Look I say go for Moss, sure he's a problem but he has something to offer. Merriman hasn't been the same for what 2-3 years. Pass.

We know what happened when two SD players got away from Norv Turner. LT is a beast again and Cromartie is slightly better. If we can get a good pass rusher for passing downs it would take a lot of load off of Wake and Misi.

Merriman as well as Moss both carry alot of baggage and it would take a team with a strong head coach that has the full support of the team to manage these two.

Sparano does indeed fit that coaching description. Singletary has too much of his own looming baggage to contend with to take on a Shawn Merriman and I can't see the Ravens interested in him. They already have a dominate defense.

Would be interesting if one or both of them ended up in Miami, but I's still have my reservations about Moss.

I'm one who thinks Merriman is most likely spent after the knee injury. He hasn't been very effective as of lately. I would be more than willing to bring him in and give him a chance and see what he can do. If he was great once, there is a chance he could be again.

I don't care for his previous PED use, but I think he is a hard worker and has a lot to prove. Players usually produce when their careers are on the line, and hopefully we get lucky and exactly that happens.

Okay I get it. You mean like that mental case running back who decided he wanted to quit football right before training camp started and left the team in a tailspin to replace him while he traveled the world and smoked pot?

Damn...good thing that guy wasn't given another chance, huh?

The only thing Merriman has hit since he has been off the juice is Tila Tequila

I believe he may have been playing around a little with a potential side effect of taking steroids? :hi5:

Regardless, I'm not sure of one honest good reason NOT to bring in Merriman for at least this season. Or so I haven't seen one yet.

Yea like another runningback who had a little legal troubles in college, who was drafted by the Dolphins and went on to have a great career.

    Oh wait.

Or a wide receiver who had a few problems and people thought he was more of a body builder than a football player. Good thing Miami gave him another chance.

That's why it's called a risk. You either take it or you stay timid.

You want to be timid that's your prerogative. I hope the team doesn't.

For every player who gets back on track there are at least five who do not. A lot of teams have been derailed by such risks.

It is not even a given that the team needs to make those risks. It is not about being timid, it is about being smart. If you want to gamble all of your money on black, that is your preogative.

    One more time:

-Merriman had his best yr the season AFTER his suspension for PED use, he shredded his knee in 08 and has been plagued by health problems since, specifically foot and calf issues, not knee problems.

    Claim him Irish.

    As for Moss.

    Moss 2010 = 5 TDs

    Marshall 2010 = 1 TD
    Bess 2010 = 3 TD
    Brian Harline = 1 TD

    Need we say more?

I would like to say I am not anti picking up Merriman and/or Moss.

There are good reasons to and there are good reasons to pass.
