Got nicked, huh? You do realize that Young posted a sub 50 passer rating in that first game of the season and was in such emotional distress that there were rumors that he was suicidal. But hey, if you want to make yourself believe that the benching was purely due to other factors, that's all you. All I'm telling you (and it's the for all the internet to see) is that your own argument would suggest that Henne should continue to start and get to at least 30 career starts before any conclusions are drawn. I'm sure you love making yourself feel that you have special powers in terms of evaluating quarterbacks (after 21 starts) which is why I led off my initial post by admitting that there was no chance that anything I say would move you off your point of view. As for me, I'm going to be humble enough to admit to myself that I don't know if Henne is the future of this franchise yet (he might be and then again he might not be). 21 starts is not enough of a sample size either way. P.S. You still haven't bothered to address your perspective on what constitutes a "big game" (e.g. the ones we lose are big, the ones we win aren't)
I refuse to excuse poor present performance because of the illusion of potential future performance. -Big game..Elimination games, games that keep a team in playoff contention, winning playoff games. None of which the Henne Fish has won.
Cinci's defense is terrible. @Stitches I'd say we are below average. Watching other games today I see no names coming off benches and making plays and defensive backs making plays. We don't have that in Miami.
I'll go ahead and play devil's advocate here. One area of regression is in the multiple-interception department (namely three interception games). I know that they weren't all Henne's fault, but the fact remains that in his first season he had two 3-interception games in 13 starts. This season, he already has 2 in just 8 games. He needs to cut down on the multi-interception games.
Ok? Yet on the season he has like the same INT % as last year and a better TD%. I can point to 3 games last year where he did bad too if that's the game we're playing. I can point to 3 game stretches this year where he went 3Tds and 1 INT if you want.
Yep, countless missed chances, sooner or later: YouTube - The Sopranos: Big ***** is a fish Sucks, they may be old and comfortable friends, sooner or later though, you have to face the facts.
Fascinating. So the game that let Miami get to 4-3 instead of 3-4 isn't a game that keeps a team in playoff contention, huh? Or better yet, the two games in a row last year (in Weeks 13 and 14 against the Patriots and Jaguars) that kept the team in playoff contention by getting them to 6-6 and then 7-6. Those don't fit your criteria either, huh? Any other flights of fancy you'd like to lead us on?
Miami has a young defense with unrealistic expectations. There are a couple missing pieces, but it is improving. The talent just isn't there yet. Offensive co-ordinator; he gets quite a few props for a few great plays that are well designed, but cannot establish a rhythm. The "lack of or inability to" get the running backs involved in the game is a glaring problem, especially in the passing game. It is hard to get a feel for where this team is offensively, because there just isn't any rhythm. To me, it all starts with the ability to get the RB's involved in the game. First drive is the perfect example.
You said you could not find one category that he has regressed in. 1-5, his 4th Qtr completion percentage is tragic as well. I wanted him to work as well Bro, he just isn't, the games we have won were more or less ones any Avg NFL Qb could have, Henne is not the droid we have been looking for ..
Last season, we were in a playoff spot heading into the final 3 games, we lost each and every one of them, this year, we have lost 4 intra conference games against opponents we will compete with for a wildcard spot. Sooner or later hugoG, things will begin to dawn on you concerning Chad Henne. Brandon Marshall the "my god if we get a #1 Wr!" piece, Beast has played fine, so tell me, why was Beast man to man covered, in the endzone, and the ball not even in his zip code?
Consider it an omen. Henne is not long for the starting job, nor should he be if Sparano is honest with himself and the team.
59% completions is tragic? That's funny since you think Thigpen is accurate, yet he is like a 54% passer for his career. Henne was a 54.8% (or so) passer in the 4th quarter last year by the way.
no **** ya know how many times people wrote that last year (if we only had a true #1) now that hasnt worked out so its the hes only played 20 something games excuse - enough is enough
Ok, maybe I am not down on him quite as much as Padre, but I'll tell you one thing; maybe he is not losing games for us per se, but he darn sure isn't out there winning games for us either. If he is the Qb we all want him to be he must start leading this team down the field on a consistent basis. He seems to get on a little roll sometimes but when he presses the wheels come off. Padre points out his dismal 4th Qtr stats and that is a double whammy because that is when we need him the most. Instead he has been folding like a tent under the pressure.
The problem with the 4th qtr thing is his Receiving Corps is not helping him, however I think it is a synergistic process, the Wr expect Henne to make thier jobs twice as hard, Henne's performance grows worse, so they have to do 3x as much.
It most certainly is, your faulty, or short memory not recalling that I posted that video last season in regards to Joey Porter is of no moment for my message. Chad Henne, should be benched, that is the fact of the matter, because Henne fans do not wish to hear it, is once again, of no moment, that is your choice. If Sparano was honest with the fans, and mediocrity is unacceptable, then Chad Henne belongs on the bench, there is no overstating the obvious to the obstinate.
Again, you go around and around avoiding the fact that your own comment was clearly wrong. Not sort of wrong, not opinion wrong. Just flat wrong. You said that Henne has never had a big game in a key spot, but that's wrong. Is Henne playing lights out? No. Has he solidified his status Miami's starter of the future? No. Is your insistence that you know for sure what Henne is or isn't after 21 starts extremely self-righteous? Yes. But hey, I get it. If he does end up falling short and not becoming the Dolphins' franchise QB, you can prance around this forum telling everyone what a genius you were all along (I've seen it a million times before). Me, I'll keep watching and taking in information, then make my assessment (at the end of the season, not after 8 games).
Prove what? You're the one passing final and absolute judgment after 8 games (and 21 career starts). All I'm telling you is that doing so is fool-hearty/impatient at best, and self-righteous/self-serving at worst.
If you're not willing to put up with stretches like this, then you will never develop a young QB. Marino was the exception to the rule. Most young QBs follow a Henne-like trajectory (including Hall of Famers like Manning).
they're not, thats part of having a young qb. if you draft one you have to develop him. how do you develop him if you bench him after every bad loss?
ya know i dont question his physical abilities - just dont think he can suceed mentally - i just dont see any leadership in him - no fire - no sense of urgency - ya gotta have them to be good - ability to lead, those qualitys are the IT factor - its just not there
Three yrs, 21 starts, if you are not seeing what it is, then there is no basis for discussion. Chad Henne should ride pine if Sparano wishes to win this yr, if he is as good as what he said after Henne sucked last yr. No more free passes fellas, been around to long, they are fool's gold.
I was the one that said Henne was not our future, and that we should have drafted Aaron Rodgers instead of Ronnie Brown...
nah I say we give a call to colt brennan and throw him out there now that dude has the it factor - cant believe no one really gave him a chance
You have no idea what you're talking about. Chad Pennington was 0-3 as a starter last year before getting hurt again. That's what you want to bench Henne for? I'm so sorry Chad Henne isn't an All-Pro after 21 starts in the National Football League.
