If only I remembered the place I read the Sparano interview where he told the reporter what a "wonderfully supportive wife" he had ...

Or I could ask you here and you just send the darn PM already. Might make for an interesting behind closed doors debate :)

You know Bernie Miedoff the guy who mislead a ton of investors and stole billions? Well Tuna is the NFL version preys on broken franchises and desperate fanbases. Delivers mediocrity and runs off with millions he didn't earn! I give you Tuna Miedoff the biggest scam in NFL history!

Or I’ll save us both the trouble and say that I’m not in favor of any retreads or coaches whose teams historically were good one year and bad the next. If we’re going to make a change, Jim Harbaugh or bust.

Not sure the fans would give him 13 years to win a SB in Miami like he had with the Steelers. Also, not sure how he would do with personnel decisions as those were made by the GM which has always been a strength of Pitt's. Look no further than Tomlin. But agree Cowher must be a good coach based on winning with Jeff Hostettler (sp?) at QB. Although he didn't get a SB until Ben came along.

Just goes to show you rarely can't win without a QB, running game and good surrounding cast. See Belicheck, Cowher, Dungy, Coughlin, Payton, Shannahan, Landry, Walsh, Gibbs, etc.

I would be interested in Harbaugh but only if we strike out on Cowher and then Gruden.

yeah. i dont expect an instant conversation. kind of a jerk question to ask tony, imo. regardless of how well a coach he is, he seems like a really good guy and deserves a little better than that

This is not personal, which I too think Sparano is a good guy, but this is business. Must learn to separate the two. People in cut-throat business have to learn that and the NFL is about as cut-throat as it gets.

Oh, Bernie Madoff. I don't see the resemblance.

Parcells reminds me of a guy that takes pleasure in resurrecting a team (or company) that is down in the dumps, turns them around and then gets restless because he likes the rebuilding aspect and huge challenge. Not many are willing to try. The next coach will have a much better chance than the current regime because Parcells helped laid the groundwork. The next coach will have a base to build on and not the crap we were left from Wannstadt, Saban and Meuller's terrible personnel decisions. They may only need to replace about 20 scrubs and not 46 out of 53. I have no problem with the job of Parcells. Maybe the timing of his leaving but he definately left us in much better shape than what he started with.

i agree. but i dont think the guy has to be hassled about his future and whether he talked to the owner about it on freaking monday. i would also hope that ross isnt the kind of owner that would call these types of meetings before the season is over

now, with saban, it was different. he was fair game

Ross is not a patient man
I believe the decision was made with our defeat against the Bills
Ross has got dreams for this franchise & a big monetary investment
don't look for patience from a man who is on his way to the Superbowl
Parcells held it together, without him there is no reason to continue the dysfunction
Nolan (possibly Ireland) will stick Ross will rift the coaching ranks
    & Henne along with them

I still think that you could minimize much of what Sparano's problems are if you had the right guy as his coordinator. Cowher after he won the SB wasn't the same coach and sometimes you need that hunger to win again. I think with Sparano the problem you have is clock management and his preference to be conservative but perhaps that won't always be the case with a veteran QB he trusts. They took risks in 2008 and weren't afraid to do it. They did it in 2009 and they weren't afraid to do it. In 2010 though I think the Henne/Henning affair just destroyed them.

I think he should get one more year. I just don't think Cowher is all that different as a coach then Sparano. Neither is an Xs and Os guy. Both coach off of discipline, motivation, and intensity. One is hungrier than the other to win. Neither one can do it by himself. Solid quarterbacking has this team at least two wins better. They keep on adding talent. They're headed in the right direction and I think a big problem is that that 11-5 year has people thinking it's a sinking ship. It's not. The 2008 team (based on the way they played top competition that year) would probably have been at best 7-9, 8-8 this year and it was a veteran team with very young players filling in a few cracks. This one is extremely young all around and even at say 8-8 they're inching towards improvement on a tougher schedule. One more year that's it, but continue the progress. It's still headed the right way.

Smoke and mirrors! Look at every franchise Parcells went to or tried to go to since the Giants told him he will coach and that is it.

    1. The Falcons after winning his 1st Superbowl in NY. Only to have the commish make him be a man and honor his contract with the Giants!
    2. The Patriots pathetic franchise with a desperate fan base!
    3. The Jets even more pathetic franchise with a desperate, misserable, less then human fan base!
    4. The Cowboys a once proud franchise with a owner driven for a new stadium and a desperate fan base!
    5. The Dolphins desperate owner and fanbase.

One thing they all have incommon is Parcells left them high and dry before it became obvious his way/plan failed! His 3 drafts here are failures and have the players he brought in only see the field because we lack real talent! Not to mention have ZERO depth!

Enough excuses! The guy makes the same mistakes now he made in year 1! There is no sign of greatness with Morano just mediocrity! He is completely lost as a HC and the only reason he even got the gig is his buddy Tuna needed a puppet! This conservative mentality is his model, the lack of half time adjustments fall on him, and our pathetic oline is his area of expertise!

His 3 drafts here are failures? What are you talking about? Aside from quarterback Miami has one of the most talented teams in the league. The only draft you can judge is the 2008 one:

    - Long, best LT in the game
    - Merling, seems to be back giving at least depth but a letdown
    - Langford, starter
    - Bess, Carpenter as UDFAs although Bess was more him than Ireland

That's the only draft you can judge. Average age of the team is very young. They missed on Henne no doubt but if you fix that quarterback position this team will make the playoffs no question, no doubt, not even close. They must get a quarterback and fix the interior OL but they're in far better shape going into this off-season then any year with Wannstedt, Saban, or Cameron. They're young, they're willing to get the best guys and they recognize problems and they take care of them. Player underperforms, they're gone. Coordinator underperforms he's gone.

Call it excuses then. Do the same thing Miami's done every time, go for the big name, disregard everything you see without the stupid mob mentality of this board. Mediocre? Since when do they accept mediocre? When has that ever been the case? They're failing, they're not settling but that's the reality of the NFL. Give me a top option to hire that actually brings an Xs and Os background in the NFL and that's something different.

Jon Gruden is the only guy I can think of that might.

I don't know how you can say we're one of the most talented teams in the league.

On offense, we have two bona fide stars (Long and Marshall) and a few "good" players (Bess, Ricky/ronnie, Carey, Polite, Fasano). Everybody else is a below average NFL starter. I cannot think of another team Hartline would be a starter on. Berger/McQuistan/Incognito are average or below average, and the fact that John Jerry, a third round pick, can't securely beat out these guys is disturbing.

Even on defense, we have one pass rusher and our DB's can't catch a cold.

We're better than we were in 2007 but we are not in great shape. And you say "outside of QB" like it's an easy problem to solve.

Ok first I don't care what anyone says you don't rebuild at franchise by drafting a LT number 1 overall! Atlanta thanks us for Matt Ryan.and still got Ryan Baker in the 2nd round!

Merling is a thug and well ends in the 3-4 aren't exactly a huge need. Langford well thank god we got another 3-4 end! Hey we need another so let's waste a first round pick on a 3-4 end with a preexisting medical condition. You know the type that has over a 60% chance to stress fracture along the plate? Hmmmm more broken bones then tackles! Then we have White, Smith and Turner. I don't even want to hear a word about Smith he is trash! Do you know what the statistical odds are of dropping 6 interceptions in 1 game? He is constantly beat and out of position! Not to mention can't keep up with any inside move! Look at Buffalos last TD he knocked it right into the guys hands! Oh by the way V. Davis should have been Hakim Nicks, but god forbid they actually acquire a WR with speed and talent! Thy tack one or the other!

All the other players that people over hype like Carroll, Jones, Ness, Clemons etc see the field because we lack real talent and dont even get me started on the free agent bust!

I really feel for Sparano, he is a hell of a leader of men but like Dave Wannstedt he's in over his head. He doesn't know how to make adjustments when things change. He was spoiled with Chad Pennington under center his first season. After almost two years he has had no idea how to adjust to having a QB with a different skill set. I have little reason to believe, like many others here, that he will have the ability to develop a new QB should we pick one up. We have to get a new coach and then worry about whether Henne is good enough or not later.

Long, Bess, Hartline, Marshall, Carpenter, Davis, Wake, Dansby, Misi, Soliai, Langford, Starks??? Just named at least half the team that he had a hand in bringing in that I respectfully disagree and believe have REAL talent. Cowher wants to come because he would have a nice base to work with and a 9-7 team with upside.

Soliai was Mueller! Out of the rest of them Long, Marshall and Dansby are stars. Bess, Hartline are average, same with Langford and Starks. Misi is a rookie who has been average and before we get carried away had a good game against Buffalos very bad line! Oh and we aren't 9-7!

I would never compare the two because we only have two seasons to go by with Sparano and don't believe he has the same creativity but the same was said about Belicheck when he was at Cleveland. He goes to NE and gets a gift in the 6/7th round named Brady and in 3 years he pulls Bledsoe and instantly is a genius. Now I think he definately is a great coach but fully believe a without Brady he is gone by now.

Yep! Three years, Super Bowl or fired in disgrace. That's why I call the Dolphins a banana republic - there's a coup about every three years. Get a new "El Presidente" that everyone falls over, halfway through the peasants are still famished and get restless and finally, "Viva La Revolución!" Then repeat.

PS Marco your kidding right 3 years of improvement isnt the same as three years of regressing (which we are!). This team is FURTHER away than 3 years ago. I would fire him as well.

There have been rumors that Parcells is interested in running another team. Perhaps he will hire Sparano to coach that team. My only hope is that Parcells is not as down on Henne as reported. This way Parcells can hire Sparano as the head coach and trade a 7th round draft choice to the Dolphins for Henne. Because a seventh round choice is about all Henne is worth on the open market. I have no doubt that the player picked in the seventh round would be more productive than Henne has been this year.
