Right now we are sitting in the 7th spot in the AFC. We are one game behind the Steelers who are 6-3 and two games behind both the Jets and Pats for the other wildcard spot. The Steelers in essence have a 2 game lead on us.

If we wold have won that game we would be sitting one game out of first place in the AFC East AND we would have a 2 game lead on the Steelers instead of the other way around.

The Steelers have Oakland, Buffalo, Baltimore, Cinci, NYJ, Carolina and Cleveland. It is the NFL and on any given sunday anything could happen but that is a pretty easy schedule. If we go 6-1 and they would have to lose three of those games for us to pass them.

I think it is more likely that the Jets crash and burn before that happens. The Jets have Houston, Cinci, NE, Miami, Pitt and Chicago before finishing with a bye week in Buffalo.

The critical part of the season is the NE, Miami Pitt stretch.

Long story short... not looking good for the Fins because of one crappy call.

Well...I certinaly dont think we will miss out if we go 11-5 so thats our number really.

I think no matter what happens if we hit 11-5 we will be in because Pitt and or the Jets or whomever will drop enough to land at 10-6.

So, in order to avoid the disappointment of 2003 (going 10-6 and still out) we need 11-5. Anything worse and it gets really, really hairy.

There is a hugh difference in 6-3 and 5-4. Does it make a difference for us, not really in my opinion. I just don't see us making the playoffs with the squad we have and the remaining schedule. We have not been able to put together more than two good quarters of football in each game. When we show we can stay focused for the entire game our record will show that we can overcome a bad call from the officials without it costing us a game.

The Steelers game will probably bite us in the end. Of course wins over the Pats or Jets would have made things seem much better atm.

    Well away from here
I certainly wish that on the series before we had done anything but run 3 times in a row. That didn't help us keep the ball and alter the course of the game.

11-5 means we probably beat either the Jest or Pasts, if we defeat both and lose a game to a NFC opponent it is still workable.

This Bears game is so huge, win it, then face Raiders ( a WC opponent) Brownies, Jets, Bills, Lions.

We could easily be on the cusp of 10-5 heading into New England, maybe 11-4, the Bears and Jets are tough challenges though.

No, not "wait till next yr" time..just yet, the Bears would be a NFC loss, while not good, it would not be as crushing as say a loss to the Raiders or Browns in the WC chase.

the loss to PIT does hurt very much .... and basically took control of our season away from us ... we do not control our playoff destiny any longer. BAL, PIT, NE & NYJ do regarding the WC slots, because of our conference record (and i don't see any team from the North or West having a legitimate shot at a WC). The only thing we can control is to take other teams out of the picture, such as TEN last week .... and OAK next week. I think the absolute best scenario given the remaining schedules is to roll into Foxboro at 10-5, and beat an 10-5 PATSY team and see where the chips fall.

Well, I think people are forgetting that teams do come back down to earth as the season rolls along, it happens every season.

For example if we win on TNF, and the Ravens or Steelers lose, we move into a tie for the 6th playoff slot, they do have the lead do to tie breakers, but then it becomes a race to see who loses first, and the ravens and steelers do play again.

Not as big of a loss as this Thursday's game. If we somehow beat the Bears, we could get healthy and go on a nice run. The Jets and Pats games could be the clinchers. If the Jets beat the Pats again and we run the table it could come down to the last game in Foxborough for the tiebreaker like in '08 (w/the Jets). How sweet would that be!?!

    Shades of '08?

That is even more true this year it seems, half way thru this season and there are no 0 or 1 game losers, paridy is the name of the game.

Now is the time to step up and win out, quit worring about what might have been or what others may do, 12 - 4 is more than good enough. 11 - 5 should at the very least get us in and who knows what happens after that.:hi5:

Thing is, as a dolfan 08 was more fun, especially here on the forums, there was far less doubting Thomasing and bickering over the Quarterback, and the WC was new and exciting.

I think this team is vastly more talented though.

This is just my opinion... but 11-5 will get us into the playoffs and that's truly where I believe we will end up. I know there has been teams in the past that missed the playoffs at 11-5, but that's very rare... and I don't see it happening.

We have games we should win in Chicago, Oakland, Cleveland, Detroit, and Buffalo. These teams are all extremely inconsistent and, IMO, mentally weak teams. You could make a debate for Oakland as I feel that's our toughest game of those five. Chicago is the next toughest but they are so very inconsistent and their offense line is awful. Pure garbage.

There are two games that we should split in New York and New England. I don't know which one we'll split, I'd put my money on New England if I had to choose.

I think this team will be mentally prepared for each game and we will reap the benefits from that. Unless Tyler Thigpen goes down and we have to insert Patrick Ramsey into our starting line-up, that's my prediction. Thigpen is a good player, possibly the best 3rd string quarterback right now and would be a very good 2nd string quarterback for many teams out there. I really believe in him to ride this team to the playoffs... especially if Jake Long will play through the pain, which I think he will.

I think this is going to be an exciting journey the rest of the 2010 NFL regular season that will end in our favor.

Huge. I love the phins, but I don't see us finishing 11-5. I doubt we split games at The Jets and the Pats, and I doubt WR win all of our other games. No easy games on the schedule IMO and this team isn't disciplined enough to only drop one.

Hope I'm wrong, wish for the best, but I'm not planning on watching our phins in the playoffs :(

Well if there ends up being a 3 way tie, it no longer goes to head-to-head. So it still depends on that as well. If say the Dolphins, Steelers, and Raiders get in a 3 way tie, head to head would be thrown out in favor of conference record or something. It gets confusing. But yeah, that horrible call cost us. And it sucks to blame a call, but the Dolphins still had the lead even with Field Goals. Well hopefully the Dolphins rally big time. If we go 11-5, better hope that loss is to the bears or lions. same with 10-6. If we lose to the Lions at home though, then we are not beating the Jets and Pats on the road anyway though.
