    Wow.

I'll say it again. Spielman is an idiot. He tanked the game on purpose? Was he the guy whiffing on tackles and allowing touchdowns?

Belichick is smart but he's not some Svengali that he concocted this scheme to get a 3rd round pick from Minny, have Moss play reasonably well for two games, then play the Pats, tank the game, make crazy comments and get released. It's ridiculous.

I'll say this: I watched the game and it was pretty obvious that Moss had little to no intention of doing pretty much anything other than going through the motions. Did you see that PI play? I would have fired the guy's arse over that alone.

Yeah. But I guess one explores every alternative when you're facing a 3rd round pick for 4 weeks ...

This is fun. So Moss hasn't been waived today. Childress simply told the team he would be. Purely my own speculation: Could it be that Moss is still a Viking tomorrow - but Childress isn't?

Im glad we're at least putting in a claim, but with the seahawks and bears ahead of us, as well as a whole whack of other teams, I doubt he makes it to us. Woudlnt be surprised if the Bears and hawks bite. Especially the Bears. Adding Moss to the mix with cutler, and the speed of hester. That offense gets way better, very fast. My money's on him ending up there.

    FROM PFT:

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that, although coach Brad Childress has informed the team that Moss has been waived, the move has not yet officially occurred -- and Moss (as we reported earlier) still has not been informed of the move.

And here's the part where we speculate on what may really be happening.

It looks like Childress has acted on his own, presumably after the scar on his soul from the T.O. episode of 2005 (Childress was the offensive coordinator in Phily at the time) began to throb like Harry Potter's lightning bolt. (Look, I'm not a Harry Potter fan. But anyone with a kid under the age of 16 knows about Harry Potter, and also has at some point heard about the scar on his forehead that throbs whenever Darth Vader shows up, or something.)

The rock-scissors-paper hierarchy in Minnesota hasn't been clear since the Fred Flintsone look-a-like named Fran Foley was fired for falsifying his work history. The fact that Sage Rosenfels (a Rick Spielman favorite) was traded in favor of Tarvaris Jackson (a Childress-Foley-Rob Brzezinski draft pick) suggests that Chilly has the juice.

Or maybe he really doesn't, and maybe Chilly has tried to dump Moss as a way to bring to the front burner the persistent rumors that Childress could soon be dumped in favor of defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.

If Childress can set this up as a Moss-goes-or-I-go decision, then it won't look like the head coach was run out of town for, you know, sucking at his job, but that he took a stand based on principle, and that others in the organization didn't share his views about not having Moss on the team.

Either way, the current situation surely has Vikings fans longing for the simpler days of DUIs, Whizzinators, and sex-and-booze cruises on Lake Minnetonka.

Im reading some people are seeing this as a move by Childress...and only Childress because Leslie Frazier may be stepping in as HC.....and Childress has said Moss goes or I go....

Almost all those teams you could make a case for. The rams could use the help with Robinson going down, and they are actually winning games with Bradford at the helm.

Redskins could always use the outside threat with the arm of McNabb.

Raiders are actually fighting for a division lead next week. Not many secure WR spots on that team. And it's al davis at the helm.

Seahawks lost branch to NE, have one outside threat in an uproven wideout in williams. He was shut down yesterday and so was their passing game. THey just got reminded what happens when you face a shut down corner and only have one WR threat.

Bears could certainly enjoy a huge wideout threat. It's mike martz and gunslinger Cutler who have been inconsistent all year in the passing game.

Man i would be shocked if he fell to us, given the waiver order and team needs, but you never know, it's the nfl.

asonLaCanfora Vikings could opt to waive him later, as Chilly told the team he would, but I'm told others in management not sold on cutting Moss

Im thinking Moss stays a viking and Childress is gone...

How does Seattle have a lower waiver claim than us?

Same record, but they lead their division. I just want it clarified.

If this is accurate Chilly has to go. Wilf has to get control over his organization. Moss is done in Minny one way or another. If he wasn't mentally checked out before he surely is now

    From ESPN:

Several news outlets are reporting that receiver Randy Moss was not listed on the NFL's daily waiver wire Monday, meaning he technically remains property of the Minnesota Vikings.

I'm not sure there is much to read into that news. It's not uncommon for the official paperwork of a roster move to trail the news. I suppose it's possible that someone in the organization is trying to reverse what appears to be a decision by coach Brad Childress, but Moss' agent has already publicly acknowledged the move.

It's hard to imagine Moss 3.0 ever occurring. It's much more likely that Moss will appear on Tuesday's waiver wire, extending the drama into Wednesday afternoon.

Soooo...maybe its like he said...the paperwork is just trailing the news is all.

Apparently it's because strength of schedule when teams have same record. We have a tougher schedule and the same record, so we're better is the idea.

as said before, strength of schedule. Sadly we're probably the best damn team in the league with 3 losses and everyone knows it.

I have to say I am shocked at the amount of people open to the idea of Moss here. A lot of folks here (I am man enough to say I am one of them) have their pitchforks and torches out to go get Henning for the offenses struggles and not utilizing Marshall properly. If those beliefs are true, then how would adding Moss change anything? Wouldn't Henning still not properly open up the offense with either player? I think we're all too familiar with what an unhappy Moss can do to a team. There just seems to be too much risk to outweigh the reward. Count me out.

    Its not gonna happen.

1.) He hasn't even been officially waived by the Vikings.
2.) Marshall and Moss on the same team? That can only be trouble.
    3.) I hate Randy Moss.

I disagree. If we get moss then seriously all you need from him is to run a streak down the sidelines. If he's ever 1on1 Henne should be throwing it his way. And if he's not then Bess or Marshall is likely in man and an open target. And if Henning doesn't make that call then it's glaringly apparent he isn't willing to properly utilize his weapons.

You throw to moss once a game deep and instantly the defense has to play against us differently than they have.

    Adding on to Phinatics19's List:

4.) His attitude can be bad at times and honestly we don't need that.
5.) Most likely won't be properly used.
6.) We most likely won't get him.

The good I see if he does come here is that most likely Marshall and Moss will be covered by teams top guys leaving Bess, Hartline, or Wallace to face less stellar DB's.

This could play out for a while. I agree with Michael Lombardi, Joe Theismann and Boomer Esiason that the chances are good that Moss clears waivers.

Some team is going to get lucky but it'll be up to Randy which one...for really the first time in his career.

I disagree though on that one. Miami can ill afford to have the Patriots reacquire Moss. I don't think they'd shy from paying the money either. The Rams won't for locker room issues and what not but Ireland seems like he really wants to win as I think his safety net is gone. That aggressive move for Mankins was perhaps one sign.

Wednesday 4pm, he did make the days waiver wire so he will be waived officially tomorrow and then 24 hr claim period kicks in.

I'm curious if there will be some backroom, quid pro quo.

I really don't think the Patriots are going to do it. They've moved on. Bill Belichick today said pretty emphatically that they're not going for him. Even though I don't buy that Moss was creating a problem in the locker room, I do buy that he was pissing Belichick off something FIERCE...and that guy has an ego. He traded Moss and kept winning games, kept producing offense. It's not happening.

I don't see him setting the league on fire (b/c he'll be sharing pass attempts with Bess & Marshall), but I do see us picking up a lot more chunk yardage by everyone with him here....... and I see us exchanging some of these FGs for TDs instead.

I'm not sure though to be honest. There's a good chance we go 3 WR and that's it the rest of the year if we get Moss with Ronnie Brown as a dump off option in the case of small low level pass rush.

I like the idea of Moss outrunning the defense on EVERY play. Bess will get himself open given enough time and I'm not even mentioning the 3rd best WR in the game.

    Marshall-Moss-Bess is unheard of.

Moss instantly takes double teams off of Marshall. Teams could double Marshall/Moss all game long but that means no safeties in the box against the run (drool) and Bess single covered AND Fasano covered only by a linebacker or dime corner.
