the realization that we need to find a franchise quality QB is a good thing, losing a game is always a bad thing. didn't mean to come off the wrong way, I've endured harsh criticism for my views on both Henne & Sparano didn't mean to appear with egg on my face, the truth is I'm profoundly sorry for being right. I wish Henne were the Franchise QB we had collectively hoped for in 2010 & that we had been a contender. hopefully, next year will be the year we correct course & put this thing together right. not much missing: QB, Center & Pulling Guard, a RB & ReturnSpecialist, a HeadCoach & OffensiveCoordinator. very doable
I think we can find all of those things accept the qb.We continue to make the wrong choices at qb dating back to trent green.I will argue until the day i die we should have drafted ryan unless by some miracle henne becomes the guy. I think henne will be the qb next year for better or worse because the draft is not deep and free agency offers nothing better.
Trent Green ? You mean Fiedler, Lucas and AJ Feeley were the answers ? I hate that game of Jeopardy you are playing......
This would be funny, if it wasn't sad. I'm not talking about our qb situation, I'm talking about you creating this thread.
You misunderstand me,wanny picked fielder over trent green. So we could have a young trent green, drew brees twice, and we picked ronnie brown over aaron rodgers, plus ryan.We keep making the wrong choices at qb.
Unless we draft in the top 10, we are going to have Henne next year as the QB. I doubt we will draft in the top 10, so just pray that Henne gets it together the rest of the year and into next year. A healthy Marshall would sure help, as well as a new TE from the draft or FA. Can someone please teach Henne how to play fake? He must have the worst play fake I have ever seen, he does not even attempt to get even close to the RB gut. This drives me nuts, this is taught at high school level.
23rd, you've taking a lot of heat for your views on the 2 subjects, and they way you express yourself, however, at this point and time, noone can talk sh$# on you...your points were valid, I just think they got lost in the translation of color..
Please don't encourage this dude DJ. Anyone who thinks 25 games is enough time to make a definitive judgement on a QB like Henne is either a genius, or a moron. So, people don't think Henne is a franchise QB. Great. Neither did anyone else in the NFL, or else he wouldn't have been available late in the 2nd round. Henne is a project that will need years of development before he can become an upper echelon QB, if at all. This is obvious to the point that it doesn't need to be said. So "realizing" as much is hardly grounds to be patting yourself on the back. Ask 23rd what he thinks of Henne's play vs Cover 3, Cover 2, Quarters, Man, blitz, zone. Ask about his footwork, release point, eye discipline, pocket presence, courage and leadership. Does he slide his protections properly? Which routes does he throw well, which ones does he struggle with? I could go on, but I think you get my point. If you can't speak on all of those topics and more, you have ZERO business stroking yourself about how you were right about anything Henne's career related. What we have here, is a well meaning (I assume) fan who doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. I accept that the Henne bashers will grow testes after he has a bad game, but you don't have to encourage them, please.
I want to point out I thanked your post not because of your defensive stance on Henne, but the actual logic behind the post in player evaluation. Great post brother!
23rd will ignore any post or thread with an ounce of rational, reasoning or common sense. Once again, 23rd would have traded away Manning during his first 2 seasons of play if he were GM for the Colts. Hell, Manning has thrown 11 INT's (something like 4-5 Pick-6's) in his last 4 games. Look, Henne has had a bad season. In his first TRUE starting season. Anyone remember Sanchez last season? With the exception of Dan Marino, can anyone name me a QB who was elite their first season? On top of that, how many passes has Henne had dropped this season? Hell, yesterday he had a few KEY balls dropped. The first INT, HORRIBLE pass. He tried to put a touch on it instead of drilling Hartline in the face with it. The second INT was a late throw. No excuses. He got the ball there late. The 3rd INT was just dumb luck on the side of the Brown's. However, if all a person does is look at the bad, they won't see the good. Henne made an awesome throw to Fasano on that TD. He drilled it into a window smaller than the brain currently taking up space inside of 23rd's cranium. ...j/k 23rd...maybe. On top of all of this, if Carroll makes that INT, we win the game and instead of bashing Henne we would be saying he played just well enough to win, but needs to keep improving.
man up, grow up, have your circle jerk & get it over with... if you are a dolfan, @ this point in our game, all you can do is admit the obvious & move on hoping to have learned from the lessons of 2010 & that they will be corrected by the powers to be. I believe next year can be competitive for Miami & am looking forward to the exit of Sparano & Henning, along with the draft & free-agency to correct the offense. hopefully, a SuperBowl is in our near future. I've been with this franchise since their very first game in Miami. the only games I've missed were because of VietNam or a death in the family. a large segment of this forum is made up of this kind dedication & loyalty. better days are ahead, the defense & Nolan are reasons for hope.
There are homers and then there are haters. You're the latter. Why don't you ever answer a question? What makes you think you can judge a QB based off of 25 starts? What is your NFL talent evaluating experience? Which WR's on the Dolphin's roster is either not green or has been with Henne for more than a total of 1 and 1/2 seasons worth of games? Listen, I'm not saying that Henne is a great QB. I'm not even saying he will for sure be a great QB. What I am saying is that he needs more experience and more time to determine if he'll be a long term QB or not. Saying that, he's shown flashes of being really good.
It's time for the Dolphins to wake up and realize franchise QBs are generally found in the first round. It's not a position you can bargain hunt for. Still holding out hope for Henne, but it's fading fast...
Even if 25 games "isn't enough time", it is a valid question to discuss whether enough has been seen within the context of those 25 games to make a decision whether or not investing another 10 games is wortwhile. Yeah, Manning wasn't great his forst season, but he showed enough (and as the #1 pick he had more rope) to make it worthwile to continue the evaluation
You know, WADR, it doesn't take an NFL coach or a QB guru to come to the conclusion that our Mr. Henne is supremely average and is not a lock on anything concerning the NFL QB position. All one needs to know is that after 26 starts, 3 years in this league, 3 training camps, and countless hours of passing and film study his record is 13 and 13 with 24TD's and 29INT's on his resume. I'm not impressed, yet. Why are you? the 23rd is a fan and has been for along time, in my eyes, that gives him every right to have his say. We have agreed and disagreed many times he has never been disrespectful in his answers to me nor, I hope, me to him. Why do you feel the need to call him out by talking down to him? If your views are different, by all means lets hear them, starting with the answer to your posed questions and Henne's QB grade, as you see it.
Henne should really be given credit for the Tennessee win this year, which would make him 14-13 as a QB. I realize he didn't start the game, but he was in charge for al but two play until he got hurt himself. And actually, he should NOT be given credot for the Bears loss since Thigpen started and threw up all over the field. So really, 14-12 is realistically his record as a starter. Just sayin'
23rd, I disagree with your harshness. I too, have been here since the beginning with this team...countless hours at Biscayne college, etc. (BTW, Vietnam held me out of some games as well), but that said, getting hostile at those who disagree with you accomplishes nothing. No one can deny that things haven't gone the way we want it to. Henne isn't there yet, the OL is mediocre at best, the TEs and RBs are also mediocre. The WRs have potential as yet unrealized (Hartline's youth, Bess' limitations, and Marshall's health). Henning makes too many calls that you just have to scratch your head and wonder out loud why that particular call was made. Finally, Sparano stops jerking around the OL and then injuries start to set in. Let's not even start on the D, as it also has been inconsistent. However, all is not lost. It's not time to start over completely again...Sparano talks a lot about accountability, well Henning, IMVHO, needs to go first. Henne might still develop further. He has shown enough signs that he has the right things going for him. The RBs are at the very least stable this year. Neither (RW, RB) are stud material, but both are too good to let go right now. The WRs have shown some ability despite the drops. Even Fasano has had a good spurt lately. The D was in the position to make the play that wins the game for us even tho they didn't come up with the ball. The O has been in position to score when needed, even tho either a ball was over/under/placed incorrectly. That's not all coaching. Somewhere the player has to make the play and that's where we seem to be more off than with not having the guys in the right places to make plays...think back to Cam-Cams time for that...
Actually, if you count all of the times Henne has been taken out because of the WC it's less than 26 games. And I asked this once before, it was never answered, What did Manning show in his first 25 games that made people consider he was "elite"? Was it his 40 INT's? How about his 3 wins? [/sarcasm_mode] In truth, Colts fans were screaming for Manning's head after his first 2 seasons. NFL "experts" were saying he was a huge bust and that the Colts messed up big time by choosing him over Ryan Leaf.
Most coaches adhere to the principal that it takes 1000 passes to know what you have in a QB. Henne won't reach that number of passes by the end of this season. It would be premature for anybody to claim that they "know" what Henne will be. And it would be incredibly premature for anybody to claim that they were "right". Also this is a ridiculous statement: not much missing: QB, Center & Pulling Guard, a RB & ReturnSpecialist, a HeadCoach & OffensiveCoordinator. very doable That is a boat load of change. It is the opposite of "not much missing". That much change is what you hope to accomplish in two, maybe three off-seasons. It is basically a complete rebuild. If you keep the HC and don't go for broke on the only "sure thing" type QB in the draft (in other words keeping your QB), you might be able to make the other changes. Of course, odds are that you won't hit on all of those, so you'll probably still take at least two seasons for just those changes. If you change the HC and the QB then you probably end up staring over entirely. You might even end up losing the DC and having a whole new system on that side of the ball. Your new QB will still need about 1000 passes until you "know" what you have. Your new HC will probably need to turnover the roster to find his type of players and he may have to spend most of the first season figuring which players on the current roster are "his type".
You're simply wrong bro. Yeah. Peyton had 43 interceptions his first 2 years. You neglect to mention his 54 TD's over those first two years. And in what alternate universe did Peyton only win 3 of 25 games? The Colts were 13-3 his second season. So in short, you're just wrong because you didn't check or you're lying to make a point. http://www.nfl.com/players/peytonmanning/gamelogs?id=MAN515097&season=1999
This thread makes you look like a huge d-bag. I know this website is suppose to be like a family but this is ridiculous everybody is write once and a while and you dont see everybody making a thread about it. No offense but this thread makes you look like one of the biggest d-bags in this family
Let me put this in a way you can understand: No one owes you ****. A bunch of people knew Henne was garbage You are not special. Hell you are wrong 98% of the time. Am I being generous? Maybe You give everyone here a seizure. DIAFF
I think encouraging is the wrong word here...I try to get to know the people on this site as best as I can, IF I know they really love the team, I try to understand their history, what kind of person they are basically..23rd loves the team..we all play GM on this site, thats the hobby for me..so when earlier in the year he made his projections, no matter how they were interpreted, they were shot down with personal insults behind them, I dont think it was fair thats all...I have never seen 23rd treat someone mean..so why would I disagree with him with insults?, I wouldn't. his style is not for everyone, but thats not something for us to judge him harshly on.... The reason why I love this site is because of its members...no matter how crazy in some ways some of you are, the record does not lie...just know if you make projections its all here, and could come back to help or hurt the rep.. All that said, I think we all should at least try to alllow each other to be ourselves and let the record decide who is crazy.lol.. GM, you know I got respect for your eye, and I know you love the team, so if you start posting with unicorns and monkeys, iam gonna try to see beyond that and accept you too..lol
I won't go into detail Deej but honestly I caught the OP in a blatant lie and that did it for me. That is my beef. Hard to believe or listen to a single word of his banter now.
