on taking away the only other thing that can result in "home run" plays (the deep ball).

The one he popped up to Owens for the TD was the most inexcusable. The other one I was fine with. That latter one was like the Vontae Davis breakup. They could have absolutely intercepted the balls as it hit both on the hands but they would have been pretty incredible plays.

But at least Sean Smith snagged the ball when it came right to him. Really good bit of zone coverage on his part.

If the receivers and tight ends execute well, Henne throws for over 300 yards with a pair of touchdowns.

And I think we need a pure Receiving Te, a Vet like LJ Smith because Fasano is miscast as a receiver, his hands are two shakey.
