Listen to his appearance on the Michael Irvin show.

A couple of things to note.

There is no, and I mean NONE, of any kind of blame game in his tone or his words. At all.

He brought up his own mistakes several times and owned up to them, each and every one of those mistakes, the drops as well as the penalty.

The first thing he talks about is how he has a nasty taste in his mouth because of how many people they let down.

Praises the coaches and how well they prepare them.

No foul tone when he talks about how he can't discuss his injury situation.

Explains that Jay Cutler is "like a brother" to him, and they were just playing around with each other when he flipped that ball to him.

Also explains that it was a "bonehead mistake" and he can understand how the refs would see it as him being ticked off, taunting, etc.

Funny story about how he and Jay were talking to each other a half hour before the game, having some friendly trash talk. He asked Jay how many times he was going to get sacked tonight and Jay replied the same number of balls you'll catch.

Important part of that being, the whole penalty thing was him being stupid, not being pissed off and about to explode.

Also disagreed with the assessment that Miami doesn't have a quarterback of the future, reiterated his belief in Chad Henne being a potential All Pro, said that when he got benched it was not about Henne, it was about everyone.

I think when certain people try and portray Marshall as a ticking time bomb, that's just a self-serving prophecy and it's interesting that they try and take a hand in making it come about, but Brandon Marshall appears no closer to "exploding" than at any time this year.

I would also note the same thing the WQAM hosts did, that while many of the players are skipping out on their day-after radio appearances, Brandon Marshall is coming on and doing his, and addressing the issues, talking about things.

This guy is a good teammate. He just does things in the heat of the moment without thinking sometimes, and when you point it out to him he realizes his mistake and owns up to it.

It seems like the only ones interested in Marshall exploding are those that cover the team, and one poster here.

I never got the impression that he was ever going to go off.

ARGGGHHHH Let's string him up!! He is terrible... he is personally responsible for every single loss this year! We would have won without him against Chicago. TRADE HIM for a 2nd round pick!!!

let's get that out of the way now.

Brandon Marshall is really making my life hard. I don't know how to feel about him.

He needs to make good on some of the things he's saying, cause his on the field product says one thing, and his off the field product is saying something completely different. I really don't know which one to believe.

I think everything is just exacerbated when we're losing games.

From 2008 to 2009 he had 205 catches and 24 drops. This year he has 58 catches and 8 drops. I mean, that's not exactly very far off the mark. That's 10.5% from 2008 to 2009, and 12.1% in 2010.

The penalties...honestly I can live with them because the way those delay of game penalties are assessed, it doesn't result in a 1st & 15. It's still a 1st & 10, only difference being you're set back 5 yards. Stupid? Yes. Costly? No. He's just doing something without thinking it through, he's not doing it because he's about to explode and become Randy Moss/Terrell Owens.

So what's he really doing that is drawing such ire? Not being very productive? He's getting the most coverage rolled his way he's ever seen in his career, and he even alluded to a week ago the fact that they took him in the film room and showed him film of the other top 5 or top 10 receivers in the league, and showed him that none of them were getting as much coverage rolled their way as he was.

Because of the coverage rolled his way, Anthony Fasano gets wide open and we have success there. Because of the coverage rolled his way, Brian Hartline has been averaging 84 total yards per game the last four games (which would pace him to be a 1350 yard player).

I thought his most questionable on field demeanor was last week against the Titans. But aside from that, he's not producing for understandable reasons and he's still doing a lot for the offense.

The little toss to Cutler was stupid but, innocent enough, as evidenced by Cutler smiling. Hardly taunting.

The comish had best allow a little tolerance for some player emotion or, we will have robots playing.

    Well away from here
It would be nice if he would simply produce. He has had issues with drops, which is not an unusual thing for him but, it would still be nice to get a little more without having to deal with the penalties the last two weeks. Its reminiscent of Bryan Cox when he used to go off and get 15 yard penalties at inopportune times. Emotion is good and all, but if not controlled its just destructive - no two ways about it.

But again I have to point out, his penalties have not been drive killers. They still result in 1st & 10. It's just minus 5 yards. And after it's happened two weeks in a row, I doubt it will happen again.

Just an example of one of those inconsequential things that people will focus in on because they're desperate to get their arms around an out of control situation that is extremely difficult to truly diagnose.

Thanks for posting this CK... I must admit I was frustrated with Brandon last night, but heck, I got frustrated with *everyone* on the O last night. He was starting to produce right before he got hurt. Not sure it was going to make a difference as the offense as a whole seemed incapable of going more than a few plays without a drive killing play occurring.

I'm glad to hear he's still backing Henne. That says a lot about both players to me. And I need all the positives I can get, lol...

I would like to hear Cutlers side, but i have no reason to think what Marshall said isn't true. It was still boneheaded none the less, for the fact how the refs look for anything to throw a flag on.

I don't think he's a bad dude, just still shows flashes of immaturity from time to time on the field. The Fins are paying him a lot of money to be a professional football player, and he needs to start acting like one.

    EDIT

Cutlers already spoke. Marshall was spot on

I think Marshall needs anger management. I had a girlfriend once who would blow up and later apologize. She did this constantly and eventually it got old real fast. She is no longer around. :wink2:

Since he's been here he's always said all the right things. I'll give him credit for that. But not much. He gets credit when he starts doing all the right things.

He can own up all he wants but the real way to show he's sorry for all that is to make it right during the game.

I will say that Marshall's outbursts are merely out of passion. I f the guy didn't care he wouldn't get upset. Really I wouldn't mind everyone else showing more emotion on the field.

What I don't like is his stupid antics like throwing the ball to Cutler and all his stupid faces when he doesn't catch the ball. Just needs to keep that childish stuff off the field. I also don't like the fact that over the past two games he has dropped more than a few spot on passes. Imo he has been out played by Hartline the past two weeks in a row.

I know his coverages are a bit different, but his effort hasn't been there. Hartline has played his *** off the past few weeks. I know he has dropped a few as well, but he has shown much more effort in his play overall vs Marshall. I love how most people on this board talked sooo much ish about Hartline not being good enough or not being able to catch/hold onto the ball. Now he makes some plays and people like him again......Hartline hasn't changed his play, we simply started giving him more shots. His effort has been tremendous this year. When he lost the ball a few weeks back, it was because he was trying to fight for extra yardage. You can't fault him for that, I wish sometimes Marshall could put forth effort like Hartline. I think he could do a better job in getting open more

As a side note, living in Phoenix, I really never get that much opportunity to listen to talk radio from Miami. But after listening to Michael and the other guy talk to Omar, I can not believe how horrible they are or really how horrible Omar is. I know quite a bit of people have said the same thing, but damn he is ******.

I have nothing against Marshall. I think with a deep threat on the other side and a QB that can quickly read defenses. Marshall would be the same type receiver he was in Denver. He is making $10 million a year and he is upset with how he is playing and the team is playing. I much prefer this attitude over someone making $10 million dollars and not caring enough about how he or the team is playing.

I see these players as Thoroughbreds. If you get one, you better be ready to saddle up and compete with one, or they get restless in the stable. While our system is based on more of a "pack mule" approach, I think we knew going in the inherent nature of these specialized recievers are different for a reason. Different stock, different training, different approach. While I do believe we got one with more "utilitarian friendly" ways, if he's not producing downfield, all warranties become void.

As I have said all along. This is what you get with Marshall. He is a talented receiver, but he also doesn't really think about the consequences to his actions until after they play out. This won't be the last time we see him do this song and dance. You just have to assume that we will see things like this every now and again. Throwing balls, punting balls, basketballs, etc.

I really hope he does chill out and do what he came here to be paid very well to do...... however I don't trust this guy. I think it was pretty obvious he was beginning to unravel and well hopefully he'll pull it together. Those things he did this past couple games are exactly the kinda behavior we were afraid of, it needs to stop.

It's not about me man it's about BM. Messing up and apologizing later doesn't help us win football games and that is what he is paid to do. It's not about flipping the ball to your ex teammate and trying to be funny. Show a little class and play football.

I believe you took a lot of heat when you called him out somewhat...It was deserved..he's had a bad year thus far..

I appreciate this post by CK because I think it's true, the media is looking for a story that is not there..the cutler thing was just a joke..its the consistent drops that are pissing me off..

Brandon Marshall imo is a reactive pass catcher, when he doesn't have to think, he usually secures the ball, when he does, inconsistent...

He was a safety most his life..

He also needs to realize that you can catch the ball with your arms and body, it doesn't always have to be with just your hands, especially when the ball is coming in below your pec's.

He does not need anger management imo. To me, he just needs to plain and simple, grow up some. Throwing a tantrum does not have to mean his temper needs to be tamed. We want players angry sometimes..

by the way, why do I get the feeling that your X tells the same exact story to people except she says you blew up then said sorry 5 minutes later?

    :)
