1. Re-sign Ronnie to a one year deal/let Ricky go/cut Lex Hilliard

2. Pick up James Jones in FA. I like how we can have Marshall/Hartline/Bess be our top 3 receivers. I think that is one of the best 3 WR sets in the NFL. That is why I don't want a Sims-Walker or Vincent Jackson. Give us a receiver that can be a solid #4 guy and hopefully either Marlon Moore or Roberto Wallace develop. I'm sure one of them will.

3. Trade for a 2nd round pick. This is key in my wishlist. I don't know what we would trade for a 2nd, but I want a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th this year.

4. Draft 2 RBs pretty high. My dream would be to get Mark Ingram in the first and someone like Evan Royster in the 3rd or probably even the 4th. That would give us Ronnie, Ingram, (Royster), Cobbs heading into the '11 season. If we can't establish a running game with those guys, we won't ever be able to establish a run game. But, if we can, that will help out Henne so much.

5. Draft an ILB in the 2nd round. I really think Crowder's days are numbered in Miami and although I like Dobbins, I don't really know if I want him to be our starter for the future.

6. Draft another guard in the 3rd round. I really like John Jerry and his potential. I think getting another guard to start opposite of him, could be good for the future of our offensive line.

7. Promote David Lee to offensive playcaller.

I really think we are a few pieces away from a Super Bowl team honestly. If we can stay healthy also, we should make some noise next year.

Thoughts? Realistic enough?

If you don't mind me asking, why this?

Also, why 2 RB's high?

My wishlist:

FA: LG Logan Mankins, TE Zach Miller, re-sign Ronnie, re-sign McDaniel

Draft:
1st- Trade back and still land WR- Justin Blackmon (becomes our #2)
2nd- COP RB- Kendall Hunter
3rd- BPA out of MLB/Pass Rusher/SS/C
4th- WR- Greg Little (stud playmaker at a bargain price who moves Wallace to the PS where he can properly develop)

No one on this forum has ever been able to say WHY they want David Lee. Probably because they read it by someone else on the forum.

I'd make a couple moves. First I'd elevate Lee to offensive Coordinator, and encourage CP10 to retire and become our QB's coach. Then to the draft: I'd attempt to get Luck. He may be the best QB to come out in the last 5+ years. If he comes out. He may not. If he could be convinced to come out and if MIA could work out a trade to move up into the top pick with expendable players (Like Crowder, Carey, Merling, even Marshall, (Not Long, Wake, Dansby, Misi, Davis or Odrick) I would do it in a heart beat. If unable with Luck, the second alternative is to go with Henne for another year and go deep in this draft for someone to compete with Henne. The two guys that really stick out are not that highly regarded (on draft boards). First is Junior Kirk Cousins QB Michigan State- He is a 64.5 % career passer. Very accurate, Very Smart, has good size 6' 3" 205, is an excellent leader, and is very good with the football. It's been an impressive year for Mich. State including enduring the Health issues of Head coach etc. The young man is very impressive. Right now he is showing a free agent. My guess he'll go 6th or 7th round. If we can 't connect on the first two alternative, I go for sticking with Henne and drafting Kirk Cousins. Fourth alternative is Kellen Moore from Boise State. And true he is from the Wac and is a system QB and is short. Folks the kid can flat out play. Don't care what the system is. He holds a QB rating of 185 for the year and had completed 71% of his passes. For his career he owns a 68% completion rate. He has 33 TD's with (5) inteceptions and (5) sacks. That is incredible. I think he'll go in the late rounds probably round 6 or 7, maybe later. If unable Cousins I go after him.
I personally think alternative 3 & 4 are most probably. If so the rest of my draft goes like this:
TE from Free Agent market-Zach Miller OAK or Tony Scheffler-DTW
1. Trade down with SEA for # 18-20. SEA picks Locker.
2. Round 1-Pick Steve Wiesenski OC -Penn State (#18-20)
3. Round 2-Pick Jonathan Baldwin WR-Pitt (#45-#55)
4. Round 3-Pick Benjamin Ijalana-OG Villanova
5. Round 4-Pick Lee Ziambia-ORT-Auburn
6. Round 5-Pick Derrrel Johnson Koulianos WR-Punt Returner
7. Round 6-Pick Kirk Cousins or Kennen Moore QB-Mich. State or Boise State.
8. Round 7a-Pick Evan Royster-RB Penn State
9. Round 7B-Pick Schukar Ordt TE - Northern Iowa.

my wish list..

Mankin via FA

Draft:
Trade down and pick up a 2nd (much like we did last year)

1. Mike Pouncey OG Florida
2. Joseph Barkdale OT LSU
3. Alex Linnenkohl OC Oregon St
4. Cameron Graham TE Louisville (might be a little high for him)

Fill in the bottom of the draft with speedy guys at WR/RB positions... Wouldn't mind either of the QB's TenFinFan mentioned.

I am getting tired of Dan Henning and I don't know who else would take over the offensive playcalling duties. I rather give a less experienced guy the job and try him out, rather than continuing to watch Dan Henning diminish our offensive potential.

The redzone playcalling has been horrific, the Wildcat calls on 3rd and long, going deep on 3rd and 2, etc...It just gets tiring. I really feel like we could be around 17th-20th in the NFL in scoring, rather than 29th or whatever we are now. We settle for field goals constantly and lot of times it comes from Henning's playcalls.

He is a good gameplanner though. I will give him that.

--

Drafting 2 RBs high is for quite a few reasons actually.

1. Ronnie/Ricky won't be here in 2 or 3 seasons and there is a good chance at least one of them won't be here next season.

2. That would leave us with Hilliard and Cobbs. We all know Cobbs wouldn't be an every down back for us and I don't see Hilliard stepping up and playing much of a role at all, either.

3. Drafting 2 RBs (one in the first and one in the 3rd or 4th) gives us a good luck in the future. It gives us two RBs with good potential, that are young. If one of them doesn't pan out, then we have another young RB right there. If we are planning on keeping both Ronnie and Ricky for next season, along with our other two guys, then there obviously isn't any reason to draft 2 RBs high this year.

I honestly would love to grab DeMarco Murray in the 3rd, too.

I don't necessarily think we need a speed threat or vertical threat to run a solid offense. Either way, we would still have Hartline and Marshall that can both go down the field and both Marlon Moore and Roberto Wallace have good speed, so if one of them develops, that gives us another weapon down the field.

I don't see how it would be that expensive. We cut a lot of cap out this season, by getting rid of a lot of dead cap (Porter, Ginn, Wilson, etc...) and some overpaid players (Smiley, Torbor). I don't know the exact numbers, but I would assume that we would be able to afford Ronnie and Ingram. I do agree though that we should use Lex some more in the offense.

Mankins is good and I like him, but I don't want to bank off of FA. Mankins is going to be 29 next season, whereas if we can get a guy like John Moffitt in the 3rd-4th round, we can get youth and someone who can probably come in and start right away or at least soon.

I really don't think speed is a necessity for an offense. I think our run game needs to be established first, then our offense will open up on its own.

What's wrong with Hartline being our #2? He has been solid for the past two years and is showing more and more potential every time he steps on the field. I like where we are at with out top 3 receivers. Marshall, Hartline, and Bess is nasty.

There is no way Andrew Luck falls to us. That's what I don't really get. Look at the teams that are almost sure locks to be drafting ahead of Miami:

Bills, Bengals, Vikings, Titans, Broncos, Lions, Cardinals, Panthers, and 49ers. Just about all of them are either in need of a QB or may be in need of a QB by draft time (like the Bengals and 49ers- depends how Palmer/Troy Smith/Alex Smith pan out). Lions and Broncos are the only two teams I see there that I can say almost 100% sure won't draft a QB. So, how is someone like Andrew Luck or Ryan Mallett or Jake Locker fall to us? Even Nick Foles has a good chance at going top 10.

On top of that, I still don't see a point in wasting the money on another QB, when Henne has had a solid career so far (13-11 as a starter). I know it is early and many things can happen between now and the draft, but I could see 4 QBs going in the first 10 picks of next year's draft.

I don't see how Evan Royster is going to fall to the 7th round also. I see him as a late 3rd, to early 4th round pick. He has some NFL potential. Even though he is ranked around 10-13th out of all RBs in many people's lists, I think he will be the 5th or 6th RB taken.

I'm not sure I like that, tbh. We wouldn't fill any huge needs other than interior offensive line in the off season. I feel we would need a starting ILB, possibly a FS, and a starting RB (can't get one in the 5th+ rounds really).

I dont understand why alot of people seem to want David Lee as the new OC. Is it just because of the wildcat? I dont get it. And correct me if I'm wrong but didnt Lee's offense struggle in college?

I want an experience play caller who know's how to adjust his system to fit the players strengths. I want a guy who knows how to use a dynamic WR. I want a guy who knows how to gameplan well and doesnt make stupid playcalls over and over.

Other then that I like your list for the most part. Disagree with drafting two RB's but I think its a must to draft one within the first 3 rounds.

I was working under the assumption that we re-sign either Williams or Brown... Probably need to address the RB position prior to the 5th round.

I totally disagree that we are going to need to address FS position. Clemons and R Jones have shown me enough that I feel comfortable with either of them back there.

I too would like to replace Crowder but I think we can live with him there for another season especially with Edds coming back to be the cover down LB.

On the flip side, our OL has been a disaster and will continue to be one until we address it. The offenses woes start up front.

Get Michael Vick, Adrian Peterson, Nnmadi Asomugha, Pat Willis, Andre Johnson, and Troy Polamalu

I think if we can make that happen we would be serious contenders next season as long as they all find a way to get along.

Marshall is a short-intermediate receiver. That's why his career stats have a low ave per reception (12.2 career). One of the very reasons he wasn't drafted till the 4th round is b/c he lacks long speed. He's not a vertical threat. Hartline can get down the field occasionally, especially with coverage on Marshall, but he's not a "vertical threat" in the sense of the word. He doesn't scare DCs into making sure the safeties are worried about his presence downfield etc..... and some of Hartline's success can be thanked to Marshall for drawing the coverage. That's b/c Brian is a little more of an afterthought. Teams care more about Marshall, so by nature Hartline will have more opportunities. But we don't want Hartline having more opportunities; we want Marshall having more opportunities, which is why we pay him $47 million to be our playmaker. I wrote more on the speed further down. If Marshall is going to give "someone" more opportunities then it should be a player who can take some serious advantage of such opportunity---- a true playmaker who can score 8-10 TDs a year with 1000+ yards and an 18.0+ average.

Moore and Wallace have a "little" speed, but they're undrafted rookies. We don't have time to wait around and see if they develop. We need production now from that position b/c, like last Sunday, it's costing us games. Defenses arent scared of those guys and, as such, can combo cover Bess to keep him from beating them. There's no reason to "wait" around for a guy to develop when we can have production "now" if we actually address the problem. Kicking it under the carpet does nothing for this offense. Not to mention it does nothing for Henne's development. We should be doing everything we can to get him some weapons. Heck, we don't even have a #2 TE. Fasano looks great on paper b/c he has NOBODY to compete with or share stats with. If he were on NE, he'd rarely be seeing the field. We got him from Dallas b/c he was their #2 with 14 catches for 143 yards.

There is absolutely NOTHING acceptable about having only 4 pass catchers on an entire team when you include WRs & TEs. That's pretty freakin piss poor. Moore and Wallace don't count b/c they'd be on every other teams practice squad right now. Having 2 undrafted rookies as your #4 & #5 along with ZERO backup TE is horrendous.

You're right... it might not be that expensive, but we have too many needs on offense and possibly MLB to ditch 2 running backs just to replace them with 2 top draft picks that could be spent on needs that would provide a greater impact. Not to mention, 2 rookie running backs will have a lot of responsibility that they probably won't be ready or prepared for since there's more to it than just taking a handoff and running with it. lol.

I respectfully disagree. 29 is still young. He's at the top of his game and will be there for a few years. Guards can still be studs into their early to mid 30's. Makins is a virtual lock to sure up our line. Moffitt will be a rookie, and (as such) is far from a sure thing. He's still a gamble..... and it's unlikely that he'll contribute at a high level on the left side during his rookie year. We'll have to wait for production more than likely. We've saved money from cutting Smiley and Grove. That can go to Mankins instead. This line needs to be finished, and it needs to be finished 2 offseasons ago. We can't afford to wait. Mankins offers the most absolute possibility of solidifying it, and that would supersede all (not to mention we already inquired about him this season).

How will our offense truly open up when we'll still be playing in a 20 yard box at a time? We can run it all game long, but Marshall is a short-intermediate route receiver; Bess is mostly a short route receiver; Fasano is mostly a short route receiver; Hartline is an intermediate route receiver. You can bring in a stud RB like Ingram, but that won't force defenses to cover more of the field. It still allows them to play us 20 yards at a time.

Unless you get some speed, vertical threat, TE who can open it up, or another playmaker to draw coverage, then you can draft as many running backs as you want b/c there will always be guys around the box to keep them from really being honest IMO.

Look at Carolina. How are stud running backs Stewart and Williams doing? They have 759 yards, 4 YPC, and 3 TDs between them this year. Without a passing game or receiver to help take coverage from Steve Smith, these guys are shut down.... and w/o a legitimate #2 to take some of the coverage, Smith has only 39 catches, 498 yards, and 2 TDs (Smith has 2 rookies and Dante Rosario with him at WR). This is opposed to 2009 (where Smith still had Muhammad to help keep defenses honest) and Stewart and Williams ran for 2250 yards, a 5.2 ave, and 17 TDs. With Steve Smith and a slightly younger Muhammad in 08, Williams & Stewart had 2351 yards, 5.14 ave, and 28 TDs. In 2004 Carolina was ranked 28th in rushing, but that didn't stop Smith from catching 103 passes, 1500 yards, and 12 TDs. In 2006, they were 24th in rushing yet Smith still caught 1166 yards and 8 TDs. Their great RBs haven't helped them score more than 19 & 12 Pts/game the past 2 years.

In 2008 with Smith AND a non-retiring Muhammad together, the Panthers scored 26 pts/game (7th in NFL). The balance between everything helped keep defenses on their toes even though Delhomme only threw for 3288 yards, 15 TDs, 12 INTs, and an 84 rating..... but he did have a 7.9 AVE per pass (4th in the NFL) with 45 plays of 20+ (10th) and 9 plays of 40+ (10th). Defenses couldn't key on Smith b/c Muhammad also posed a threat (Smith caught 1421 yards with an 18.2 ave; Muhammad caught 923 for 14.2 ave). These guys attacked the entire field which forced defenses to be ready for it.... and as such Williams & Stewart had 2351 yards and 28 TDs. It allowed Carolina to pound-pass-pound-pass, whatever they liked for the most part..... but they had to show the capability of threatening the entire field for it to work IMO. They could basically tell defenses: "If you wanna stop the run, we'll beat you over the top; try and stop the big pass, and we'll run it down your throat". The Redskins did this extremely well in the 80s with Riggins & George Rogers at RB and Art Monk, Ricky Sanders, Gary Clark, and Charlie Brown at WR. Miami on the other hand can only say: "If you wanna stop the run, then we can dink and dunk it on you." That's not as effective. The Patriots are running the ball effectively right now with 2 undrafted running backs b/c they keep defenses honest while forcing them to defend every inch of the field.

What you're also not thinking about is: we have a great defense and the leagues best pass rusher. If we can open it up and score more points early on and quicker, we can put more pressure on opposing teams to play catch up. That bodes well for us with our defense and Wake. If we can get a solid quick lead, we can essentially turn Wake loose in more "obvious" passing situations similarly to how Indy and the Giants do with their pass rush studs.

Hartline as a #2 allows defenses to key in on trying to shut down Marshall, hence Brandon has half as many YAC yards as Bess, Hartline, and Fasano. Brandon should have more, not less. We pay him $47 million b/c he's an elite playmaker once the ball is in his hands. If coverage can be draped all over him so that he's typically tackled as soon as he catches the ball, then we're falling WELL short of maximizing his potential. He's not even Brandon Marshall on this team. He's a shadow of himself. If we're not going to allow him to do anything special, then we might as well have Camarillo back.

Hartline is a great young receiver and he'd be a huge asset in our offense...... as a Jack of all trades utility type receiver who can line up anywhere. He should be our #4 who can sub in for Bess in the slot which I feel is where Hartline's best position is at. He already knows the #2 position so he can sub in there as well when the #2 needs a breather or is injured. If Bess is ever injured then we're not s#!t outta luck in the slot. He also gives us a very talented 4 WR set for whenever we need to run one. He turns into a serious insurance policy should there ever be injury like what we're seeing this year. Jordy Nelson is used this way in Green Bay and it gives Rodgers 4 quality targets to throw to. It's not like he doesn't produce either; he still sees a lot of action (36 catches for 377 yards which has already surpassed his 09 totals).

Marshall, Hartline, and Bess would be "nasty" if they had another receiver to help open up the field. W/o any speed or another guy who scares defenses besides Brandon, they're not extremely scary at all compared to the rest of the league. Teams can combo cover Brandon, put their #1 on Hartline, and watch us play dink and dunk with Bess, a slow TE, and 2 slow running backs. That's not very scary. lol. If you want to REALLY see them scary, then bring in 2 guys (WR & TE) who draws some attention and forces defenses to cover every inch of the field (which we currently do not). Bess is quick and shifty, not fast; he has no top end speed. Marshall is the exact same way. Fasano is neither quick or top end speed. lol. Our running backs are also neither. These guys need help to do the things they do. That help is called "space". Without space, they can be eaten up pretty quickly. Our guys don't have the fortune of a DeSean Jackson or Mike Wallace who don't really need much help when it comes to blowing by and entire secondary.

Going with 2 RBs in our 1st 3 picks (according to your OP) are great in theory, but they do nothing to help create more space. They merely keep the attention focused in the 20 yard box that we're currently playing in IMO. Focusing on backs and ignoring help to open the field will only turn us into the Panthers who did the same thing in 2008 when they took Jonathan Stewart in the 1st round despite having DeAngelo Hall...... when they SHOULD'VE been more worried about replacing an old Muhsin Muhammad who helped balance out the secondary for Steve Smith. When Steve has some help, he's a major impact player. With less help, teams plan to take him out of the game as they've been doing.

We can land a back in FA, but whatever we do, we need to get in a WR/TE who can consistently threaten the field and scare defenses.

Way I look at it if we the team has 12 3-4 defenses to play next year (including twice for opponents) you have to game-plan for just that especially considering the playoffs. When is a 3-4 strongest? It tends to be when they have their OLBs on the field because they bring the primary pass rush. Few teams have great rushing ILBs. They rely mostly off of surprise although I admit a few are a bit better than this including the Jets duo. If that's the case, find a formation that takes at least the SOLB and if not the WOLB, then the TED off the field in favor of smaller DBs that we can gain a blocking advantage over. Another large WR like Marshall although necessarily as talented would do the job. Perhaps even Roberto Wallace could be the guy. At 6-4, 230 with the speed you want, if he can develop blocking skills against a 5-10, 190 lb dime back you have the makings of a power running spread (the Pats run out of this as do the Jets at times, but they use TEs traditionally covered by star safeties or large CBs). If you play WRs and they can run block, well that's just nasty as far as run stopping. Marshall can't be covered by a safety, he demands an extra CB on the field. You want a second guy that big and hopefully fast. He doesn't have to be nearly as good, just one tough SOB that can block with the best of them.

How about MIke Williams from Seattle? 6'5 235. On the cusp of breaking out year and will be a FA next year.

Does he run block well? He's just a bit slow too.

Malcolm Floyd perhaps?

Why would you want to resign Ronnie Brown and let go Ricky? Ronnie stinks and Ricky is outperforming him behind this mess of an o-line.

As for my off season wish list;

Sign Logan Mankins and Ahmad Bradshaw.
Draft Jake Locker(I've realized that Andrew Luck is impossible, he'll most likely go to the 49ers or Panthers)
Trade Brandon Marshall for a 2nd and a 3rd.
Draft Chris Marve, DJ Williams and Leonard Hankerson.

Why waste a high draft pick on a RB when the position is proving to be a short career spot and you can also get a quality RB in the later rounds. With the needs of team they have other needs like OL, LB and secondary that need to be addressed in the 1st thru 3rd round. At some point they will need to draft a QB if they don't bring in one as a FA to compete with Henne. Also since we have no idea what is going to happen with the FO & coaching staff who knows what the offensive philosophy will be. I'm going to assume that no matter what Henning is gone so there will be a change.

I think alternative 3 & 4 are most probably. If so the rest of my draft goes like this: TE from Free Agent market-Zach Miller OAK or Tony Scheffler-DTW
1. Trade down with SEA for # 18-20. SEA picks Locker.
2. Round 1-Pick Steve Wiesenski OC -Penn State (#18-20)
3. Round 2-Pick Jonathan Baldwin WR-Pitt (#45-#55)
4. Round 3-Pick Benjamin Ijalana-OG Villanova
5. Round 4-Pick Lee Ziambia-ORT-Auburn
6. Round 5-Pick Evan Royster-RB Penn State
7. Round 6-Pick Kirk Cousins or Kennen Moore QB-Mich. State or Boise State.
8. Round 7a-Pick Charlie Gatt-TE - Michigan State.
9. Round 7B-Pick Schukar Ordt TE - Northern Iowa.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is no way Andrew Luck falls to us.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't see how Evan Royster is going to fall to the 7th round also. I see him as a late 3rd, to early 4th round pick. He has some NFL potential. Even though he is ranked around 10-13th out of all RBs in many people's lists, I think he will be the 5th or 6th RB taken.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was not suggesting that Andrew Luck falls to us in the #11-#20 range. I am well aware of the QB needs for the other teams involved. However, I believe if Buffalo or Carolina own the top pick Luck does not come out. However, a team which is close in need of a top notch QB to get over the hump, He does declare. Therefore, I am suggesting we move up into the # one slot through a package trade. I'd include Brandon Marshall, Vernon Carey and Phillip Merling. First off Marshall, has demonstrated we over-spent in huge fashion. He'd demonstrated childish behavior and dropping his salary would go a big way towards funding a 1 pick. I'd seen the top QB's play a lot and Luck is the only one of that group I'd take in the first round.

As far as Royster goes, I agree he is more worthy of a higher pick. I've watched Royster a lot through the last (3) years and believe he is exactly the running back the dolphins. Good not great speed, the kind of grind it out RB who has quietly moved to the top of some very prestigious Rb's for Penn State. Based on that discussion and a change in status of Derrell Johnson Koulianos, I've moved Evan to round #5. Please note however, the reference for my earlier slot was Draft Tek a normally very reliable draft service who has Royster at #243. Barely in the draft at all. http://www.drafttek.com/PositionalRBF.asp

No offense but you realize that rookies are far from a given in the NFL right? lol. I greatly disagree with trading one of the best WRs in the game for 2 unproven rookies who might take 2-3 years to develop.

You wouldn't mind Locker holding a clipboard behind Henne for a few years?.... and possibly forever? We'll be on year 4. Rebuilding mode is over.

Only thing I'd add:

Owen Daniels as a FA

Shawne Merriman as a FA for competition at least, maybe more, he could take Q Moses's role and as a nickel passrusher..if he wins a spot.

Developmental NT

New Special Teams Coordinator, Darren Rizzi has stabilized the unit, but it is cemented into mediocrity.

New OC, do not know whom it may be, do think Henning is not the guy moving forwards

Imv the real improvement will arise from young players maturing not so much from catching lightning in a bottle with any single move.

Yes, I understand that. I guess we'll have to wait until draft day to see how everything pans out. Hopefully Locker falls and we could just trade down to get a 2nd round pick and still be able to draft Locker, who I'd want starting with Henne gone or as a back up.

I would like to trade Crowder tho for a 3rd or 4th. You think that's possible?

We're talking about next season so I don't know why you posted '10 numbers...Ronnie being a FA will cost us more to resign and I'm sure there is a bigger market for him, Ricky as a FA less (being a 1 or 2 year contract if he agrees)...meaning Ricky will more than likely be the cheaper of the two to keep for another year as a vet backup.

common sense really...
and for people who are considering holding off on drafting a RB early on, I think it's too risky...two studs in Ingram and Willams, I think we have to grab one or the other and get this running game back on track finally...until we have a successful running game again, it's not going to matter who we have at QB.

this is the funniest thing ive ever read i hope you were kidding.. especially the trading marshall part, while were at it lets trade jake long for a 1st and 3rd and get a 2nd and 4th for vontae and just might as well trade dansby for a 2nd and 3rd also... I think if we can do this we can start from scratch and have a buncha draft picks so we can draft busts in all rounds but the 1st, then we can look forward to the 2015 season :knucks:

That would be a pretty solid off season. Though, I am not sure about Devine. I don't see this front office even looking his way in the draft. He just wouldn't fit our system much. I do like me some Ryan Williams though. Him or Ingram in the first and I would be more than satisfied.

Also, I don't know about the NT in the 4th. When Odrick comes back next season, I am assuming Starks gets moved back to NT. If Starks isn't moved back to NT, we still have Soliai there who has been tremendous this season.

Even though before (a couple of days ago) I was sort of against the signing of Mankins because of age and that we could get a solid starter in the draft...I am starting to think twice. Mankins could almost single handedly fix our run game.

Marshall still has down the field ability and has proven that in the past. I'm not saying he is a Devery Henderson type player with all the speed in the world and lives going 20+ yards down the field every play, but he can easily stretch the field vertically. I understand why we would keep him underneath a lot, to get him more targets and looks though.

The thing with Wallace and Moore is, they are on the verge of developing. They've got their first season under their belt and they have the entire off season to work on becoming an NFL receiver. Plus, they would only need to develop into a number 5 receiver now. We won't be asking them to do an incredible amount next year. That is why I think one of them will develop. Btw, Moore and Wallace both have exceptional speed. I believe both ran sub 4.4s. Wallace has the skill set...but he just needs to work on some things, like his hands and route running.

How are you going to use Fasano and Dallas in your argument? It's not like he was backing up a scrub. Look at Martellus Bennett there right now. All the talent in the world, but not putting up huge numbers, because of Witten and all the other weapons around him. I could probably name 15+ teams that MartyB could start for right now even with his lack of success so far in the NFL.

It sounds like you want to develop into the Patriots or Colts or something, where they live with 4-5 WR sets and multiple TEs that can catch. We would be more than fine with 4 solid receivers (Marshall, Hartline, Bess, Jones) and a solid TE (Fasano). That is more than enough, when we are a balanced team that has a great run game as well. Plus, the fact that we have guys like Moore and Wallace who may end up developing. You never know. I just don't see the point in trying to get all these receiving weapons, when we won't really need it if we have a great running game and an already solid passing game.

We would pretty much be ditching one RB, because Lex Hilliard does nothing with our offense to begin with. We would ditch Ricky/Lex and keep Ronnie/Patrick. Then we would draft two RBs with all the potential in the world. That gives us at least 2 backs that can handle the load. Think about it...we would replace Ricky with someone like Ryan Williams or Mark Ingram (thats a positive). Then we would replace Hilliard with someone like Royster or Murray (thats another positive).

Yeah, I've changed my stance on Mankins lol. I would still like to get Moffitt though if we can get him in the 4th.

Because if we establish the same run game that we had 2007-2009, then teams will have to focus more on the run game, which will open up the passing game. Not to mention, we have a lot more weapons receiving wise than we did a couple of years ago (Hartline, Marshall, possibly James Jones, etc...)

Carolina has no passing game to begin with. You all may not like Henne, but hands down he is better than all of Carolina's QBs combined. When their biggest playmaker (Smith) has literally noone to throw him the ball, they can't do much. Not to mention, Smith is their only receiving threat. Who is their #2? David Gettis? Brandon Lafell? lol. They are just a complete mess. We at least have a solid foundation to work on.

I'm not sure how Hartline allows defenses to key in on Marshall. He brings just as much to the table as almost any other number 2 receiver in the NFL. He runs great routes, has solid hands, great vertical speed, good size, etc...He still had 43 rec for 615 yards and that was only through 12 games. He had a legitimate chance to get to 1000 yards this season.

That is too much of a waste, imo. Brandon Marshall did just fine in Denver with Eddie Royal opposite of him. There is no doubt in my mind that Hartline is better than Royal. Bringing in a true #2 receiver would probably take more looks and targets away from Marshall. That would give us 4 receivers that are good enough to start most places. Seems like it would be too much of a waste, when we can get James Jones and use him as our fourth and do just fine with that.

They don't need to create more space. We need to get our run game going and that starts with the interior of our offensive line and replacing our aging RBs with younger RBs that can start right away if need be. We all know that Ronnie and Ricky's days are numbered in Miami (especially Ricky) and we all witnessed one of the worst run games the Fins have had in a while. I wouldn't even be surprised if both Brown and Williams are gone after this season, though I am hoping Brown stays one extra season incase one of the RBs we draft takes a little bit longer to develop.

A run game would open up our pass game tremendously and when you have the weapons are pass game has, good things will happen.

I'm with Todd Phins, Brian Hartline needs to be on the bench somewhere, for all the reasons he stated. We don't need a guy who sees single coverage all game long and gives us 4 catches for 60 yds. We need a WR who will DOMINATE vs single coverage and force teams to play honest.

I don't think we'll have to break the bank b/c there is tremendous depth at the WR spot in FA as well as 3-4 1st round talents in the draft. Santonio Holmes, Sidney Rice, Vincent Jackson, Steve Smith, Jacoby Jones, Braylon Edwards, Mike Sims-Walker, Malcolm Floyd, Donald Driver, Steven Breaston, Randy Moss & more are all FA this year. Julio Jones, AJ Green, John Baldwin & Michael Floyd are all probable first rounders. If Ireland can't find us a better #2 in that group he should charged with criminal negligence and sued for gross incompetence.

I was disappointed to see Jamal Charles re-sign b/c the price for Deangelo Williams just went up. Luck for us, there is a half Deangelo Williams half Edgerrin James in the draft this year. Not Mark Ingram, this guy:

I'd gladly spend our #1 pick on this ^^^ guy. After a trade down if possible, but he's better than than the Ryan Matthews guy who went at #12 this year. My hope is that with the number of #1 caliber players at CB, DE, DT & QB that Williams falls to us late in the first.

I we can draft Ryan Williams, and sign James Jones & Brad Smith that would add some much needed speed, quickness and depth to our lineup without the back breaking cost of the elite WRs. Then we could use our remaining cap space on a fan favorite like Logan Mankins at LG, while also sticking it to the Pats. Or, by cutting Will Allen we could perhaps sign one of my personal favorites, Johnathan Joseph. Maybe we could do both. Either way, I think a lot of the folks who were against purging cap space this year will see why we did it soon. Jettisoning Grove, Smiley, Porter, Taylor, Ayodele, Ginn, Torbor, Wilson and hopefully Allen will give us a great deal of cap flexibility that we can use to make that elusive leap from average to very good and hopefully great.

BTW, was McFadden hurt when he played us? He's looked like a beast ever since. Good Lawd.

I don't get it when it comes to Hartline and Dolphin fans. There's some serious irony here. We (as a whole) don't seem to accept mediocrity at any other position except for the #2 WR position. Our Center is ok, but we want an upgrade. RB is ok, but we want an uprade. #2 WR is ok, but we LOVE him!! I dont freaking get it. He's a mediocre #2 who does NOT take full advantage of the luxury of playing opposite Marshall in single coverage much of the time. Our #2 should have 900 yards right now and 7-10 TDs. Hartline would be a #4 on half the teams in the NFL right now....... or at the most, he'd be many teams starting slot WR which is where he's best suited IMO. This is blowing my mind. If it weren't for the fact that Marshall and Bess are playing on the field with him he'd had far fewer opportunities. And if he actually had someone to challenge him for the #2 spot (rather than 2 undrafted rookies) he'd have even fewer opportunites than that.

By default, Hartline HAS to have some yardage production b/c there is absolutely NO ONE on our depth chart worthy of seeing the field to take snaps from him. If I had to guess, Hartline's #2 production on this team is probably BELOW AVERAGE for what a #2's capability is. Our #2, with Marshall and Bess on the field, should be having a FIELD DAY out there taking advantage of all the coverage opportunities Marshall & Bess provide him.

This simply is NOT acceptable...... and people can NOT simply judge his worth in this offense by the stats he puts up b/c this is one case where stats are HUGELY misleading.

For anyone disagreeing with me: how many big plays does Hartline have all year (not first downs or nice 18 yard pickups, but BIG PLAYS)? 2 or 3 is NOT ENOUGH. We're paying Marshall $47 million to be "THE MAN", however Hartline as our #2 opposite him is doing nothing to help Brandon achieve this title.

yes, because henne is throwing the ball to him, he has 3 season 100+ catches and probowls with jay cutler then comes to miami still the same man with more motivation because he knew what potential our team has right now and he slumps, theres something wrong there that clearly cant be his fault.

anyway... as for the rb situation, with j charles signed, i say we go for michael bush, hes an amazing young back.
