That's a strawman, however. No one proposed such a concept. What the OP did do was to cite this incident as the latest in a long series of incidents that illustrated why he didn't want a character like Randy Moss on his team. And while you or me don't have to agree with that (moral) assessment, it's both highly unfair and logically wrong to counter it with "you tolerate Merling, too." Just as it would have been in your Ben Roethlisberger argument.
Only unfair IF in fact you do actively want Phil Merling cut and I was making an assumption that I should not have made. Otherwise 100% fair and logical.
Just so I won't be labeled a hypocrite, I'm for Moss and I guess for wife beating too (as I cheer Marshall and McDaniel, and would Merling if he were healthy). Hell I want us to give McDaniel an extension if it's at a reasonable price.

You're twisting words now. I'm "not down" with fans who are ambivalent about McDaniels or Merling's actions but chastise Moss b/c he took his frustration out verbally on a caterer after being clean in NE for 3 years.

So? Many people wanted Merling and McDaniel cut. The team didn't cut them, so every time they hear a word and see them make a play, fans are suppose to bring it up everytime? Suppose to yell for them to be cut every time? It's not hypocrital in the least. Had Merling or McDaniel been a free agent, I doubt a fan on this board would of wanted to sign them after the incidents. I could care less about someone being a Dick to people, but he was a locker room problem 4 weeks in.
It's not inconsistent at all. Had Moss caught a TD after signing with us, everyone would cheer to. It's called being a fan. We as fans have no control over player moves. We may WANT Merling and McDaniel gone, we may not WANT Moss. But best believe if we sign him everyone will hope for the best and cheer our *** off for him.
That is the weakest rumor, but just the sort of rumor we need for other mom and pop teams to pass on him... But yeah, he's a diva.
The dude is clearly an a-hole. There have been enough incidents in the past to make that pretty clear. This is just one more to add to the list. Having said that, his a-hole tendencies wouldn't stop me from signing him. His lack of effort and general giveupitude would though.
