I have a little tradition of playing the Dolphins fight song after touchdowns, not field goals sorry Carpenter. Since we've had very few this year the tradition isn't as fun. The Patriots game(breakout of the wild cat game) and the Jets AFC East clincher were two games where the tradition made the victory sweeter. I was thinking I couldn't be the only one with a touchdown tradition and was wondering if others have such celebrations? If so, what have the dolphins deprived you of this year? Also, to the admins the site looks great!!
No traditions but I do have the same rituals I go through each Sunday morning, before a game, or Monday night before a game or Thursday (a new one). I always take an extra shower and use a certain soap and put on the same cologne. I did this years ago before a Jets game I went to and we won a Monday night game 46-3 (it was 1986 at the OB if I remember correctly). I know its weird, and my wife & kids think I am crazy but I have to do it or I am convinced they will lose. I have failed to do this 6 times in all those years, and by George they lost all 6...... Of course they have lost a lot of games I did do it too, so I don't know I may just have a weird OCD about it
I would assume that pre-game rituals are more common than actual touchdown rituals, so maybe I have the weird OCD It's definitely odd, that if I partake in pre-game rituals and they lose it wasn't due to pre-game rituals. However, I don't/can't do pre-game rituals and they lose, well obviously the outcome of the game would have been different had I used the proper cologne!
I wouldnt call this a ritual because I've only done this once, and it was spur of the moment had to be there type of thing. At the Bengals game, after the refs ruled Ricky's run a TD, I yelled "HEY YOU DANG WOODCHUCKS! QUIT CHUCKIN MY WOOD!" Then, everyone in our group sang the fight song. We had the Bengals fans scared. At Sun Life, when the Phins get a first down, the announcer comes on, and says 'That's enough for another Miami Dolphins...' and the crowd yells FIRST DOWN and motions forward with their arms. Well, Papa Pump has this addition to it. After everyone yells first down, he holds his fist out with the other arm back like a QB about to throw the ball, and yells 'Hooah!' Big Papa would yell the 'That's enough for another Miami Dolphins...'' and everyone in our group would yell First Down....Hooah! There was this guy wearing an Eagles Randall Cunningham jersey a couple rows in front of us, and he was asking what we were doing. Pretty soon, he yelled 'I got it!' and was doing it with us whenever Miami got a first down...and he was sitting with Bengals fans. lol
My nerves and sanity during the games and a brief stint of insanity just after the games...that's what they've deprived me of...
