I like Sparano like many of you, but I think he/they might be hindering Henne's progression. I think they have him playing scared with the 1" leash around his neck.

A quarterback needs to make mistakes to learn. They need to open the playbook and let him have his due. I feel the int's, rushed throws, and some of the inaccurate passes are due to him playing afraid to make a bad decision.

I think the whole team is playing not to make mistakes. We seem to "choke" at every opportunity we have to make a game changing play!

I dont think the players are playing up to their potential. I have a feeling its a mindset problem stemming from the coach....playing uptight.

    Feel free to disagree...

Do you think Sparano is the one telling Henning to ease his foot off the pedal?

I agree to an extent, our offensive philosophy needs to be overhauled. Way too many three man routes, not enough screens or deep balls, not enough of Ronnie Brown etc. Henning is more worried about protecting Henne than with attacking the defense, something that cannot be said about ANY good offense in this league. Good offenses want you to blitz, great offenses DARE you to blitz, our offense cowers in fear of the blitz. But I won't say that's why we're losing games and it's not like we're the Dallas Cowboys out there. We're losing to very good teams, I think the 4 teams that have beaten us are all among the top 5-6 teams in the league. Everyone wants to dissect our performances, assign blame and name scapegoats, sometimes you just have to admit that you lost to a better team.

Very well put. Im tired of watching this team play close and hope for a chance at the end to win it. They need to instill some confidence in this team! We are better than this. Our staff needs to do better.

I understand we have lost to 4 good teams, but that isnt good enough. We are capable of beating any team in this league imo. Our philosophy of playing it safe is gonna get us an 8-8 record.

On top of all of this what have we learned from Chad Henne? He has a strong arm, that about it. I want to know if he has what it takes to be our future!

OPEN THE PLAYBOOK! We are not going to the Super Bowl this year anyhow.

I'm not sure what evidence you have that there is any leash on Henne. They're giving him plays to make, he's just not making them.

sadly, them protecting henne is hurting him just as much if we let him wing it and make mistakes......atleast with winging it there is a chance for a big play. Its like driving a car with a ****ing boot on it

I just think he is playing scared. Scared to make a mistake, second guessing himself. I think thats whats behind the late throws, rushed throws, inaccurate throws, and all the dump offs. We have seen him play better than this.

I think alot of this falls on the coaching. He needs to relax and let it fly.

So tough to say. Sparano doesn't have any track record to speak of. It could very well be that Henning is begging for more 5 wide aerial attack style football & Sparano is saying hell's no. I doubt that very much, but its possible. What I do know, is that having a HC with no coordinator experience can be tricky b/c he's not exactly in a position to make corrections with the OC/DC much when things aren't going well. Our offense needs a kick, we haven't topped 23 points or 2 TDs in a game all year long. Sure we've played some tough teams, but I just watched the Browns put up 30+ on the Saints and Patriots in back to back games, so I'm not in an accepting mood when it comes to excuses.

I don't know who is to blame for the play of Henne. Is it the conservative approach to play calling by dan Henning? Is it because Sparano has the same plan going into games which we all hated in the Wannstedt era? Which was, play the game close and pray you can win it late in the fouth quarter. Perhaps the problem is Henne himself. Maybe he is not the long term answer at QB. This season is basically over as far as making the playoffs. So the Dolphins should just open up the offense and find out once and for all if Henne has what it takes to be a quality QB in the NFL. Compared to all the QB's now starting in the NFL whom were drafted in the last three years. I would take any of these other starters over Henne at this point. He shows little touch on the ball and the only reason he has such a high percentage of completions is because of the number of short passes he throws. He certainly has not shown he can complete a high percentage of passes over 10-15 yards and he is throws a lousy deep ball. Eight more games is all he should get to show if he is the future or not. If he doesn't show drastic improvement over these games. The Dolphins should use their high first round draft pick next year to select another QB to be the Dolphins future at QB.
