darren mcfadden...no we have much, much more needs.
look at reggie bush and mario williams. bush was the sexy pick (mcfadden) and mario was the one who best fits the team. now every one says it was the best choice.
that leaves chris long and glenn dorsey, cuz i dont think jake long is a #1 overall pick and OT is deep this year. both would be good. but i think i has to be chris long, especially if JT is traded. we need a guy to get pressure on the QB and long is the guy. granted we do need a DT but there are alot of good 2-4 round DT and FA DT out there (Best possible choice:corey williams GB).
then we need to fix O line with OT and CB early (2nd round).
building the lines first is the way to build a team. you get a o-line for beck and brown and our team will look 300 times better. beck will show everyone that he is a franchise QB. a should also spend a 4-6 round pick on WR. a BIG guy who has decent speed and GOOD hands, possibly a third round if there is a WR that has fallen to the third. A TE isnt an instant need but we do need to adress that position. if not a 2-3 on fred davis or rucker then maybe a 5th-6th on tennessee's TE. a big target that is awesome at blocking and has good speed and hands for his size. our TE cant block at all. We might want to take a look at an OG in draft or FA. my best choice would be signing Max Starks out of FA or though draft, maybe a 5-6 rounder. i like miami university OG Bain. he is a goof Run blocking Guard. also i think a WR in FA is a must, either bryant johnson, patrick crayton, or benard berian

but mainly we have to get help in the trenches before we are gonna be good enough to contend.

I too think this is the best pick for the team. This year one of the worst parts of the defense has been our pass rush. It's been aenemic to say the least. Pressure on a QB disrupts a whole offense, and creates turnover opportunites for the DB's. Something else (turnovers) this team has sorely lacked this year.

I am starting to lean more into Chris Long over Glenn Dorsey a little bit. He's just an absolute beast, reminds me a lot of Aaron Kampmann. He doesn't take plays off and he likes to destroy his opponent. Right now, I know a lot of people here want Dorsey, so do I, but I think there's a bit more potential in Chris Long.

    My dream offseason would be:

    Draft:
    - 1st Round: 1A Chris Long or 1B Glenn Dorsey
    - 2nd Round: A guard/tackle and runningback [for insurance, hopefully Kevin Smith declares, he would be great in the 2nd round, he reminds me of Frank Gore]

    Free Agency:
    - LT - Flozell Adams for a good contract; I think he would come at a fair price and he's a veteran and solid offensive tackle. Move Carey back to RT, where he is at his best. Re sign Hadnot and hope that Mormino is ready for LG. Adams, Mormino, Satele, Hadnot and Carey; sounds like a solid line to me.
    - WR - Patrick Crayton; would look good to play along side 2nd year Ted Ginn Jr. Think we can get him for a fair contract but would not be surprised if a team overpays for his duties.

    Dump:
    - Trade or throw away Marty Booker. He just doesn't have it anymore.
    - Trade Jason Taylor for draft picks; unless we have a new PROVEN head coach (we can only hope), the guy doesn't want to play here.
    - Keith Traylor, time to retire man. You had a great career.

I think if we make these moves, it would be 1. affordable within our cap, and 2. have a positive result in 2008.

Yes, it is easy. Dorsey is the pick.

If Brown is slow getting ready you take Slaton in the 2nd round.

I'd take Dorsey and then find a pass rusher with the next pick.

I understand you called it a "dream" but still, what makes you think these guys are going to just flock to Miami for fair-market deals after they have had one of the worst seasons in NFL history and turmoil with the front office/coaching staff?

I think Gholston would be a great pick even at #1 but if we can trade down and pick up some extra picks for him, even better.

Dorsey's nagging injuries concern me and for those doubters out there ... watch the National Championship game and see who the best defender on the field is.

IMHO I think we need to bolster the Defensive Line first because we can't stop anyone on the run plays and also put pressure on the QBs. Then Cornerback is the next top position to stop the passing plays. I hate to even mention our QB position...

That's why we should go after one of the big name CBs in Free Agency. Sign Samuals/Trufant, draft Dorsey, and thats two giant steps in the right direction for this defense.
