I remember 2008 - you're definitely spot on about the job security aspect. I feel like a lot of the time though, if not all of Sparano's tenure, we've played to keep the game close in the 4th quarter and get the win, a la Jimmy Johnson. Fortunately in 2008, we eeked out wins like that against the Rams, Seahawks, Raiders, 49ers led by an interim Mike Nolan, Chiefs - all teams that were below .500 that year.

I don't think Sparano has that luxury any more as most of our opponents, including all we've lost to this year, are pretty much the cream of the crop in the AFC. I do think he coaches somewhat "scared", but I really feel like he's allowing Henning to handcuff the offense with that philosophy (now if that philosophy is Sparano's from the start, them I'm right there with you), but I think he's got 1 more year to prove his worth in salt, barring a major meltdown here.

Gruden, I feel like would definitely make an impact offensively, hell, even his personality gets you fired up.

    YouTube - Jon Gruden Wired

My main worry with Gruden would be that he'd want to assume full control of the team, and displace the work that this front office has done in putting together a pretty solid defensive unit and staff.

True. But, to discredit one of the best GM's in the NFL (Polian) is simply ludicrous.

In fact, I'd venture to say we'll never compete with his mindset, or him as a coach.

If we'll make it or not, I don't know, higher chances are we won't although I root until the end.

But the truth is we ARE a mid of the pack team. We'll beat the weak-mid ones and lose to most of the TOP 10 teams.

Gotta make that final improvement next year to contend.

The division hunt isn't even "pretty much gone"..... so I'm not sure how the playoffs are. We're 4-4 after playing 5 of the top 6 scoring defenses; our special teams has improved; and our youth should be developing throughout the year. It's only uphill from here.

I'll be cheering for them and hoping they do...but the point is they lost to the 4 teams currently sitting in playoff spots, and now need to finish a game ahead of one of them to maybe get a playoff spot. Then you also have to worry about the Titans, Texans and Raiders who are ahead of Miami, and even the Jaguars who we're tied with. We get to play the Raiders and Titans, so that's nice, but we need help with the Pats and Jets. And we still have to beat them on the road.

Hoping for other teams to choke isn't the best position to be in. The fact that the Dolphins can't score more than 1 touchdown lately doesn't help. It's possible the Jets and Patriots can choke and the Dolphins can finally score Touchdowns, but it's looking slim.

Something we can agree on, we are 4-4 not 1-6, we have the smoother portion of the schedule ahead of us, is is one thing to think we need to change Qb's quite another to cliff jump with 8 games left to go.

I think we're seeing our youth, inexperience, and newness together catching up with us. I just hope we can grow up really fast...... and I also feel our defense is going to have to win games for us and especially take advantage of every turnover opportunity.

Only if the Db's stop acting like teenage boys unbuttoning their prom dates brazziers in the back seat of their car...:d

Seriously Bro, Clemons went stiff as a board on that play in the endzone, SS24 did the same thing on the sure pick 6, you could actually see them lock up..

It's friggin driving me nuts..... it's like the football shoots out razor blades when they hit our DBs hands. I'd hate to have to upgrade DBs just b/c they can't catch a freakin ball. Actually that's not funny. lol

It's true, when they come near the ball with a chance to pick it off, Clemons and Smith look like they were tazered, they get SO excited they blow it.

Why this is a team full of choke jobs though, I have no idea, another national game, another choke job, it is maddening.

I'm with you guys on this when Smith blew the pick six . Hell I was losing my mind.
Clemons had the chance on the ball in the end zone.
    We have to take those.
It's late I'm being obvious but wow. Make those plays.

yeah catch it clean it is going the other way ... Big chance for Sean Smith to make a big play and redeem himself and get out of the doghouse. He won't sleep well tonight. I like 24 and hope he develops. You have to steal that one.
Would have made it a 3 point football game. Plenty of daylight.

    :D

You can tell the players are bummed, only Vontae tweeted (could have been an assistant) about his upcoming charity event, no one else, not even Smith has tweeted a word.

Derrick Mason calls Crowder " a weak link, a third stringer"

Damn one day we are going to put a foot right in their asses.

I think they're using it on Fasano too. j/k.

Wow, that's not very inspirational. Do we even need a guy like Crowder when our Dline does such a good job of clogging the middle? B/c of this, could Edds be our long term solution over Crowder?

At least Smith seems to be growing up a little...... unless the team was explicitly told to not tweet a word about the game. :dunno:

Did you guys see the wheels on Jacoby Ford on his punt return TD?! He looked like the friggin Secretariat pulling away by 20 lengths out there!!!!! And then the 2 catches in the last 5 minutes of the game!

Ford or (insert similar player here) would really ease the burden of our offense and help our playoff hopes. It drives me bonkers that we didn't draft him!!!!.... or Aaron Hernandez..... or Mike Williams. Not all of them, but at least one vertical threat/seam buster. Salt on the wound is not having Edds for the season. That's my rant. I'm done.
