Anyone else not get a good feeling from the guy?

I usually don't take much stock into these things because guys are so frustrated or emotionally exhausted because of the amount of effort and emotion the game requires. But, hell, he just seems to laissez faire to me. I understand it's not life and death. You have a beautiful wife and family that are much more important. I just get the feeling like this guy is trying to push this confidence thing on the media and it isn't there. Instead he's coming off like, he knows the Dolphins have nothing else and that he is what he is.

What do you all think? The players say he's a good leader though, so I certainly take their lead more than what I think from a post game presser, but my gosh...

There's no doubt in my mind the guy is. Maybe, I didn't do a good job of getting my initial point thought process across--so I'm sorry.

I guess what I'm thinking here is--does that sound like a leader of the team? Does that sound like a guy that feels like his career hangs in the balance with every play? Because like you, I agree, I think he's dying inside. I was hoping for some, hey I've got to be better than what I played like today. Or the team gave me every opportunity and I didn't get it done, some type of feeling where he takes the blame here. Instead I feel like he just brushes it aside by saying, it's not life and death, interceptions happen, I'll just work to get better. At some point that gets irritating to hear if you're a teammate. I knew it would for me.

Man, I don't know. I just don't. I'm torn between a stoic confidence, and an impassionate leader. And, after watching #13 play for 17 years, it's really hard. 'Cause he wore his heart on his shirtsleeve. I mean, you knew where his head (and heart) was. No question. Honestly, this guy is hard to get a read on. I know I would like to see more fire in his belly on the field.

For me, the next few games (basically the rest of this season) will go a long way towards my evaluation on Henne. Right now, after today...I've lost some hope.

    Well what do you expect.
    Should he be crying?
Should he be mad at him self?

While I agree he doesn't sound like a leader here. But how could you feel like a leader after it was really your performance that really cost the game/season. I hope he stays our QB, I like him and honestly it's too late to give up and try and develop another.

he kind of has the look or sound of a guy who is making the same mistakes and doesnt really have an answer other than I'll try to fix it. I think he's just kind of shellshocked now. i would expect him to have a good game against the jets if they play man to man but they probably will switch to cover 2. cleveland plays alot of man and they switched today to alot of cover 2. i think he realizes that's his weakness but he doesnt have a solution this year for it

A different perspective. I was at a Xmas party tonight with a room full of guys that were fans of several other NFL teams. they all agreed that Chad Henne is mediocre and will never be the QB we want him to be. On the one hand, we dolphins fans watch Chad and know enough to have a better idea of his potential. On the other hand, the room full of NFL -non-Miami fans doesn't have Homer glasses like us.

I still firmly believe that if you give Chad Henne a bonafide blue chip RB (not Ricky or Ronnie, they are good, but not blue chip - talking AP, CJ...) and a stud TE that he can be our winning QB. But, that holds true for quite a few QBs. On the flip side, I also firmly believe that with this coaching staff, Chad Henne will NEVER EVER live up to his potential. So, either get rid of Henne or fire the whole regime. Right now, I'm leaning towards the latter.

last year we concentrated almost exclusively on upgrading our defense and it has turned out well for us. 2011 I think we need to concentrate almost exclusively on offense and I think you'll see the unit catch up to the defense. A RB, Speed receiver, TE, OG who can run AND pass block and maybe a center who wont get blown up in the run game. Might have to add a OT prospect in that it seems that Carey is getting beat up and may start to decline. If we got a OT like Demarcus Love we could start him at OG or we could let Carey go

we dont have to get all of these positions in one offseason but we need to get at least half of them

If he needs to apologize to the fans, so does everyone else on offense that committed a drive killing penalty, missed a block, dropped a pass, etc......

Just saw it. Acts like a guy that doesn't have that fire in his belly. No anger, no emotion. Very disappointing video to see. He just shrugs it off. That is not Super Bowl winning leadership. Please dear God get us a new QB !

Maybe he has no emotion because he's drained from having a terrible game, knowing it, and beating himself up about it on the inside.

I'm not going to go off how someone sounds after a game as evidence for or against their ability to lead a team.

If you want anger and emotion, we might be able to get Derek Anderson. I'm sure he has Super Bowl winning leadership based off his PC last week.

That's why I mentioned the initial thoughts in the post. It's tough to gauge right after. I guess I'm just tired of the same, I'll look at the film and get better. I don't question that guys guts. He's playing on a bum knee and worked his tail off to get back, but I just wonder that with the horrible Thigpen game and Pennington out, if he doesn't really have any fear of losing his job--because he certainly doesn't seem like a guy that is.

You did make a great point about Anderson though. I'd rather him be stone-faced than Derek Anderson-esque.

As an NFL QB Henne is garbage, its not like we paid him a ton of cash and spent an expensive draft pick ala Jamarcus Russell, its time to cut him loose he's a mediocre at best QB and we really need a good to great QB. As I've said before, this regime will not admit their mistakes (of which there have been too many to name), so not only should Henne and Henning go, but Morono and Ireland should get the axe as well....My guess all of these guys are back next year, assuming there is a season, and we finish 7-9 as usual.....Damn its painful to be a phins fan.

What else do you want him to say though? Everyone (the fans, the media, Henne, and his teammates) knows he **** the bed. What he says won't change the performance he had, or make it any easier to stomach. He let everyone down, and I guarantee he hates himself for it.

Henne should not be cut. At worst he's a #2, which we'd still need next year (we need a #3 as well).

And this regime doesn't admit their mistakes? How about cutting Wilford, Wilson, Grove, White, Turner, and Murphy all after a year or less? Guess that doesn't count though.

No actually it doesn't...Henning is a MISTAKE, Henne is a MISTAKE, wasting a draft pick, an EARLY 2nd rounder, on White was a MISTAKE (granted they cut him), starting Jason Allen was a MISTAKE, our ST coach was a MISTAKE, the fact that Parcells considers his time here a success is a MISTAKE...Seriously, after this season's performance the only thing we should be happy with is Cameron Wake's play, literally that is the only good thing this team did all year...and that would be hysterical if I wasn't a Phins fan.

But its ok, Morono will be back next year with Henne, both in their last contract year, and we'll finish 6-10 or 7-9 again. Then hopefully, we'll get a regime in here that can make us a contender, well I'm dreaming but sometimes dreams come true or at least that's what I was told as a kid.

If Henne can;t post some 90+ QBRs against zone and mixed coverage before the end of this year, I'd be ready to say he is not progressing fast enough for us to hang our entire franchbise's future on expecting him to be the guy.

his QBR is 77 for the year. It was 75 last year. Unless he finishes the year at at least 83-85 I'll have to say the boy just isn;t improving enough.

That is just the quantitative measure.

Qualitatively, my eyes see progress with Henne, but it's too slow. Too damned slow. One glimmer here and there does not outweigh a total lack of ability to play against zone defenses.

This is the damned NFL, if he can;t learn to unlock zone he's a backup at best.

He has four more games to show enough, imo, to not have the Dolphins shopping for a new franchise QB.

Sometimes I wonder how good we would be without Jake Long at left tackle.

Oh well. So, if we draft around 14th, which QB's will available?

I can't believe we're sitting here, listening to a guy talk in a post game press conference and assuming he doesn't give a **** because all he says is, yeah, nothing I can do now but go back, watch the film, figure out what I did wrong, and try and learn from it. Seriously? That's so bad to say? Give me a break. Then he goes on about being confident, and having to stay confident for the guys in the lockerroom... and that's bad and a lack of leadership? What do you want? Him to throw a tantrum up there, kick over the podium, fight with a reporter? Hell... different people handle things differently, one thing we've heard about chad all along is his composure, and how he's cool under pressure etc... and we're surprised and being critical of this reaction from him? He played like **** today, im sure he knows it, im sure he's bothered by it, he wouldn't be playing qb in the nfl if he didnt. Ridiculous..

Fans are being critical because it's not working... it's the same roller coaster. Solid one week, embarassing the next week.

I'm tired of the same pattern being repeated over and over and over.

He was programed with the same robotic answers for the sixth loss of the year as he was for the first loss.

The defense held the opponent to 10 points for over 59 minutes.

Ronnie & Ricky ran for a combined 98 yards, most of it coming in the first three quarters, no fumbles.

Henne's poor throws lost the game, plain and simple. We are now 99% out of the playoffs and back to a .500 record.

This isn't training camp, this isn't preseason. This is week 13. There is no more time to watch the film and keep getting better every day, that's baby talk.

Great. We all understand that. The fact still remains, what else do you want him to say in his press conference? He has to go out there and say that. Im sure that wasnt on his mind, but in the world of the NFL and having to be politically correct with the press or be fined, what do you really want him to say? Other than to go out there, admit his mistakes, vow to improve, and attempt to show a bit of leadership in doing so. There really isnt anything else for him to say, so why complain? We know he played awful. Great. Who really cares about these post game comments in press conferences where everyone in them is really just reading scripted lines weekly anyways. Its not different anywhere else around the league. Im sure Manning's comments were similar after throwing 4 INT's for the second consecutive week. The fact of the matter is, who really cares? I'll ask again, what did you want him to say?

I agree with you. Not to mention he has tons of more starts as a college and pro QB then kids like Sanchez, but they keep getting better.

The difference is they admit it was them.

Well Brandon, what I want is to hear him acknowledge some ownership of the loss. Let me hear you say "I sucked" today. Not "we'll have to look at film". He had all offseason to work on cover 2 defenses and now 12 games. He still doesn't get it. Should we just let him not play the games if other teams are going to use a cover 2. Have other coaches agree only to play man when we start henne?

So you want him to state the obvious? Great, because that accomplishes alot. He did admit to his bad play. He said he made mistakes, and has to look at the film and try and learn from those mistakes. I don't see what the issue is here other than complaining about something that is irrelevant.

I say you let him keep playing. What more have we got to loose? Get someone on this inept coaching staff to try and teach him something about the cover 2 and how to defeat it, coach him out of his mistakes. I can't see us presently doing that if our offense and QB continues to look this bad against that style of D. Exactly what are we teaching this kid if its not improving? His touch passes have gotten better, we've seen that. His awarenes is a bit better, we saw him escape the pocket and run a few times today, we can see that. We can see him at times looking over his progressions, although there's still soem lockon throws, but we can see it. What we can't see is improvement against certain defensive formations. Why? Is he not getting it? I suppose its possible, but I don't recall issues like this against those types of D's in college, so what is it that we're teaching? If anything? These are the area's we need to be concerned with and discussing, not some stupid meaningless scripted comments in a post game press conference. Like I said, people are just looking for something else about this guy to ***** about, instead of trying to figure out what the problems are. Nobody wants to look at that, its easier just to say... "he sucks", "he's not a franchise qb", "he's a bust", "he's a fish" blah blah blah.

That's exactly my point. Who cares? This is a complete non-issue IMO. Yet people want to pick it apart and blow it up. Its ridiculous...

    Watch Josh Freeman's post gamer.

    Subtle but significant differences.

He demonstrates a better understanding of exactly how close his game was, and he wishes he would have done this and this. He also states although Atlanta is a good team, his team was the better team for most of the day. That's what I want Henne to say, because it's absolutely true.

    Watch Peyton Manning's post gamer.

He knows where his team is in the division and playoff race. They just suffered their sixth loss like Miami, but Peyton talks about how close their division is and how they have a few division games left and that's what the focus is on going forward. Not "watching film and getting better".

Henne's expression and demeanor never changes. Not in the slightest. Would he smile if he won a championship??? Henne shows no acknowledgement that our playoff chances just went from 5% to zip. He doesn't seem embarassed that his team's record at home is 1-5 this year. He doesn't acknowledge the defense doing a hell of a job holding the opponent to 252 yards (second lowest of the season from an opponent), and the game was in his hands with a minute and a half to go, and he didn't make it happen. A leader knows those things and talks about them.

If Henne would have done his job and hit the deep ball to Hartline, we would be celebrating a win (not giving two craps about post game pressers). And I want to hear Henne say it.
