That it was, and once they noticed we couldn't block and wouldn't run, that stacked box became the box at which extra players came from against our beat up oline.

Not when you have a mobile Qb..whom they did not move out of the pocket...which is why I've gone from liking Henning to liking the thought of him leaving.

It is fairly simple to block for a rollout left or right, yet we rarely did so..

Oh i agree fully, but he just had him stand like a statue. Do you also notice the Running backs dont really run routes, they just run out into the flat, or turn the flat run up the sideline? I want Henning gone, i want someone who will change things up. When we have issues running, why don't we every try to spread them 4 wide and run from that?

Exactly, Thiggy had the same Kill option Henne had, but instead of killing it to a run, he went with passes 4 times in one drive, which I really like about him, that is not the "safe" play.

I agree. It was a high risk play. Reminded me of the Ted Ginn reverse against Baltimore in the playoffs that completely killed a drive where we were gaining momentum.

Mostly, I thought Hartline stepped up and was the only one making plays, the Bears just would not let us throw to DBess..period.

In my mind, the late game throws to Bess were Thiggy's worst of the game, he had 3 bears jerseys around him.

Yeah Hartline did play good. That one pass to Bess i thought it had Hospital visit all over it.

Umm what? Marshall was known in Denver to have some butterfingers every now and then too. He's had some issues with that his whole career.

Everyone talks about Hartline being one of the few bright spots in the game but to me I think that play was the begining
of the whole negative tempo of the game.It was deflating.

There was a lot expected from Hartline this year but he has not met the challenge or expectations IMO.He has had some key mistakes.

he seems to have improved the last few games but he was very hit or miss early in the season

I felt a bit of pity, and a lot of admiration for Jake Long. He was no where near close to himself. He should not have played but, did so with basically one arm.

He's a punk.... nothing's changed and he's about one little hissy fit away from this really blowing up on us.

Meanwhile, Dez Bryant, whore mom and all.......is as good as I told you he was. He's easily worth Jared Odrick and Marshall combined....make no mistake about it, your boy Irish blew this one like the crack whore he called Mrs. Bryant.

He asked if she was a prostitute, whores do it for free.

There is no way to know as Odrick has played 1 half or so of football this season.

And to be clear, you are not a Marshall fan?

I'm a fan of his talent and I was a fan of taking a shot at him after it had become obvious Bryant wasn't going to be drafted.... what I've seen lately of him is IMO our worst fears coming true. He really needs to grow up and earn his money.

Well, I think there will be a love/hate relationship with him until the team wins.

For example, there are some things I like about his game, some things I cannot stand about it.

I think the biggest problem is we thought we were adding his talents to that tough physical running game we used to have.... he fit great, in last year's offense.

True, and tbh, he really has not earned the name "Beast" in Miami, we thought we were landing a RAC and YAC stud and instead he just really has not shown that in Miami.

And here is the other thing, I believe in the short term, we are better off without him, if he misses some practices and maybe the Raiders game imho it will help things for the offense simply because there won't be the alpha male type that colors what we do on offense.

There will be no need to "feed the Beast".

Ummm, at least ATTEMPT the Wildcat??

With our third string QB starting, we didn't even ATTEMPT a scheme that has given us success in the past.

Remember last week? After Henne went down and we ran the Wildcat 5 times I think it was? We actually MOVED the ball.

    We didn't even TRY it.

Without him the offense is less of a threat........ can't see how him not being there will help. If we go out there with Thiggy and no Marshall, it could be back to back goose eggs.

Bro, this offense is not a threat to anyone but themselves and to it's own Qb, we are in no danger of reducing the threat level to "suck worse" than a shutout at home..

    :chuckle:

For goodness sakes man, we are averaging less TD's per game now, then we did in 2007, it's not like we lost Emitt Smith in his prime here..haha..

I understand this but still..... you really want to have to sit through a game with the talent on Offense anymore watered down than it is?

Whoever plays QB needs all the help they can get just to survive..

Well, if the replacement guy fits what we do better, why not?

The problem isn't the receiving corps it is the Oline, and heck even Greg C can do what Marshall has been doing, I'd bet that if you compared Camarillo's 08 stats until he injured his knee, they would be really close to Marshall's stats this season.

    55 catches for 693

    55 for 613

    Who is who?

Enough with the OL they had one bad game. In the early 2000s we regularly made up for that. It's the f'in 3 and 12 PA with Peppers taking a long route exactly to the spot where Thigpen is going to be against an injured Long that annoys me.

If they really want to change it up, go sign Tony Ugoh see if he can play a decent RT, move Carey to LG, sign Grove, and start Jerry. It might take a couple of weeks to get up to speed but it's better than the ****ty run blocking OL we've thrown out there.

    LT- Long
    LG- Carey
    C- Grove
    RG- Jerry
    RT- Ugoh

You could also have Carey play RG in that and Jerry at LG. I'm not sure which one would pull better at this stage, probably Jerry considering his youth and the fact that he's in better shape.

    Late to the game but...

Two weeks ago Iowa State played host to Nebraska. We won at Nebby last year, and tied it up with a minute and a half left this year. In OT Nebby lost the toss so they decided to go against the 20 MPH wind (their backup QB was in) they ran twice for a TD (they finally wore our D down) and a 1 or conversion.

Iowa state responded with a 3 play TD drive that ended with a pass to the endzone.

They line up against the 20 MPH wind to kick the extra point. Hike the ball and ran a fake. Nebby flopped, the D scrambled to get into position but they were caught totally off guard. But the holder limp armed it into the wind (he's not a QB) and it got caught, fluttered up, and was picked for a loss.

We lost...ultimately the coach called a pass into a 20 MPH wind with a backup punter.

But it was the right call. We had practiced it to a T, and watched them all game. Absolutely caught them off guard. In the end it's the players responsibility to execute the play. It sucks, and was a ballsy call, but it was correct. The job of the coaches is to put the players in a position to win....the players have to execute. Gimmick play or not, it's up to the QB and WR to make that handoff.

Read my mind Jaj, though Ugoh would make better depth than a starter, he has not played football in 10 weeks.

I suspect we see Andrew Hartline resigned, as the 3rd C/G.
