Just over 2 minutes to go in the game. Dolphins have the ball on the Bills 31 yard line. Dolphins are down by 3 points. 2nd and 10. Henne is on fire. Marshall is on fire. Henning calls the WC, game over. Henning is old, senile, and washed-up.
The clock management and use of time outs has got to be the worst I have ever seen. I don't think I have seen this team run an efficient 2 minute offense in 2+ years.
This games was the nail in Sparanos coaching career in Miami seriously. If Ross keeps him after this year I will be UBER surprised. He's lost control of the team, his QB is horribly inconsistent, his Ocoordinator has cost us at least 3 games with stupid playcalling. The Only bright side is the fact the Nolan is doing a good defensive job and has held the opposing teams in winnable situations in his first year. I want Bill Cowhen and Mike Nolan to be the only remaining staff tomorrow.
Hell I can understand making a safe call when you only need 3 points to tie. But how about a screen or a draw? You KNOW Buffalo isn't trying to allow a TD and lose so getting soft coverage on a pass play/look was probable. Instead the OC decides to tell the world exactly what we're going to do, running play. No threat of a pass, despite Henne having a hot hand as you pointed out. It's mind boggling how he, or anyone else would think that's a good idea. I'm pissed at Sparano for not stepping in to veto that bullsh^t *** call. That's what you have a HC for.
actually its the right call. one of those three had to be a run play. normally you get agressive on 1st, try to get to the 26 or 27 with a run on 2nd (whatever makes it a FG attempt of 45 yds or less since the success inside the 45 on FGS is much higher than over 45) and then get aggressive and try to move the chains on 3rd. Add in the fact we scored a TD with a wildcat and the weakness of the BILLS defense is the run and you had to have at least one run play
At that point in the game, and after it was clear Carpenter was off today, you need at least 10 more yards. How many times this season has the WC gained 10 yards? Henning has already been quoted as saying he plays for the par. Well, he played for the LONG FG and a tie. That's par.
Look no farther than the first drive for proof. 48 yard field goal into the wind on 4th and 2. Grow a pair early and go for it.
Nope. Henning is a ****** and makes sure that no one playing can get into a rhythm. If he was going to play the run game today he should have stuck with running the ball. There is no excuse whatsoever to allow Henne and Marshall to get into a rhythm and then pull them when you need 10 more yards (for Henning's par). Henne and Marshall, at that point in the game, were not going to be denied. Talk all you want about the one great WC run by Ronnie that was more the Bills missing their gaps than anything Ronnie did. The Bills stopped the run early and Henning went away from it, even though the Bills are near last in the league against the run. If Henning had stuck to the running game and allowed Ricky and Ronnie to get into a rhythm, then went for a 10-15 yard pass at that point, I'd be saying the same thing.
Exactly. Speaking of that drive. Did you see the trip on Ricky that went uncalled and would have kept the drive alive?
Sparano, Henning & Henne should go away like a bad dream let this be the last season for the three of them, we need to move on
Prez, I like you as a poster on these boards, I really honestly do. But I might have to put you on ignore. You're continued defense of an offensive coordinator that obviously has zero business coaching in this league at this stage of his career has gone from controversial to sad to just completely absurd. You don't pull a QB off the field in that situation. You just don't. You want to argue for a running play, fine, but you don't pull the QB off the field.
Um yeah, never mind the first half of suck, or most of the 3rd qtr suck, blame the WC call. Come on Step Bro, the offense was crap on a paper plate and has been for the last 3 weeks. Thanks Chad, when the boos once again are louder than the cheers, again, what is up?
Comes a point where you just gotta admit you were wrong and jump on the lifeboat bro. That going down with the ship stuff went out of style with the Titanic.
What does the 1st 3/4's of them sucking have to do with them getting away from were they suddenly found success?
Yet we were in a position to win the game late and Henning puts the best chance on the sideline because he wanted to tie the game.
The same thing the offense not being able to move the ball 10yds or so to make DC's job more possible.
I will blame the WC call. And I will blame Henning more so than I blame anyone else on this offense. I've never said that Henne doesn't have bad throws, decisions, or games. However, he's had 25 NFL starts now. Henne played well enough today that with the right play calling they would have won. OTOH, Henning has been around the NFL coaching in one way or another since 1972 and he has NO clue as how to coach or call a game with a young, inexperienced QB. Henning needs to go. Period...
And if my grandmother had a jimmy she would have been my grand father..shoulda coulda woulda That pos Henne has killed two seasons off, dead as Nixon, with his crappy play, when they pulled him in favor of the WC and Ronnie B scored a TD, where were the questions?
So the O is NOW moving the ball and the OC goes to the WC which has done **** all year. What does this have to do with the 1st 3/4's of the game? The OP didn't question if the O sucked on the nip for most of the game he's asking why get away from whats working.
I never mentioned any "coulda's or woulda's" so I have no idea what the first part of your post means. Henne has played no worse than say... Sanchez. I think the Jests made it to the AFCCG last year and I bet they make the playoffs again this year. (I hope not though). Why do you think that is?
If one bothers to look, Sanchez was supra hot in the playoffs, he really did step up. Henne Monkey..not so much. Kinda peeved right now, heard all of the positive stuff about Henne, and now he is just crap, the fans were smarter than we are, they did not waste their time attending yet another Henne crappy performance at home. Why bother to drop 250 bucks to watch that?
No offense, but you're one of the worst posters I've ever had the displeasure of trying to discuss football with. Well, perhaps that's a bit harsh, let me rephrase that. You;re one of the worst posters I've ever had the displeasure of trying to discuss offensive playcalling with. A formation that hasn't worked all year, when the QB is playing as good as he ever has, in a situation where you need chunk yards, is a good call? What a joke of a post. Want to run, run it the right way, not a laughable formation that doesn't work anymore. Even then a regular run would of been a joke as we can't run the ball, and we need chunk yards. Keep defending Henning if you must, it's obvious to anyone else the guy doesn't have a clue, as if his track record of bad offenses and losing teams in his 32 year career didn't prove that already.
