Absolutely. Sanchez is the future of our franchise. The Jets are investing MILLIONS and MILLIONS of their money on him. Chad Henne is the FUTURE of the Miami Dolphins, not Chad Pennington. Let Henne learn everything possible so this can help him in the long run. Pennington will not get you to the playoffs and even if he does, it's to the wild-card and then you guys are done. Benching Henne was stupid.
I don't buy that Sparano is on the hot seat and making this move to save his job. If anyone on the staff's seat is getting warm I would bet it's our pal Dan Henning. Look, I still think Henne will be the guy down the road, but he is clearly struggling. If we want to at least make the playoffs we need to at least try this switch. Maybe backing the pressure off Henne will help him some and allow him to refocus. Don't forget that Pennington isn't the most durable guy on the field.
Well Henne was a late second rounder, he's making about as much as Vlad Ducasse . And I think Sanchez would've been benched after the Bills game, or perhaps the Pats game last year. But I agree he is the future up there, as Henne is here, and while I dont agree with the move, I see the logic behind it. I almost think this move is about Henning and not Henne. It's clear that Henning doesnt have any confidence in Henne from the play calling. So Sparano puts Penny in & if things pick up then Henning is right & if not then Henning is gone.
This same sort of move seems to be paying off for Vince Young so I think everyone needs to chill a bit and see how this plays out.
I don't think its anything that Ross has even said. If you look at Sparano over the last 2 1/2 years, you see paranoid tendencies. This year his adoption of the sunglasses at his press conferences reeks of that. The avoidance and coolness towards the media is another example (one that I don't disagree with by the way). This is yet another move that can be interpreted as "I am scared as hell of the outside world and any criticism the media may have, so I need to win ballgames now, and to hell with the future of this franchise".
Not selfish it has worked in the past,Am i happy no way, i wanted to see henn for a the whole season to see what he had.
Dude, he burned his corneas as a child... http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/sh...is-not-trying-to-be-Corey-Hart?urn=nfl-272506
Tony does seem more fear driven now than in his first year of coaching. Different demeanor. But we're speculating.
And paying a kings ransom for Brett Farve really worked out well for you guys , EH ? That was beyond a friggin joke. That was putrid.
If you all saw Sparano in the press conference when he said it was his idea to bench Henne then lower his head and if you have any common sense you would realize here is a true company guy taking the punch in the mouth for something he had to do and did not want to do. This was not Tony Sparano's decision, I will tell you that much. Watch the press conference. When was the last time Tony lovered his head like that to the camera's ? Never. It showed a man answering questions on par that was rehearsed to tow the company line. Fact.
I just can't see them winning any of the games they lost this year with Pennington. You gave up over 30 in two of them, 26 in another and got screwed in the loss where you gave up 23.
agree. next year henne has to take that final step and thats too learn how to attack a defense and that means you dont check down every time to the safest play
I haven't read any others post, but let me ask you this. You at your current job. If you were on the chopping block, would you do whatever it took to save your job, save the well-being of your family, make sure things stayed in place...OR would you do what is best long-term for the company your at while not worrying about what situation that puts you and your family in? It amazes me sometimes how people forget that these people are actual human beings just like we are--make mistakes, have the same pressures, emotions, insecurities, etc. etc. Your darn right the guy has pressure his boss said he believes they are a Super Bowl caliber team. They are 4-4 right now. I'd be sweating bullets and doing whatever I thought necessary in the best interest of fulfilling that. In the end, he is doing what is best for the team--trying to win.
You have absolutely no idea what "52 guys that come to work every day" think about this move. Seriously. Maybe they do maybe they don't but this point is not a valid argument to support the move.. Just sayin.
Coral, How about Pat Kirwan? How about when Pat Kirwan says on radio that he has spoken with a guy on the team. That guy told him that Henne is too worried about perfection. Henne is too worried about making the right decision versus the coverage. To which Tim Ryan asks "how do you coach a guy like that?" Kirwan's response? Sometimes you just got to let it fly. I cannot help that you can't see it. But at this point, the 52 other guys would have to be blind not to see it when they watch the film.
Actually Kirwan cited Marino as a resource. He said Dan always tells him that if he was going to colleges looking for a QB, he would have them throw 100 passes from their back foot because that is the passes you will get in the NFL. You are not going to get perfection.
dude married his sweetheart girlfriend, they had been together since middle school, some 16 yrs, do not expect him to get a pirate flag tattoo on his johnson no matter how long he hangs out with Marino. Henne's idea of risky behavoir is sun bathing in a wet suit.
well maybve we need to get rid of pennington next year and replace him with more of a gunslinger type of vet. edit: the only guys i see that i would want coaching him is maybe hasselbeck and kerry collins and i dont think either of those are the types that had the gunslinger mentality. maybe we get a new qb coach. i would also like to get a new wr coach. i'm not happy with dorell
