Makes sense to me as I am always nervous about foot injuries and Dobbins has played well AFTER his high ankle sprain healed after looking poor early in the season. Also expect to see Austin Spitler see some time at ILB. Spitler has a high football IQ so I am curious to see what he can do on Defense.
IIRC Spitler got a few snaps here and there in the Raiders game. Certainly didn't do himself a disservice, but didn't really leave you wanting to see more so to speak. It'll be interesting to see what he does if he gets more than a handful of snaps.
How can they and still give Henne a real shot at proving he is the guy? I like Lydon Murtha, but Lydon Murtha at LT vs the Patriots seems a slaughter waiting to happen.
exactly. you play to win, even if there's nothing to play for. If Long gets beat up during the game, then take him out.
Damn. Well, thankfully it's nothing serious. This is that time of year where the young, unproven guys get their chance to make a mark.
The season is over. There is no reason for Dansby to play and possibly further damage the toe. O.J. McDuffie continued to play with a toe injury and this injury eventually shortened his career. The team should just place Dansby on IR and let him come back healthy and ready to play next year.
The flip side to that argument; If Henne does impress while playing the Pats and handicapped with scurbs.. Then he solidifies his position as starter. I see it as low risk, high reward as hes job as starter is not guaranteed.
Well, think of it as an audition by Dobbins to replace Channing Crowder at ILB, CC is due 3.5 million this offseason and I do not think they wish to pay him that much after a 10 game, 30 tackle season, unless they absolutely must.
Dolphins have the best run defense over the past 4 games.[great defensive stats like the make me cringe looking at our record.] Dansby is the better pickup over Marshall. An elite WR still needs a great QB throwing to him. Losing Dansby makes Lions the favorites. Combined with the home record and poor Miami offense.
If it was an audition to replace Crowder next year. Well then, the Dolphins need to bring in more linebackers for an audition. Dobbins is okay on special teams. But as a starting LB in the NFL. He leaves much to be desired. He pass coverage on backs and tight ends was horrible yesterday. Hopefully Edds will be more effective next year when he returns from his injury. Crowder certainly isn't worth the three plus million dollars he is due next year. But Dobbins, as his replacement would only make matters worst, not better.
