awesome.....I hope they lose out...it just isnt in the cards this year....I would rather have the better draft pick....my Super Bowl was last week...
Things aren't going to get any easier from here on out. Maybe we should change our strength and conditioning program.
Vernon Carey has been a good player in this league, however, he needs to take this time, look himself in the mirror and decide if hes truly going to physically take his craft to a level that he has the potential to achieve.. as many young guys as we can see, iam all good.
You have to consider parting ways with Vernon Carey if you are the Dolphins' front office. First his play hasn't lined up with the contract he got a couple of years back. Second you could probably get a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him in a trade. Third-the injury concerns are growing as this guy has battling knee issues for over two yeras now. I am not saying it's a must because I still think Carey is a top five right tackle in thie league. You just have to weigh your options
I thought he was playing like he was injured reserve for the last six weeks he was on the field. I don't know whether it was injuries or he is just losing it. He was playing badly most of the season and certainly isn't worth the money the Dolphins are paying him at this time. In fact, other than Jake Long. The entire offensive line needs to be replaced after this season.
so he has not lived up to his contract but someone is going to give us a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him? Don't see that happening, Carey is a Dolphin for life he is not going anywhere IMO.
Like to see what Jerry brings to the table after a season and some off season work BUT generally speaking I agree with you.
Carey hasn't been the same really the whole year. He has looked slow and overweight, even for an o-lineman.
This is what the patsies always do. They trade their talent for picks before the rest of the NFL can figure out they are on their downward turn. Even doing it a year or two earlier. That's why I wish we would have used Ronnie Brown early and traded him to someone like Green Bay before the trade deadline. It keeps us ahead of the draft game the way the patsies always are. If there are not alot of good draft picks that year, they tade picksfor the next year. He def has been playing poorly lately.
could happen, this game this week is the easist left....and it is at home where they cant win.... whatever....yeah because I would rather see this underachieveing team, who has lost every tie breaker imaginable, who is limping to the finish line, back door (cuz thats what would have to happen) into the playoffs, only to play at Balt and get smoked by them again, so dumb *** can Ross will say, "Eh nothing needs to happen" and keeps Henning....then on top of that have a pick in the 20's, as opposed to a early teen's one...just saying it how it is....truth hurts, and it sucks, actually it is whats best for them right now...
Losing is best? gotta laugh at that one bro Won't call you names or nothing stupid. No fighting words. Just find it funny because i can't ever think that way.
It's ok man. I see things like that written and I just reply. Nothing personal meant. Just saying how i feel as you are...
We have a very small chance of making the playoffs, so I like the move to shut down Vernon Carey for the season. He obviously had some injury issues. Dude needs to get on a cardio training program and lose some weight, he looks like a slob now. He better shape up or he may be gone next year either by trade or outright cutting him if he shows up worse than he did this year. I like him and think he could get back to his semi-elite status and play if he wants to. I hope he does hit the weights and trains hard this offseason, we really need him.
I don't see Vernon being athletic enough at this point to even play guard. Could you imagine him trying to pull. They would have to stop and wait on his fat ***.
I'm really interested in your thought process for this comment. What on earth has Ross done for you to label him a dumb *** and on what planet does the owner tell the HC who his OC will be?
Lydon Murtha is gonna push that sucker all the way to the Superboooowwwwllll In all seriousness though, this is the second year in a row theres been extensive injuries to the line. Unfortunately, there's no Berger or Garner to step up at this point. With Long hurting, I don't know how theyre going to keep going.
We don't have much behind Vernon. But, Carey has been way overpaid. I know there are some who think he's a great RT but he gets beat so many times and he is perennially out of shape. He has a very limited physical work ethic as DJ noted and the result is he is both overweight and plays a very soft game. No player is intimidated by him and if we want a really physical OL - he is not the player to be at RT. I suspect he plays in the 350 range. At 6'4, if he had the physical discipline of a Jake Long, he could come in at 320, with a truly reshaped body, physically tougher and quicker. But, he doesn't because he doesn't have that. While I think he is mediocre b/c of his great inconsistency and unreliability on any given pass play, what irks me the most is the poverty of his work ethic - esp. after the big contract. A contract like that should motivate a player to be dominant and in great physical shape. One look at his gut is all it should take to see his flawed work ethic; another look at him standing still while players run by seals the deal.
Actually I think he'd be just fine as a Gaurd. Better even... Jamie Nails fat ***, and man, that dude had a gut, but he could pull with the best of them. Carey is more athletic
Or maybe we should remove the McDonalds franchise that he totes around his waist. Someone has to hold him accountable and it's not the strength and conditioning coach.
