He is DUE for a large contract anyway... but the more league wide recognition he receives (by making the Pro Bowl), the more we are going to have to pay him if we keep waiting to extend the man. He's grossly underpaid right now. He has two years left on his contract. The only reason I can see as to why we've waited to sign him to a new deal is the uncertainty surrounding the 2011 season.... will the CAP be back? That certainly affects LARGE contracts. But I would still sign him as soon as possible!!! If the CAP does come back, signing him at a lower $ amount will open up room to go after other players... that's my logic here in saying I hope he doesn't make the Pro Bowl this year (unless we already have him signed of course). And side note... my next jersey will be a C.WAKE #91 jersey!!
I would never root against a guy just so some rich a$$holes can save money. Heck...that's a reason to root for any player; but we're talking about the NFL sack leader and a Dolphin to boot. He's kicked butt this year and deserves everything that comes from his great work ethic....including the Pro Bowl. That's like the insurance commercial where they give the girl a new bicycle but tell her she can't ride it outside of the two foot box outline on the floor. Do you really hope that our organization would disrespect one of our young stars like that?
Interesting thing P13, the Dolphins Team Store does NOT keep Wake jerseys in stock, there was not enough interest for another order to be placed.
I HATE this line of thinking. The man deserves to get paid. Period. Yes, if there is a cap, he might eat up a lot of money, but guess what.....he deserves it. Its also an incentive for guys like Misi to work hard. They know they'll get paid if they perform on the field.
That dude deserves everything financially that is coming his way, in the current climate of the league... Plain and simple. Any future "overpayment" can be considered compensation for the numbers reflected in this years salary.
Pay the man , I want him in the Pro Bowl , he sets a GREAT example for what hard work , dedication and effort can do.
Naw... He deserves the Pro Bowl nod this year. Sadly though he probably won't get it because of how the stupid system works. The guy deserves a pay increase, no doubt about that. I dont think his recognition around the league would be affected at all by whether he makes the Pro Bowl or not. It might for fans that maybe won't recognize his name if he doesn't make the Pro Bowl, but player execs and GM's and Scouts... they know him. They now know what he's capable of whether he makes the lousy Pro Bowl roster or not. So either way if we dont get it done soon, there's going to be plenty of teams chasing him.
