    Awesome Writeup on Main Page...

You want to see a great breakdown fellas go read Alens column Breaking Down the Jets Defense Pt 1.

An amazing look at a few formations we will likely see this Sunday and the best ways to attack it. I know we dont have Tom Brady but Henne has had some good games against this Jets defense that may be getting exposed.

I will say that while we have enough at WR to execute alot of these weaknesses....but unfortunatley the writer of the column isnt the OC and old man Henning is.

All and all a fun read and a nice platform to begin discussion on winning this Sunday.

Thanks Alen for taking the time...

Curious to see if Alen can let us know if they Jets used the same gameplan on Monday night as they used in their first meeting???

I did not get to see much of the game, only about 1 quarters worth...

    There's three parts to this.

Disnardo, thank you. They did some similar things but the gist of it was that they left their cornerbacks in man coverage and they finally got exploited. I had been saying that their secondary is overrated, sans Revis, and I said that a few months ago because I felt that they did not have the ability to play in man coverage, other than Revis of course. Cromartie is not as gifted as he's made out to be. I think he's an exceptional athlete but when it comes to fundamentals and technical aspect of the game, I think he's behind. Eric Smith does not play the ball well in the air, which you'll see me write more about in parts II and III.

Also, thank you to everyone else with the kind words. Very kind of you.

They will show up, I am positive of that. How they do is something that will be determined in the game. :)

I don't even want to think about last year's game in NY against Miami. Hopefully the 49ers don't release Ted Ginn.

I think they have a chance, if the defensive backs catch interceptions.

It's all on Henne, per usual, par the course....When you face the Jets you see a lot of 1-on-1 coverages due to the incessant blitzing, so he's gotta make the throws.

There were some liberties taken in these articles. I don't want to seem like a kilroy but this is football and anything said with any conviction can usually be proven wrong or at the very least cast in doubt. Me, I'm that doubter.

I just don't like that phrase. It infers that our quarterback will not have time to read the field if he's not in shotgun. The fact is that after the motion of Faulk (bottom of picture) Tom Brady is standing in the pocket like a statue. I'll get to the issue with that later....

It's not a "look". It's a coverage. They achieved the personel (two linebackers) by having one TE and one back in the game. This is a nickel defense.

I cannot dispute "unsuccessful" because I don't have the video.

This is what I will dispute. It was unsuccessful because the Patriots have Tom Brady at quarterback.

Don't you mean Tom Brady got the ball out of his hand?

Flatly, it is an incorrect statement. You can attack ANY coverage vertically.

Huh? Are the two safeties feet stuck in mud?

No matter what you call it, it's the cheap underneath routes that we complete day in and day out. The routes are gone when we get in the red zone. They are gone because the end zone now accounts for the two deep. THAT is the Miami Dolphins offensive problem.

But now I'm going to take you back to the first picture. It's first and ten at our 28 yard line. In that 4-2-5 you seem to see all kind of opportunity as a result of the spread look. Have you seen how many zone blitzes have been missed by Chad Henne this year?

What does this play look like when Jason Taylor runs a twist with the DT and the linebacker behind JT comes along with him. NOTHING is preventing the safety from covering the TE. Nothing is preventing the other safety from rotating to a single safety alignment. If Chad Henne reads the "hot" what prevents the safety covering the TE from the "Pick 6"?

You see opportunity. I see disaster. Rex Ryan plans for Chad Henne disaster. It's a different plan for Tom Brady.

    The next play:

It's a zone blitz. The personel was set up by 1st and 15. It's a known passing situation for the defense. With so few linemen, it's a perfect time to run which Dan Henning would succinctly be criticized for in the gameday thread. But as to your commentary. The receivers were running routes. My guess is that Gronkowski (upon seeing the blitz) turn quick off the line as he was the "hot" read. HIS MAN blitzed. I'll say it again. Do you know how many times Chad Henne has missed the blitz this year? Dan Henning knows. That's why you see Chad Henne in max protection on so many passing plays.

You are comparing a Ferrari with a four door sedan. Not that there is anything wrong with a four door sedan. You just can't compare it to a Ferrari. Heck, policemen chase them down all the time. BUT they use the radio. Get it?

    I love your "thinking".

It reminds me of the way my dog acts when he hears me putting food in his bowl. Purely instictive without much of a thought process.

Throw underneath. Throw at the safeties. Have quick releases because the Jets don't play a physical game at corner, even though the should. Complete a pass on Cromartie and you're off to the races until a safety comes over. If we rush 3 or 4, just wait, because you'll have 6-8 seconds to throw. If they blitz, you still have more time than you'd think, don't need extra blockers. Quick releases again. Blah. Runningbacks in the flats.
