I just saw the Pro Bowl ballots and of course there are no Phins on the AFC roster. Yes , I know what kind of season it's been but I wonder if they will put a player just because they need one fron every team. What do you all think?
By the way, here's the link: http://www.nfl.com/probowl/story?id=09000d5d80513551&template=without-video&confirm=true
Keep in mind that the Pro Bowl voting is weighted such that the fans count for 1/3, the coaches count for 1/3, and the players count for 1/3. That said, I don't think any Dolphins will get in this year. Pro Bowl voting, at least on the fan side, is based on popularity. I see so many players winning their positions who don't deserve it. At this rate, the Pro Bowl will be a rematch of Patriots/Cowboys.
You're right and I forgot about that. I just thought about Jay Feely, he's 17/19 on FG's and be an alternative.
Not one of those kicks has mattered...at all. Maybe one of our O-lineman could get the nod this year. I have no doubt Satele probably deserves a shot.
Satele has been fantastic, but the team's record is going to be held against him. Same thing with Carey last year: he had a Pro Bowl season at right tackle, but no one noticed.
If we get one of our QB's or CB's in the Pro Bowl, someone rigged it. Ronnie had been our only hope and that was gone in a flash.
No, it doesn't. Interceptions are great, don't get me wrong. But as the deciding factor as to whether a player deserves a Pro Bowl berth? No.
Not one of our db's, nor any of our defensive players deserve to be in the Pro Bowl...some of them probably should not even be in the league.
I don't know for sure but I would be willing to bet that the league leader in int's is almost always in the pro bowl, same with sacks...it does matter.
It matters only to fans who look at highlight reels and think that's how games are won. I vote for cornerbacks who are effective at shutting down their assigned receivers, not cornerbacks who are SportsCenter-friendly.
That is good for you, but everyone is not like you, and the majority of fans who vote don't watch all the games, they most likely do watch sportscenter highlights and vote based on most popular....or best stats, especially considering the way fantasy football has taken off...
good point, how many fans, voters and coaches watch each and every play by each and every player in the league and then decide who to vote for? Who has that kind of time? the coaches vote for their favorites (hopefully coaches aren't allowed to vote for their own players). The players vote for their homies and the fans vote for players from their favorite teams because that is who they watch and analyze (like you watched and analyzed JT.) Then in the end if they are not familiar with the they look to the stats...especially fantasy football geeks.
Walt Harris led the league in INt"s last year i believe, that or he sure had a lot of them, but he didn't make the pro bowl.
I believe Will Allen is the only player deserving of a spot in the pro bowl. Ronnie Brown should be there but we all know what happened to him.
There are rules and then there are exceptions. I don't necessarily think that int's make a great corner, (but they sure do help) and to the average fan player stats are something that is considered when voting for the probowl.
I just looked at the link and those are only the players with the most votes so a Miami player still has a chance of being an alternate.
Hardly. Our secondary gets lit (including Allen) and the league knows it. Will Allen is a fine #2 but he's nowhere near Pro Bowl level.
Funny, they all prefer to run on us. Anyway, if you actually bother to watch Will Allen play, you'll see what I'm talking about.
Well, they can run and pass on us. They might as well go with their first option since running the ball is safer. Yes, I have seen Allen play and I'm not sold on him being a Pro Bowl player. Plus, like the Buffalo game, he's only covering the #2 WR as a decent #2 CB. To be a Pro Bowl player, you need to rack up the ints and Allen can hardly catch.
I agree with Desides for a change. Will Allen has excelled on a team that hasn't. He is the only one that really deserves it. Satele has been good, but he doesn't have name recognition. If Ginn didn't have all of those touchdowns brought back, he might have more votes.
The player on our team that's got the best chance of going is JT. I don't think hes played well enough to go, but his name can get him in and if you just look at stats they don't look that bad. 8 Sacks, 4 FF, 1 INT, and a TD. I have also read a couple articles about the players they predicted would go to the probowl and both guys had JT going in.
