Should we consider replacing Nolan Carroll as KR who had a 40 time of 4.39 with Pat Cobbs whose 40 time was only 4.68? I know Cobbs is a Sparano favorite but isn't there a faster guy for this role?

I wish we still had Jalen Parmele on this roster. His 40 time was 4.47 and he could have added something as both a KR and a speed back.

(Honestly, I don't know why Cobbs is even on the roster?)

I'd rather use Bess as a KR than Cobbs.

he did better than Carroll did last week when he came in...truth is, they both suck at the job.

I'm not exactly certain what Cobbs does do well CJ, and I have said as much since Training Camp.

Just in case anyone gets hurt. He's doesn't excel at anything but can play a lot of positions. Think utility infielder.

I could be wrong, but injury is the reason Carroll is being replaced, isn't it ?? I agree that Cobbs is too slow or something, he just doesn't have it on returns, however, what are our other options ?? We've also seen that Bess isn't the answer on PRs, but he's there by necessity.... Is Wallace or Moore better options ?? We have to assume not....

Removing Lex Hilliard and Patrick Cobbs and replacing them with two young fast backs would be great.

Yeah, but 4.68 is a bigger number. It must be better.

I'm rooting for Moore or Wallace. IMHO Hartline has enough on his plate already.

Kick Returner has to be the most instinctive position in football. Catch the ball see the lanes, read the blocks and attack the holes. If anything would be added to Hartline's plate it would be a piece of parsley in comparison.

Hartline would get KTFO on kick return's...lol..

I would experiment with it though considering our option's, I did at one time want to see him returning punts...

In my opinion, this whole team is sorely lacking in the speed department. If I'm not mistaken, Carrol is the fastest guy on the roster. I am no fan of Ted Ginn, but I sure wish they would have kept him on the roster just for his speed.

No your not wrong we are down to our 3rd KR this year, and Cobbs is our #3.

We cut the guy we gave the job to, then Carroll got hurt.

i don't think it's speed with cobbs.he lacks shiftiness.he's got big strong legs that keep moving forward but he lacks that certain shift that great returners have to escape would be tacklers.

A shame we didn't call Pruitt up. Guess we needed to replace Rashad's defensive depth.

Hartline is a PR, not a KR. I've been waiting for him to get on PR duty for a while now.

In regards to Cobbs, he's a guys that won't make mistakes. He offers little in terms of big plays. But he also doesn't make bad decisions. Were a ball/clock control team, and turnovers are our worst enemy.

    Hartline?

I cannot see why they wouldn't let him handle returns, he is fast enough, and fearless.

Cobbs at kick returner sums up in a nutshell how this staff approaches games. Take the safe consistent bet and don't chance going for it all. We need to get aggressive! Not stupid and irrational but we need to strike fear in the opposing team at some time, and that can be done with out making mistakes.

I hope they do give him a shot. Everytime I see Cobbs back there I know I can go take a piss and grab another beer because I won't miss anything good or bad. When I get back we are at around the 20 yard line and I have a cold one in my hand.

Granted; Cobby is a good multi-use guy and can fill many gaps if an injury is present, but I'd rather see Moore or Wallace training as a KR. I think the have the speed and the moves to really amount to something. Both of them are great young talents.

I have no idea why Cobbs is backing up this particular position. I may be wrong but it just makes no sense to me. He is just the wrong physical specimen. To me, this make as much sense as him backing up at nose tackle. Beyond Sporanos man-crush on him, I just don't see the logic in it. But hey,,, I am wrong 10 times a day - one more wouldn't surprise me. Lets hope he proves me dead wrong and breaks one loose so I can eat every word on this forum.

I would love to see them do something will Hillard other than let him ride the bench. I think this kid has potential. I think he should be alternating in to rest Ricky / Ronnie. I think that would give Hilly some play time and keep everyone fresh and rested. Sometimes a good change of pace RB will work wonders on a defense. Every now and then a different RB is a good thing. I say hey, he's worked hard to get off the practice squad, give the kid a chance.

Unfortunately there are not a lot of fast kick returners sitting at home waiting for the Dolphins to pick them up. This was a need going into the draft and the Dolphins did not fill this need. The Dolphins actually lack overall speed on offense. They really have no receiver who can go deep on a consistent basis. Ricky and Ronnie no longer have the speed burst they had when they were younger. Hopefully this lack of speed by the backs and receivers will be a priority in the next draft.

Except for Bess on punt returns. He was indecisive and shaky as hell today.
Either do it or get away from it. I've been saying Hartline should be back there in PR duty since last season.

Like almost everything else in football, its all about the fundamentals. The blocks were there, and Cobbs ran through the lane. Im fine with him as the KR.
