The 1-7 Toronto Craptors are in town tonight, gametime is 7pm. After the letdown against Utah the other night, I'm hoping this is a rebound game.
After taking a beating the last two nights with my blind heat cover bets... I am on the Magic and then parlaying Toronto's misery into tomorrow by taking the heat. The magic owe me one.
Im about fed up with Quintin Richardson already. He just does not fit in our system offensively. In the past 3 games he is 4-18 behind the arc and just as I was writing this....he fouls a guy trying to close out on a 3pt shot giving him 3 FTs. "QRich" is 1-5 behind the arc already in this game against Toronto, with 4 minutes left in the first quarter........... Edit...he keeps putting them up, at least he made another one just now lol
Those Craptors put up 30 in the first quarter on ORL Stan better leave Bass in, all Richardson is doing is jacking up 3s. He kills any ball movement, and I used to think Pietrus did that too much....
I still think Pietrus does that too much and is precisely why I can't stand having the guy on my team.
That last offensive play that resulted in Dwight free throws is exactly what the problem with the magic is. Dwight inside and 4 guys standing behind 3pt line just watching...unreal. make rashard the permanent 3.
Damn, lost to the Raptors 110-106; they're now a 2 win team. That's embarrassing. I hope this means we're getting all the crappy perfomance games out of the way early.
Nice to get a win last night against the Nets to snap that losing streak. It wasn't pretty and it didn't happen until 4 seconds were left, but after those previous two games, I'll take it.
There's a couple of instate football games this weekend, but first it's the Heat @ Magic game tonight. Neither team has been lighting it up lately, but hopefully playing @ home will help the Magic a little bit for this rematch.
I can blame the officiating...but I won't. You guys hit your open shots and we didn't. Let's leave it at that. Congrats on holding court. See you in Feb. then March...then in the Eastern Conference Finals. That's a promise.
Was happy to see Bass out there playing well, he could really be a solid player for us down the stretch.
We've got a good run going, Magic fans. We're 15-4, 6-2 with away games. So far so good. After the win in Detroit tonight, let's keep it going!
Well, it looks like the Vince Carter experiment is over, and Turkoglu is back. "The Orlando Magic, already in serious trade talks with the Washington Wizards about acquiring Gilbert Arenas, have agreed to a deal in principle with the Phoenix Suns, according to league sources. The trade returns former Magic star Hedo Turkoglu, along with Jason Richardson and Earl Clark, to Orlando in exchange for Vince Carter, Marcin Gortat, Mickael Pietrus, a 2011 first-round pick and cash considerations. Orlando, losers of five of its last six games, is also close to acquiring Arenas for Rashard Lewis, sources said." http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5932861
I'm glad to get rid of Vince and Puetrus. Not sure how I feel about Hedo coming back. I think he'll play good, but his contract is huge. Sad to see Gortat go
Not sure how you can say that before 1 game is played. Theyre getting Vince Carter who is DONE, another shooting guard who only launches 3s, and a pretty good center. I'd hardly call that a good deal
A 1st rounder that will be at the bottom of the 1st round, and like the Magic's first rounder this year, would not make the team
Gilbert is washed up. VC might not be what he use to be but he is more productive then Agent 0. Pietrus is a great bench player and is going to flourish in Phoenix. Plus they get a 1st rounder and cash options GG.
Agent Zero is as washed up as you can be... Of the Deal's components...the ones I like are J-Rich and Hedo. I would have kept Rashard and done the Phoenix deal. Adding Zero to the other deal makes NO sense. What has made the Magic difficult to defend is the stretch #4 in Lewis which forced you to honor his 3 pt. shot. Now.....all teams will do is pound on Howard all game long with doubles.
Don't worry Dwight is going to get some serious help in the form of Kobe, Pau, and the rest of the Laker gang in a year and half... Hehe....
Won't matter. Dwight will force it. Worst comes to worst, Orlando will take Bynum for a year plus a few late firsts. In the NBA as you very well know Section, the player forces the action. For Dwight going to OKC might be attractive in the sense that they'd be an incredible team but there's something about being a Laker center that just isn't comparable. I doubt Orlando out of spite will say no. Dwight owes them nothing, he's given them a hallmark player for years. It won't be a LeBron situation. Let's see what Denver gets for Carmelo. That should be an indicator of what happens in this kind of deal. Even the Cavs as mad as they were still made the S and T when they could have passed and tried to screw over LeBron on the contract years.
LOL. No dude. it does matter. The NBA has a hard cap for trades and contracts have to matchup. For LA to get Dwight, they have to trade Gasol AND Bynum. The Lakers are $44 million OVER the cap. That roster is locked in for the duration of Kobe AND Gasol's contract. They have ZERO chance of landing ANY max FA or even getting one in trade without sending Gasol and Bynum away at a minimum. I also doubt Dwight will want to play with JUST an aging Kobe. The destinations for Howard are limited, the facts are that he will not have much of a choice of franchises... These are the only ones with the space for Howard that year.... New Orleans (Terrible financial situation) OKC (They have two offseasons to ruin their cap space.) Houston (Currently filling up their cap space) Denver (If they take expirings for melo) New York (If they sit and do nothing for two years) Dwight Howard will have little choice but to stay in orlando.
That's exactly what I wanted to do. A line up up Nelson-Richardson-Hedo-Lewis-Howard would be perfect.
What? Gasol and Bynum? Bynum is going to be pulling in 16m in that last season. Dwight on the front end of a new deal will be making 17m the first year. Where the hell does Gasol fit in the salary equation. It's a straight up swap and doesn't affect the Laker payroll by much at all. Orlando has little leverage on where Dwight goes in this. If they want to spite the Lakers they can but that doesn't really help them at all. It's simple Bynum will go to Orlando with Orlando being over the cap with or without Howard. There's no benefit for them not to take the deal since it's not long-term and they can still use the MLE.
Gasol's cap number will need to be moved if they want Dwight Howard. That is the only "fair" trade to be had. Bynums cap number straight up for Dwight is a terrible deal because Bynum cannot get that number in the open market. Orlando would be better served USING the cap space. I said that the Lakers would have to move both...because obviously..you are not going to have Bynum coming off the bench.
Going on RealGM..... Some of you Magic fans are worse than Heat fans with their complaining. Guys..Dwight Howard is not going anywhere. You have a very good situation, and when Boston goes away very soon, you will be battling the Heat in the ECF's EVERY year. relax...patience...enjoy.
