Someone just called in to Sirius NFL Radio and said Salguero is reporting that the owner said to Sporano after the Steelers...

"This kid better improve quickly or we are making a move. And if you do not want to make the move we can make a coaching change."

I'm on a WAP strapped phone. Look around Salguero's stuff. I'm not buying it.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit. Afterall, this owner thought, and told everyone we'd be in the superbowl this year

Now we can play QB carousel again!

I understand an owners need for the team to be successful, especially one that just shelled out an awful lot of cash, however that being said, I really wish they'd leave the football decisions to their coaches and GM's. The owners might know alot about whatever it is they were good (or lucky) at to get enough cash to buy the team, but they don't know football, and should keep their mouths shut.

    That after the STEELERS GAME?!?

I'll need proof. The actual report. Not buying this at the moment.

I don't see anything on the site yet, but I haven't read all the comments. Armando didn't put it in an article or his blog.

'Mando walked it back and said "Ross deserved a phone call".

Eh, perfect situation to project whatever anyone wishes to project.

    .

This really would not surprise me. It may not be true, but if it is, I think we know why Parcells left. I doubt this is the first time Ross has given input since he's been here (if true)

There is no evidence that Ross had anything to do with this move, or that he's been anything other than supportive of this regime. He shelled out almost $30 million bucks in guaranteed money to Dansby and Marshall and so far he is getting merely average results.

I don't blame him if he is putting a little pressure on the regime. It doesn't mean they're getting fired or that Petersen is coming in. Parcells leaving is solely on him. Ross never interfered with him at all.

That's why I say "if true". I've always been of the belief owners should be hands-off in regards to personnel decisions. This story may be completely bogus, but like I say it wouldn't surprise me, especially for one of the reasons you just mentioned; he's put in a lot of money and wants to see better results.

Let's not forget this is the same owner who said we were going to the Super Bowl this year.

If you read Omar's blog this morning (I know opinions of him are mixed at best) he writes that Ireland/sparano sold Ross that this was potentially a SB team with the additions of Marshall/Dansby and so Ross authorized the huge expenditures.

Now that it appeears they were way off, I can't blame Ross for being pissed.

In the 2 years ross has been here I've seen no evidence that he wants anything other than for this team to win and for the fans to enjoy coming to his stadium. He has accomplished #2 as all the things that seemed silly (orange carpet, fan vision) have significantly upgraded the stadium experience.

The man has spent a ton of money and deserves to not have smoke blown up his ***.

If these guys completely sold you a bill of goods, wouldn't you trust a firend you've been in business with for more than 20 years over the bozos who were in place when you bought the company?

Nicely stated. I totally agree. Ross is reported to be a huge football fan, similar to Kraft in New England...lets hope Miami can deliver the same results....

Like I said, I've seen nothing to indicate that Ross is meddlesome at all.

I think he just wants to win. If the people who are in charge of your team tell you "spend $50 million on these two guys and we are SB contenders", then you spend the money only to find out halfway through the season that your employees were totally wrong, I think I'd be pretty pissed.

Isn't Ross a HUGE Henne fan? And this supposedly happened after Henne played one of his best games of the year against the best defense in the league? A game we lost on a blown call?

    I'm calling bull****.

Pat Bowlen made the move to Jay Cutler over Jake Plummer, not Mike Shannon. He was hearing the fans, not the pros when he made this move.:wink2:

I don't doubt that Ross and Sparano had a meeting...I've speculated as much... I kinda doubt it happened after the Steelers' game though. I would doubt that Ross went to Sparano and said change the qb... rather he said something along the lines of "we're four and four, what's the prognosis for the rest of the season?" Tony, never having been in that situation before, probably panicked and took it as an ultimatum. And don't tell me Tony has never shown signs of panic. Recall the two minute drills since he's been here? Lets call a timeout!

If what is being reported is true, then it means that Sparano has no spine. If Ross had come up to me and said that I'd tell him he better start looking for a new coach then, because I'm sticking with my guy. Players know when coaches don't have their back (look at Minnesota), it's an easy way to lose the locker room.

    I could see this.

And Tony seems extremely fear driven, to me. Disappointingly.

    Seems highly unlikely since:
    a) Ross is a Michigan alum
    b) Ross is a huge Henne fan

But other than that, this is totally likely.

And if Salguero is reporting it, then it must be true. After all, he was the guy reporting that Wes Welker was going to be cut in training camp just prior to his breakout season for the Dolphins.
