making plays is getting the ball thrown so you can catch it, get alot of yards, what he does with it afterwards is not on henne.

    No.

Did you just graduate the 2nd grade in order to have such a lack of reading comprehension?

exactly. look it was obvious henne was hindering our offense, not henning. i was willing to let henne work through his problems, sacrificing the season if need be. the coaching staff however wasnt. They want the best players on the field now and feel they can win more with pennington. so be it

I think this is it. From the philosophy to the players this offense is designed for Penny, not Henne.

This is a move by somebody who's job is in Jeopardy. With all the big name FA's coming back into coaching this year I think Sparano is starting to scramble a little.

Is it a terrible move this year?? Probably not, I think its going to help the offense. Is it a terrible move for our future and the development of Henne?? You bet your azz.

You have to almost take this as them giving up on Henne. I think this could be the end for him.

Not unless Pennington gets hurt. And even then he might have to wait for Thigpen to get hurt or perform worse.

Penny will be back there until he is sacked and his plastic shoulder is shattered.

Deep routes are not going to be the first or second reads the majority of the time no matter what given that they take time to unfold? You are absolutely barking up the wrong tree here. Do you not remember Chad Pennington, even with his noodle arm taking shots?

Going deep is a fundamental part of Dan Henning's offense, and the entire offensive tree he is a part of.

If Henning was a GM/Manager in baseball, he'd have 8 guys in the lineup with high averages, little to no power, who steal bases. He would then call 15 hit and runs per game.

read marshalls quotes....where is henne to throw it, if ed reed is sitting over the top, and a corner is man 2 man on him and a 3rd corner or safety is covering underneath!?!??!?! where does he throw it!? so he can "make plays"

Depending on Henne's ego this will make or break him for sure... This also could end his tenure in Miami for sure.

Exactly, too many people are not being objective at the moment, they won't be for quite some time as Dolfans are really invested in Qb's (and Wr's) it is almost a psychosis.

CP with these weapons in this offense is going to fun to watch.

Everybody LOOOOVES to point to Drew Brees as an example of a late bloomer, and that Henne will follow that path. Well Brees path included a benching, so accept it and move on!

No. I think the staff had a set idea as to how much to put on Henne's plate at any given time.

brees was benched for a younger player and they needed to see who was the future.......he got injured, he was let go

henne is benched for a guy that wont be playing in 3 years and henne is 24 and healthy......its not even close to the same situation

I don't know how Matt Ryan would have done with Carey blocking for him (or Flacco for that matter). I don't know if either of those guys would have been a better fit on this team. I do know that Henne has kind of leveled off these past few games after showing some improvement towards the beginning of the year, while Ryan and Flacco are starting to hit their strides. It's not a fair comparison anyway.

i think thats the thing with henne. he is still overwhlemed and its detrimental to the teams playoff aspirations at this time. personally i would have sacrificed the season to keep henne getting reps but if Ross is being a douche, then you have to make this move

You know... throw Drew Brees in a Dolphin Jersey back when we had the chance, without the receivers Brees has now he is just a mediocre QB bro, Brees is no savior at QB hes just a good player with great weapons.

Agreed 100%. You make this move to win it all now. If that is not realistic, what is the point?

Personally, I didn't see Pennington playing past this year to be honest. The shape that arm has to be in, I just didn't see him putting himself through it much longer, I saw him playing out this year as our backup if we needed someone should Henne falter, and then I saw him stepping in as QB coach, because I was hoping some of our coaches would move around after Henning gets let go... Apparently none of that is going to happen now

Brees got benched his 2nd year starting because went ****ing 1-7. He didn't get benched for Rivers in the instance Jdang is referring to.

    Well away from here
OMFG, please tell me this is a joke. So we're that clueless that we as coaches don't have a clue which is worse? That's just ****ing great.

What do they know at this point if that statement is true?

I hope to god thats just some nonsense. Otherwise thats just shamefully embarrassing. Hell Cam Cameron wasn't that bad.

No. No matter how much preparation I have before going into a job, if I'm not given all the necessary tools (in this scenario it's audibles), I'm not going to be doing the job as well as I could (whether I am completely prepared mentally or not).

I'm beating a dead horse here, but IF Henne was an easy read, it's because a guy who can't audible is probably going to be easier to read than most QB's.

Anyway, it doesn't matter who the QB is if our running game continues to struggle and/or continue to be misused.

It's not even just ignorance of other teams in the past, it's THIS team.

It's the Red Zone TD % too. People blame that on Henning, but forget we had the 2nd best TD % in the league last season, or in 2008 how often they scored by throwing to tight ends in the back of the end zone, etc.

I think its safe to say more of us would be supportive of benching Henne if we were 1-7 right now, even with the tougher schedule we've had to endure.
