2011: So what what do we have offensively?

You would take Ingram with say pick 15?

I think value to pick it isn't there. I like Ingram but not as high as that , and I question how he will hold up and perform at the next level. I mean , if he was picked so high.

Easier to get that needed RB later in the draft , and if we need a QB , that may indeed take our #1 ( and even more ).

Sorry , didn't you say he would be wearing a raider jersey next year?

Presume you meant the raiders would pick him by that comment , and since they don't have a selection in the first round , I take it as you think he won't be picked till at least the 2nd.... no?

I think BOTH Bama Backs will be special.....if he is there..WE MUST take him. A difference maker can something so subtle as the guy that can break one tackle and score from 40 yards out. THAT is Ingram.

We disagree about Newton's future , people forget , VY wins , and his main issue is his attitude , work ethic , and commitment. Newton is better than VY was coming out imo and has a much much better attitude and football matters to him , people close to the Auburn program have said some very positive things about how good a teamate he is and how hard he works.

Agree with your comment on difference makers , just not sure Ingram's value is that high. See a lot of backs that are doing that and been selected much lower.

We need playmakers , totally agree with that though.

Well, sunny point #2, it would make sense for Irish to try and recoupe that #2 pick this draft that went for Marshall, so not even a high pick may be available to land some elite talent.

we only have 6 picks anyway, to me, we had best hope some UDFA's or CFLers amaze us or the talent gap will grow v the Patriots.

Trade Odrick and our 1st to move up for AJ Green. :shifty:

Trade next year's 1st for Kyle Rudolph.

    Mankins & Bradshaw in FA.

    Move Lex to FB.

    3rd round: future RT.

    4th round: WR Greg Little.

    That'll wake up DCs.

Ingram has a grand total of 3 runs for more than 40 yards this year in over 140 carries... Not sure how that is going to translate into a game breaker in the NFL

First round QB, it's about time we took the premium talent. So tired of endlessly wasting our second rounders on second raters.

personally I wouldn't mind seeing the Fins trade down much like they did last year. They can pick Mike Pouncey or Marcus Cannon and will also have a shot at Joseph Barksdale or Darius Morris. That would go a long ways towards address with OL problems.

We need another WR, a fast one. We need a fast starting running back. Ricky can back him up, because Ronnie can start on a team like the Saints/Colts and deserves to. 2nd Tight End we'll need, though remember Haynos got hurt. Middle of the O-Line needs help between Long and Carey. We really should only keep Long, Carey and John Jerry. Oh, and QB.

We have multiple needs, some are different for some people. Personally, I still like Henne and would love to see what he is capable of with a different offensive coordinator. With that said, finding out what he is and/or getting another young, potential "franchise" quarterback is and should be the #1 priority, everything else is simply scenery for me. IF we have the chance to draft one or move up to draft one I'd pull the trigger in a second (but not for Locker or Newton).

I think the #2 is FINALLY and MERCIFULLY fixing the middle of the ****ing offensive line. Jake is All World, Vern Carey is still a good player but other than that? I think our 3rd best offensive lineman is sitting on IR (Nate Garner). He's in the fix without a doubt. You have to think he'll be starting somewhere. Can Jerry develop? I think we need a center (Berger is a depth guy in my opinion, a good depth guy because of his position flexibility). We are a barren wasteland in the interior. No matter who we have at the skill positions we are screwed until we fix it.

I think #3 is speed...GAMEBREAKING speed. We have no one that scares the hell out of our opponents. This can/should be at the running back and wide receiver positions. This will address two areas at once.

#4 is two running backs. One has to be a game breaker and the other has to be a workhorse. "Thunder and Lightning" if you like. Any way you want to discuss it the position must be fixed. I like Ronnie Brown but I think he's had it. He's too tentative. Ricky is old.

#5 is a pass catching tight end. Get our young QB/Henne a ****ing outlet, someone who can take advantage of the middle of the field.

This of course is all prefaced by the fact that Dan Henning will be "retired" at the end of the year. IF that does not happen I won't care if any of these needs are addressed because I won't be watching this damn team.

Ok....that is a lie but still, you get the idea.

I cannot agree with this more. I still want to see what Henne can do with a different offense and OC. But first and foremost we NEED to fix the putrid running game. That means both RB's and offensive lineman.

Well after watching our offense this year he better change his tune. I'm not really against firing Sparano because I do believe he is a good coach who's still learning, but if we can get Cowher it's going to be awfully hard to keep Sparano and rightfully so. You know Ross is the kind of guy who would do anything for a Bill Cowher.

Yeah, rookie free agents. It's time to draft big play speedsters early in the draft.

I wouldn't mind that, however if he just wanted big tough guys, the rookie free agents would also be big and tough

I agree that our offensive needs far outweigh anything else save maybe the FO/Coaching staff. With only 6 picks and several needs my prioritys would be, draft wise, O-line first and then speed reciever, RB, and TE in whatever order the value is there to choose from.

Several notes to consider 1) with no CBA what effect will it have on Jrs coming out early 2) with possibly increased rosters caused by an 18 game season, will we have increased picks 3) And most importantly will Ross blow up the Football side due in no small part our terrible Home Game display?

If I'm a Jr who must declare in Jan. with no idea of what I'm getting myself into I would NOT leave school at this time. I'm speaking directly to our need for a QB, which in such case it might be best to wait until 2012 to get our franchise QB jmho.

Also as far as RB goes good ones are picked thruout the draft so I would defer to picking the o-line first and look for a back in the later rounds. I would also resign RB after letting him test the market if he's not to demanding. I feel he would like to stay and though he may not be the same as in 05 he is better than good enough to save from the junk pile imho.

Would I trade my defensive jewels to regain a pick or two, in a word, NO! One extra pick (unless we are talkiing about moving to the #1 spot to pick Luck as our starting QB) will not make that much difference in a Blow Up year imho.

And finally Yes, if I'm Ross I blow up the offensive offense side to include Ireland if the New HC wants to go a different route player wise.

Perhaps acquire Orton and sign Gruden to be the HC with Nolan his DC? Gruden's made QBs similar to Orton such as Brian Griese and Brad Johnson very successful in the past without incredible personnel around him. I think Orton is accurate enough, smart enough, and efficient. He can run that WCO Gruden employs perhaps with along with a late round prospect to push him and say Shaun Hill as the #2 option.

You have to give credit to the coaching staff. If we send Henne up there on loan for a couple of years he could end up being the next Marino. They just develop offense guys well up in Green Bay. Specifically at the QB position. Also you forgot Mark Brunell.
