The jets December schedule is BRUTAL

    @ Pats
    MIAMI
    @Steelers
    @ Bears
    BUFFALO (Jan 2)

Not only are three of these games against division leaders, but they are all outdoors, in the cold weather. Last time I checked, Mark Sanchez don't play so good in the cold. Ladanian Tomlinson is no spring chicken. Those old-man hammies tend to get sore in the cold weather.

We all remember 2008 jets. Sitting pretty at 8-3, coming off a big win at the Titans. Everybody was talking about how the jets were the best team in the league. They proceeded to win only one more game, finishing 9-7.

    History will repeat itself.

We need to win out and have them lose three out of the last five. That's just to get into tiebreaker scenarios. We really need to win every game and have the Jets, Pats, Steelers, or Ravens fall apart in December. This is a tough year, some seasons we would still be in pretty decent shape right now. That ref screw job in the Steelers game could really bite us in the rear.

    No..Incorrect.

Vs Cincy he threw zero picks.

In the other game under 40..he threw 3 picks. That was vs Atlanta.

The game he threw 5 picks was vs Buffalo in October of 2009.

In the playoff game in Cincy it was below freezing..

    12-15 182 yards 1 TD 0 INT

    LMAO! Poor Jests fans.

Can you guys never get anything right?

The Oct. 2009 game was the first game Sanchez ever played where the temp was under 55 degrees. The game time temperature for that game was 42F with a wind chill of 30F.

    Here is a quote:

It was body-numbing for the fans who sat through it at the frigid Meadowlands and mind-numbing to comprehend. The Jets rushed for 318 yards, including a franchise-record 210 by Thomas Jones (71-yard touchdown run), but they committed six turnovers and blew a 13-3 lead to lose their third straight game. The horror show ended on Rian Lindell's 47-yard field goal with 2:44 left in OT.

    http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...ss_to_bills_a_kick_in_the_pants_for_jets.html

So if the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS calls the temperature "frigid" it must have been pretty cold.

So, thanks for proving me right. In Sanchez's 3 cold weather games he has thrown 8 INT's with 1 TD and is 1-2.

    BWAHAHAHAHA!!!

I guess compared to Miami weather, 42 degrees is arctic cold. We'll just throw out the fact that it was his 6th game as a pro. I'm sure that had nothing to do with it. It was the 42 degree temperature. I'm just not sure how to explain the playoff game in Cincinnati....21 degrees with a windchill of 9....yet by some miracle he was able to go 12/15 for 182 1/0 for a QBR of 139.4. Go figure.

Ok - what am I missing. What does the 2008 team have to do with what the Jets are going to do this year? Different coaching staff, different QB, different RB's, different #1 and #3 WR's, different secondary except for Revis (who was a rookie)...I mean come on. What that team did has no bearing on what this team will do.

If anything, I would look at last year where the Jets were 4-1 in Dec/Jan with the same coaches and more of the same players. But that doesn't fit the December choke profile, so I guess we will take a pass :D. BTW, what was Miami's Dec/Nov record last year?

Not to back a Jet fan, but 42 degrees with a windchill of 30 is pretty dam comfy in NJ in the winter. I would by no means call it frigid, maybe chilly.

Hey, it was the NY Daily News that called the day "frigid", take it up with them.

As for all the other excuses, hey, you can only go by what he's done. And so far in cold weather he has 1 TD, 8 INT's and is 1-2.

Again, the guy has played 3 games when the weather was under 55 F and he has 1 TD and 8 INT. 42 to a New Yorker may not be frigid (even if the NY Daily News says so), but to a So Cal guy, a 30 F wind chill is pretty damn cold. Besides, the original topic of Sanchez's cold weather play was brought up, a Jests fan tried to dispute it by using, for whatever reason, "40 F" measuring stick and was proven wrong.

So far at least, Sanchez has played bad in (to him) cold weather.

Marine - Sanchez has played in 4 games THIS YEAR ALONE, when the game time temp has been below 55 degrees: Buf, Cle, Hou, Cin. He's 4-0 in those game. I don't know where you are coming up with 3 games under 55 degrees in his NFL career. Might want to check your "facts".

Especially when split stats use 40 degrees as their temp cutoff for cold weather.
    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/splits?playerId=12482&sYear=2009

And since Sanchez sucks according to Phins fans, it is amazing what he has done in his career vs Miami...

    693 yards

    You're right, I meant below 42 degrees.

In those "cold" games, at least "cold" according to yahoo sports, the end all be all of deciding what's cold in the NFL, he's 1-2 with 8 INT's and 1 TD.

Not only that, he's a typical lying Jests fan.

    His REAL stats are:

    693 yds
    6 TD's
    0 INT's
    53% comp rating

For comparison, let's see how well Henne has done:

    718yds
    5TD's
    1 INT
    64% comp rating

I can't believe the jets fans are still making excuses for Sanchez. This time, they're trying to debate the definition of "cold".

    This thread will be revisited.

The error was that I wrote 55 rather than 42 degrees.

Again, and according to the other Jests fan and yahoo, if you go by what they consider "cold", Sanchez is 1-2 with 8 INT's and 1 TD.

So, in reality, the OP wasn't stupid and is correct.

I was debating the part where he uses the late season collapse of 2008 as part of his argument.

And FWIW, I don't put much stock in the Sanchez cold weather statistic for 2 reasons: 1. limited sample size and 2. Sanchez was a first year rookie starter last year. But whatever blows your hair back.

You have to take my post in context. I was replying to something someone else wrote. It was just a simple ball busting back and forth. I am about as far as you can get from a "cocky" Jets fan. Come meet my son and ask him how Dad is when we watch the games (or even discuss the Jets for that mattter) He says that I write them off after the first 5 minutes of every game. :pointlol:

Honestly, no divisional game is easy and rarely are games our two teams play easy either. That being said, the Jets are going to be expected to win that game. They will only be favored in two games the rest of the way and that is the Miami game and the Buffalo game. But we all know that doesn't mean an automatic win.

Irregardless of the outcome of the Pats/Jets game, I am sure you will hear a lot of Jets talk in the NY media on how they should beat Miami. And a lot of that has to do with the fact that they already beat them in FL. Personally, I think the game is a tossup.

So long story short - I was busting balls :tongue2:

I don't put too much stock in it either. However, the other Jests fan wanted to know what the OP was basing his comment on and then tried to act as if Sanchez hasn't played badly in cold weather. I showed that he has played horribly (although his completion % is bad in both warm and cold) in games where the temperature was below 42 degrees. I don't think there is enough of a sample size to come to any conclusions or say with any confidence that Sanchez will ALWAYS played bad in cold wether, but that doesn't mean the OP was wrong in his statement. Sanchez, so far, has 8 INT, 1 TD and is 1-2 in games under 42 degrees. The OP was right and the other Jests fan was wrong.

If you include the wind chill, Sanchez has played in 7 games where the temperature with the wind chill was 40 degrees or colder. The games are:

    Start 6 - Buf 2009
    Start 10 - NE 2009
    Start 13 - ATL 2009
    Start 15 - CIN 2009
    Start 16 - CIN Playoffs 2009
    Start 27 - CLE 2010
    Start 29 - CIN 2010

    Combined in all of those games he is 99/185 1191 6 TD's 14 INT's QBR 52.78

In his last 5 cold weather games (temp with wind chill 40 or below) he is 81/135 936 5 TD's 5 INT's QBR 77.9

    In 2010 cold weather games (temp with wind chill 40 or below) he is 43/72 465 3 TD's 2 INT's QBR 81.1

In games where the temp with wind chill is below 20 (now that's cold, right?) he is 38/63 471 2 TD's 3 INT's QBR 74.2

See my other post. And if you want to include Sanchez's two worst games because the wind chill was below 42, then you have to include the other games I included. If you want, I can post the temp and wind chill for all 7 games.
