Da Bears are #4 in total D, #2 vs the run, and are special on ST's. We have scared no one with our running game, our C is out, Long should be, and we are down to our third string QB. What is Henning to do? IMO, he needs to take full advantage of the unknown. Bears have little info on Thigpen, were thrown a curve when the WC worked, and little time to adapt to either/or. I expect Henning to run some WC, unveil the Wild Thig, and throw a few other wild things into his game plan on O.
I just hope the offense looks open and running like last week. I don't give a flying turd who/what is responsible for it not looking like that all year, just as long as it continues to look like that moving forward.
To me it's mistake-free football. We have had some great drives this year that were sidelined by bad plays, resulting in a TO or just stopping a solid drive. I happen to like Henning, and I think he'll find ways to get Thigpen running. He made some good throws last week on the run. I like our playcalling. We just need to execute and play mistake-free.
Just don't turn the ball over, and we should be OK. 20 points and 0 turnovers will win this game for us.
It could be a game where 2 TD's win it. The way Cutler throws the ball all over the place we will have a chance to pick off some passes, but we'll also likely struggle against a good bears defense with our 3rd string QB. Yes, he has made 11 starts in his career, but he's still pretty inexperienced. The defense is somewhat simplistic being a cover 2 but they are still pretty active.
Expect lots of waggles and maybe the pistol, Henning had a decently mobile qb in Joe Theisman in DC and knew how to use him effectively, and Theisman's arm was weak as a kitten's, this is going to be fun to watch fellas.
Why is it that, many a time, when we expect a low scoring, defensive struggle, the scoreboard is lit up? I could see that happening here.
I agree. It should be a lotta fun to watch. With the stars on D hurting, Nolan is gonna have to come up with a few things on his own. I'm looking for "Alias Smith & Jones" to come up with a few big plays.
It would be amazing if Jones in his first start had two picks. One for a pick 6. This is the kind of team we need a ball hawk playing in. I just want a win. Don't care how (defensive of offensive explosion), just win.
If Wake really is 100% I expect more base 4 dline looks with lots of nickel and dime which Nolan will use to blitz Cutler. As for Thiggy, watch..zone read, make Peppers make a choice, Thiggy rolls outside of him with pass or run option...
Bears have had about 48 hours to adapt to a new QB, and game plan. That normally leads to giving up big plays.
expect a lot of pressure straight up the middle with the change @ center. should have kept Grove on the roster. only place to run is between guard & tackle. Thigpen may wind up with more rushing yards than the RB's. screens may be a big part of the game plan. time for the WildCat with a QB that can run & throw? this should be interesting, if we can pull it off, we can do anything
