Tony Romo was the guy I immediately compared Thigpen to when I first saw him play. When Romo busted onto the scene, he was 26. Thigpen is 26. Both play the same exact way. Fearless, will take chances, very mobile, etc.

While I'm skeptical as we all should about Thiggy's upside I think we can all agree we'd be happy as a pig in slop if he turned into another Tony Romo.

Yes a number of us still beleive Henne has good upside to be delveloped but that dosen't mean we can't root for having 2 solid QB's.

    Knock em dead Thiggy!

Wait, so Thiggy is going to run off to Mexico with a Grade B celeb and try and make the PGA's Pro Am tourney?

    :D

We'll see, to me Thiggy will go off for 280 2 Td's 1 int vs the Bears and his play will make fans go straight up addled minded.

I wouldn't be too surprised if he did. I would also be not at all surprised if a bunch of folk start calling for him to be benched for throwing the pick.

    Here is my thinking:

Thiggy's mobility in the pocket plays really well against the Bears Defense, we have plenty of underneath Wr's, so he will pick up cheap yards.

Add in Cutler being turnover and sack prone and chances are good we have one or two more redzone opportunities where Thiggy's mobility causes problems, that will lead to TD's.

But us fans do not see what reads he was supposed to make, or whether he tries to force the ball where he shouldn't.

As for the Romo stuff, have to wonder if Sparano is regretting saying that now that it has been hung around Thigpen, and his, neck?

    Wow!

We'd get a starting caliber QB AND another "Orange Carpet" partial owner out of that scenario!
    Bonus!

Not so much, I recall Sparano just casually mentioning it during a presser during TC this year?

Thiggy only played once last yr, and Sparano was in a foul mood after the Steelers loss, so this yr would make much more sense.

considering chicago has only given up 6 passing TDs all season, this would be a fantastic line for thiggy.

I've seen enough of Thiggy (in KC) to think he is capable of being a starting NFL QB. However, he has either not shown that capability to our FO (or the other 31 FO's) or all of them are wrong.

I have in-laws that live in KC, they are HUGE Chiefs fans. They loved Thiggy. They keep telling me that he will be great for us. However, they also thought Cassel would play the same way there as he did in New England.

well to be fair Cassel went to a worse team, so his play suffered partially bc of that,
the Chiefs of a couple years ago with Thiggy did not have the weapons we do now, plus thigpen has a couple more years of 'learning', so you can hope he'll improve rather than regress

True on both accounts. However, some people think that the QB is the beginning and end of the offense. The Pats are a very good team and have been competative nearly every season since 2000.

I would love for Thiggy to come in and create a QB controversy. Some people don't like those scenarios, but IMO they bring out the best in everyone. If Thiggy is good enough to warrant a starting position then that means he is playing better than Henne has. Which again, IMO, would be awesome because Henne hasn't played bad. He hasn't played great, but no where near bad.

My origional thoughts on thiggy when I saw him in KC was that he was a football player. I mean he makes plays, I dont think we will be having people saying that Thiggy needs to open it up. He racked up the fantasy points in his Chiefs days and they also used to catch a TD pass or so. I have to think we will be seeing at least one trick play with Thiggy in the game Thursday.

The coaches probally have loosened their conservative style since our trip to the QB repair shop. This game may not be a conference game but if we win we are 6-4 with a real chance of getting to the playoffs with national television coverage.

IMO TT is a gambler QB with inconsistent accuracy. I'm curious to see if he's improved his work habits after being around CP and Henne. I'm not claiming he was lazy as I don't know, but his play on the field was indicative of somebody who relied on instinct rather than study. In fact, I can't recall him ever doing something that struck me as the result of him having picked up a tendency in a defense or a player or really showing any development or improvement. When TT has had success it was based on his athletic ability (which is good) or luck.

FO's have missed before - all the way back to Johnny U. - picked up off a sandlot team. Kurt Warner was bagging groceries, so I read. Who Knows. But, if a Unitas and a Warner can happen, why can't we at least entertain even the remotest possibility that Thigpen could be a starting quarterback. To me, he's got his opportunity... go for it!!!

    Cameron?

And I agree. I think a good starting QB should be able to complete 60% of his passes +/- 2% over any segment of 100-150 passes.

You can't. Typically when a player reaches the pro's there are some things that can't be improved upon a whole lot. That's one of things that worries me about Thigpen. His accuracy is poor. Or at least has been over his 19 game career.

However, if you look at his one and only season as a starter he threw the ball 30 or more times in 10 out of the 12 games he started. In 6 of those 10 he completed 55% or more of his passes. He had a couple of horrible starts, but his average also reflects a few games where he came in for one or two series, in garbage time, attempted (most likely) long, desperate throws when the defense knew a pass was coming.

Accuracy not being one of the things that improves with training is a truism that many fans over look, Cam Cameron for all of the hits he took in Miami was correct about Brady Quinn, he was not accurate at Notre Dame, he has not been accurate in the pros either.

The thing with Thiggy is his first 3 starts were horrible, his next 7 were really good, and you don't know what you will get with him now as 20 total passes (3 Td's, 2 int's) is not really enough of a sample to say one way or another, though 20 attempts and 3 TD's is outstanding production.

make that 20 or so, I do not want to get hammered for "oh, he really has 22 attempts"..this is supposed to be fun not a research effort.
