I dont think thats up to them.

I think that the play itself dictates what Thigpen does in that if he needs to scarmble he will....just out of instinct....thats his game.

So they can tell him dont do this or that too much but in the end the guy will play with his instincts so in this case its even more important that they have Ireland on the phone right now having a few guys come in tomorrow to work out.

I don't think they can sign UFL players until their season is over.

 be a better option imo.....need someone who can come in and pick up the offense quickly. So who better then a seasoned vet....def not Russell or any other unproven QB

    Lack of experience bro.

We are right in the thick of the playoff race and putting him into a meat grinder situation like that isnt a good idea especially since he's been doing what since we let him go 2 months ago? Last I heard he was considering playing baseball again.

I know a street QB is just as bad but at least someone with experience might....might....be a better option. Its tricky.

I was just about to say White might be back. It really wouldnt surprise me if he came back as our 3rd qb.

He has a minor league contract with KC...but cant see why that would keep him from playing if he wanted to....

i dont think dialing it back is an option. maybe if we were 7-2 but at 5-4 and needing every win, you go full out until the playoffs are no longer possible. we probably will try to run more though. not sure if thats what you meant

Thats true, and I think they could bring him in to workout and see where he is at.

In the end though remember what killed him here was his throwing ability or lack of.

If Henne gets on IR then you get him back as a 3rd option. But as the primary backup...I dont think thats a good idea unless you bring him in and he tears it up in practice.

If he shows you the same Pat White of the last 2 years then ...well...we move on.

    Food for thought.

Thigpen threw 3 INTs the first game he came in for the CHiefs in 2008. When the team switched to the spread offense the story changed significantly.

it was nice seeing henne out of the shotgun today. i'm certain those plays were installed for pennington but since henne had success with it i look for henne to be in that formation from here on out if he isnt put on IR

And that is an option...actually....if his knee isnt that bad....put him in a spread shotgun...get rid of it quickly....thought it worked very well today....

Really.....have you the foggiest idea what so ever who might be available? White learned this system for two years....much rather have him give it a try then bring in someone to try an learn it in two weeks

I think Thigpen could be even better out of that. I wish you could find stats on QBs and how effective they are out of each formation. I think Thigpen's QB rating out of the spread is probably twice that of Thigpen in a pro set, 2 TE, or 3 WR.

the game was a tremendous victory.
I disagree with those that say there are now more questions @ QB. the questions have been answered.

took the time to watch the game twice & saw what the field had to say:
    1) unfortunately, Pennington's arm is no longer questionable. his shoulder is simply not capable of holding up under the rigors of NFL defenses. It's time for Chad the Greater to think about coaching full-time
    2) nothing has changed with Henne. he's a thrower not a passer & will never be a legitimate franchise QB. at best he will become a perennial NFL back-up
    3) Thigpen provided the spark to turn the offense. he showed his metal & has earned a shot @ the start on Thursday

this game provided the answered as well as a new lease on post season.

it is what it is: Thigpen in 2010

It was mentioned at some point that Henne prefers taking the snap under Center than Shotgun because he can read the field better(? For some reason?)

Yeah. My understanding is it was all on Henne, why they didnt use him out of the shotgun but I have to think with the success they had with it today, that whenever Henne starts again you are going to see him playing out of the shotgun on a regular basis

alot of people here tried to tell you that.

He could have thrown for 400 yards, 4 TD's and 1 INT and you still wouldnt be satisfied.

He threw 6 passes... 6! The only way Thigpen starts on Thursday is if Pennington and Henne can't go.

Thigpen in 2010 now? Wow... you flip flop more than anyone on these boards

:hi5: The one thing I'll agree, we still have a shot at the playoffs, but without Pennington, and Henne, those shots unfortunately are now pretty slim. This was a good win for us today, but it cost us an awful lot to get it.

Henne's big problem as I see it is his inability to read defenses quickly enough. Thats why a lot of his passes are left a little short or out of placement. It's not the fact that he doesn't have the arm or isn't accurate. It's just he waits to long and then open players become defended and the throws that could have been easier become tight windows with players ready to intercept the tipped/deflected balls.

Henne has the tools to be a great QB, he still needs a bit more time to progress quicker threw his reads. I know that most people think he has had plenty of time to do so but I say he has also improved from where he was as a rookie. He just needs to be coached better in my opinion. Today they opened it up a bit and let him throw down field a bit more. This was a good thing. His throws could have been better, but with more chances taken down field his throws will improve. I really feel the coaches have taken the wrong approach in his coaching. Put him out there and let him take chances, people learn more when they take chances whether the results are good or bad. All this guarding Henne and calling conservative plays does nothing but hinder his down filed game.

Either way our QB situation turns out, I hope Henne is ok and whoever starts Thursday better come out hungry and produce!!

Delusional post IMO...your bias against Henne has clearly blinded you...neither Pennington or Thigpen could have made some of the throws Henne did when out there today...pure touch and skill...give me a break...seriously...enough! You got what you wanted, Thigpen is the man now, let's see how he does...then I'll await the excuses
