This may surprise some. I believe that replacing Sparano should be considered. My reasons are not Henning, ST's, or cheering for FG's. He did not have the team ready to play vs Cleve or Buff, two bad teams, and we had something to play for, they did not. Add in time/game management, which has been an ongoing problem, and still is.

Mort has reported tha Cowher wants to coach. He wants Giants, Phins, and Texans, in that order. He would be an upgrade, IF available. My jury is still out on Gruden, who would jump at the chance. I would love to keep Nolan as DC or AHC but, in no way as a HC. Other than that, Tony is my choice. Chances are he keeps Nolan for a year, and picks Nolan's equivalent on O.

How many here believe Sparano was picking Pasq, Henning, and other coaches? Knowing Tuna, I sure as hell do not.

As to Henning. he is history. The time to pick who replaces him is for the off season. I have no idea who will be available because of the CBA delema.

Cohwer at the top of the list. But I would still take Chucky's facial expressions over Sparano's fist-pumping.

You're right, the letdowns of the Cleveland game and the Buffalo game both point to a problem with coaching. And once again we have to hear Tony Sparano blather on about a "great week of practice". Something is going wrong and usually a lack of consistency stems from poor coaching.

Facial expressions over fist-pupming should always be considered. Are you thinking that some of our celebs should be considered for the HC? They all are GREAT in facial expressions, as well as fist pumping.

Great idea. Sly & The Family Stone are still available. Can they take us "HIGHER?"

Maybe... Gruden's offense sucks though. Go with Cowher if need-be, closer fit. Sparano was a good coach though, this season he has been too passive though.

Our defense was old, slow, poorly coached and ineffective last year. We prioritized fixing the unit and one year later it's young, fast, and playing well week in and week out. This offseason, its the offense's turn. We've got a serious talent problem at TE, an age/quickness problem at RB, the slowest WRs on earth, and an overall lack of playmaking ability. We've also gotta OC that should have his *** on the Miccosukee reserve playing bingo, not in a coaches box calling plays. I know that these problems are not a secret, the brass knows what's going on, I think they'll fix it. If they don't then yeah, we'll have the same problem next year.

that's b/c we wanted to have them young, fast, and playing well. It seems like this regime wants our offense to be slow, boring, and not making plays. lol.

Hopefully a new coach & OC can get in here soon enough to help evaluate everything (and have enough time evaluating the draft based on our needs) so that we can get the players in that we need to blow the top off this puppy.

Look, I love Sparano's fire in the belly attitude on the sidelines and in the locker room. But, you cannot overlook the blatant clock/TO mismanagement. The playing not to lose approach every time we near the redzone (FG anyone?). And, now he's gonna defend this senile ol' OC to the bitter end? And, to what end is his involvement on play calling to this point anyway? Hmmm? What input has Sparano had up til now? If any, I'd say he's as culpable as Henning. If none, which is actually a worse scenario IMO, then he's been an absentee HC.

Sorry, I don't like playing the coach carousel any more than anyone else. But, if it ain't workin', you at least gotta consider other options. And, it would be one thing to just lose. But, in the fashion we lost yesterday, with the most pathetic offensive performance I think I've ever witnessed from any Dolphin's team...sorry, but that's on Sparano IMHO.

    Check please...

Although I question you're calling any Phanatic a buffoon, it is a great thing to have the "self-proclaimed" Ruler of the Universe rendering his opinion. I'm sure you can enlighten me with the playoff teams who have done that.

If not, I believe you should keep your name calling to a different planet. As a resident of this planet, your post was uncalled for, and BS.

Just an opinion from Planet Earth, as well as Dolphans.

Padre, I've been preaching youth all year long, and with very good reason. The Brownie and Buff games, I cannot attribute those losses to youth. If anything, they should have been primed to prove something. Have to disagree here.

Eh, I did vote that Sparano should be fired (my caveat is if he retains Henning and does not bring in serious competition for Henne) however with young talented players there is no magic formula for when they play like seasoned pros.

For example SS24 dropped another Int, Nolan Carroll caught his after dropping a pick six in the Browns game.

Next yr if Carroll makes that play, we win that game

ALOT of people had genuine concern about the quarterback position entering this season. As it turns out, it was for good reason. A few of the same people questioned the long term health of Chad Pennington's arm. That was for good reason too. The problems this season were on the offensive side of the ball and on special teams. We have suffered through the youth movement of both.

You can't discount the QB position when you consider the youth of this team. There is alot we could have survived. Poor quarterback play is something that cannot be survived in the NFL. Every other position in the offense we could plug in a year. Rare is the franchise QB that hits free agency. We grabbed the best one available in 2008. In 2010, it was time to turn it over to the kid. We did that. He played poor. The veteran got injured. It's back to the youth.

I was never one to follow politics or voting, regardless the forum.

I look at a tipped int vs the Browns, a bad call vs Pitt, and a missed fg by Money vs Buff. Two of those three should not have come to pointing out survivor plays but, they did.

In spite of all the problems, we "could well have 10 wins. That's parity, not our O, or ST's playing well.

    However, we are that close.

This is a pointless comment but, woth mentioning. IMO, IF R&R would have been close to what we believed, we are a different team. Yet, few comment on their very bad play.

Every team has woulda, coulda, shoulda games in the NFL. We have a few plays, not games. We are very close, even with Henne or, maybe because of him. Next year will tell our tale.

I think I can speak for more than a few:

Ricky is worth his contract and that's about it. I could care less if I ever see Ronnie Brown in a Dolphins uniform again. I think most are just so "done with the latter that it's not even worth mentioning.

When it's shown that changing coaches can't improve a team. Since other teams have shown marked improvement after changing coaching staffs, we know that isn't so.

Seriously? It was 4th down. We needed a TD. The play call sent 3 receivers into the pattern vs an 8 man coverage. NOBODY was open but the ball had to come out. Blame the QB if you want, but you'd be somewhere between naive and ignorant to do so. Par for the course on this forum though, so more power to ya...

Yep, seriously, it is what happened, that was a close game we lost and had a chance to win.

Was Henne to blame? Did anyone say he was to blame?

Much of the original mystique that surrounded Sparano was garnered from the impressive 08 season, a year he earned leaguewide recognition for a team that took great strides in reaching 11-5.
I've continued to look for common similiarities with todays team, but they're polar opposites. As the names have changed on both roster and staff, no change stands out as predominant as the one that occurred after the 08 season, and the start of 09.

I believe now that Parcells was far more involved behind the scenes in 08 than we were led to believe, and as a result the players were thoroughly prepared from week to week, provided with an unpredictable game plan, each custom tailored to the opposition, halftime adjustment were often made, and executed too well to have been prescribed from anyone but the experienced Tuna himself.

I'm convinced Sparano learned the ropes while playing the part in 08, took over entirely in 09, and we've never been the same since.
