If he can fire Bonamego, he can fire Henning. He was very close to Bonamego. I think Sparano believes the problem is Chad Henne and that's the reason why Henning hasn't been let go. With that said, I think their will be too much noise by fans/media to not force a Henning departure either way.
No I'm not negating Bowe's 2008 season. Nor am I negating Brandon Marshall's 2008-09 seasons. I am saying that Bowe's is producing at a much higher rate and it's not b/c he is a better player. Same for Thomas Jones/Jamal Charles vs Ronnie & Ricky. KC has the same guys on the OL as they had last year if I'm not mistaken. Clady is a nice player, not as well rounded as Long IMO. Kuper I'll accept your word on, though Carey is still a pretty darn good RT when healthy. Our running game performed better with Long-Alleman-Satele-Ndukwe-Carey than it has this year, so I'm not buying that lack of talent is the issue. I see us running the same friggin play over and over and over. Power. Power again. More power. Never mind that our guards cant find anyone on the second level, Richie especially. We just run it anyway. Fasano in short motion? Lemme guess, toss sweep? It's comical. We don't run the zone, or the trap, or the wham. We run power all day, with an occasional iso and a poorly timed draw play mixed in. Our play action fakes look nothing like our actual run plays, which is a problem if you're trying to ya know, fool the defense. I attribute all of that to the OC, and I blame Sparano for not having the knowledge and/or gravitas to step in and get it corrected. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying Henne is better than anyone of those guys. I'm saying that he is middle of the pack talent wise, in the same cesspool of mediocrity with Orton, Cassel, Garrard, Young, Collins, Fitzpatrick, Campbell, and several others. Orton was career back up to Rex Grossman and a throw away in the Cutler trade. Then he goes to Denver and is all of a sudden a good QB, a guy near the top of the league in passing yds. Meanwhile Cutler goes to Chicago and turns into a 27 INT bum. Coincidence? I don't think so. That's why Chicago has a new coordinator and OL coach this year. Same QB, same WRs, same RB, one new OL, but for some reason they are playing much better. I like to call that coaching. Henning lucked up in 08 with Pennington, a guy who doesn't need coaching for the most part. I haven't seen much of any development/coaching with Henne. The offense is clearly still catered to Penne's strengths. We have a QB who's strengths are attacking downfield, not anticipation skills and throwing super accurate lobs underneath the coverage. Its a match made in hell and anytime we've gone against zone this year we have struggled. I don't know if Henne is the real deal or not. I like his poise, his courage, I love his arm. But until we get an OC that will let Henne play HIS game then we won't know what we have.
I have no idea who's decision that was. All I know is I don't see anyone else on staff who could fill in for Henning if he was to be fired, Sparano doesn't seem to have a clue. I'm hoping Norv Turner gets fired but I'll settle for Kubiak. If Henning is the OC next season, then I'm rooting for a year long lockout.
if we could get norv turner as off coord i would do that in a heartbeat. Kubiak no thanks. his scheme and our personnell dont mesh at all. turner is one of the few names ive heard mentioned that would be an upgrade though.
i agree that there is too much media and fan anger that Henning almost has to be let go. But I'm not sure its 100% like most do. I think its a 75% chance. Like you said, I think Sparano and Ireland believe Henne is more of the problem right now. It will be interesting to see what they do this offseason. Personally I think they need to concentrate on upgrading the personnel on offense this offseason the way they did with the defense in 2010. I think thats really all they need to do
Are you ****ing serious? Yes. You're the ONLY smart person here. Just you. Man, how did you get so awesome at football? You're like, a GOD or something...I mean, everyone who disagrees with you is just part of a massive unthinking throng of uneducated and totally unqualified voices. If they had a clue, they woudln't disagree with you...because certainly anyone who knows anything thinks exactly like you do. Bravo.
probably couldn't tell you, because a good offensive coordinator would make some adjustments to make it easier to play the cover 2... such as spreading it out... how about getting the god damn FB off the field when your in passing situations? how about running patterns up the seam to open up some room on the outside...
the draft is the answer, there is no fixing a lack of talent can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear there will be no more waste of time & resource on Henne
there are a million more mostly Henning related pictures that were made in the Lobby... in the thread, pictures or videos that make you laugh or say damn... they are funny...
Actually the opposite. He plays very well against good defenses and especially predominant m2m teams. His best games have been vs. the Jets.
Easily one of the worst coached games I've ever seen yesterday. Sparano is worse than Randy Shannon for ****s sake, and Henning is obviously one of the bottom 3 OC's in the league, and has a career built of mediocrity. Fire everyone but Mike Nolan.
THAT is why we scratch our heads. This year..his best games? vs. The Steelers, Jets, Titans, Packers and Raiders. ALL good defenses. His worst? vs. the Pats, Browns. we don;t have a clue why that is.
I'd say he plays well against man and blitz schemes whiles struggling against shell and Cover 2 looks.
Speak for yourself . Our problems on offense are obvious IMO. The more aggressive teams are with Henne, the better he performs. NE exposed his weakness (Cover 2) and the smart teams have been capitalizing ever since. We just don't have the skill guys to attack down field, nor the running game to force teams into more favorable looks.
