Well, true enough, but Sparano really should not buy into the Jake Long the Natural storyline. McQuistan, or Carey or even Murtha all need reps at left tackle just in case, Sparano has to have someone ready to step right in if Big Jake's shoulder just gives out on him which will happen, the more fatigued Jake is during the game the weaker that arm will become and we are already down to our #3 Qb.
All true Pads, however I said it yesterday as well, dont buy into that #3 QB crap....there isnt much of a difference, if any between any of them....It isnt like they are going from Manning, or Rivers to the number 3...
Well, credit to Irish fy, having all 3 Qb's with starting experience is rare in the NFL as many times the #3 guy is either a never was, or a rookie from Middle Mongolia State U. Now talk about a problem let's say Long plays but they give him Te help, that takes Fasano out of patterns, "if" Berger cannot play there goes the hybrid Te/T, as Proctor is the backup Center. That means we are sort of down to the offense revolving around how well Lex Hilliard and Jeron Mastrud can help out Jake Long on Julius Peppers. Thiggy better limber up a bit extra before this game.
With the injury to Berger I wonder if they've given any thought to resigning Grove. I'm pretty sure he's still out there and at elast he knows the system. I think even off the street he might be a better bet than Proctor who's never taken a snap at center
for some reason i'm more worried about the center position than the OT. I kind of have faith we can get by at LOT even if Long cant play but if you have a hole at center, the entire offense will bog down since pressure up the middle is the easiest way to derail an offense
Just no time to do anything, if Sparano pulls this win out he should get a heck of a lot more credit as a HC than he currently receives. We could use one time practice squadder Andrew Hartline back as if he plays G/C that frees up Proctor to play C-G-T-Te if he has to play it.
agree. if we beat the 2nd ranked defense with a 3rd string QB and two injuries to our offensive line we should get high praise indeed. unbelievably tough schedule this year. this is the 6th team to have a top 10 defense we have faced this season
#3 ranked special teams unit as well, the Titans were #4, it has been a tough go of it this year. But still, I sometimes lose patience with Sparano's Oline tinkering, but watching him for 3 seasons now I've learned that they will get it straightened out even with the injuries. Funny thing was, and life for a head coach, just two weeks ago Sparano was saying "I thank god for Jake Long every week" Well, err, welcome to the NFL Coach Sparano...
well if we win in chicago and score more than 16 points i think that will be the offense's shining moment this season. we should get slaughtered but for some reason i think we'll be in this to the end
Bears have beaten 4 1 or 2 win teams, Lions, Panthers, Bills, Cowboys a win is a win, but let us keep some perspective on this.
We're playing at home. A huge advantage for the Thursady night game. I think last year we became only the second road team to win a Thursday night game since the current package came into existence.
yeah true Pads, I was one of the "trade Thiggy because Penny was healthy" guys, but those guys obviously knew more than us...they knew that Penny had the ability to be a 2 pump chump....
