If you pass on Mark Ingram in the first round, you do so because you think you can get a good running back later on in the draft. If you decide to take a running back in the first round, then I would much rather take Mark Ingram than take a speedy scat back who will give you no consistency at the position. With Ingram, you are going to have an every down runner that can tote the rock 20+ times a game if needed. If you use a first round pick on a CJ Spiller type of back who gives you no in between the tackles consistency or isn't a guy who can tote it 20+ times a game, then you will never get value out of the pick. Spiller has 65 rushes for 248 yards and 22 receptions for 103 yards on the year, and I can guarantee you it isn't because Chan Gailey cannot find a way to use him.

If this coaching staff stays in place minus Dan Henning, then taking a running back in the first round is not a good idea unless you have no doubts that Mark Ingram is by far the best player on the board. The reason is, this staff believes in the two back system, and one back is very unlikely to get more than 15 carries consistently.

If it's me though, I'm scouting the offensive tackles heavily, and that's the position I would use my first round pick on. Beef up the line, and the rest will take care of itself.

Don't get me wrong, I've been a HUGE fan of Ingram's since he first hit the field. I'd love to pair him with an explosive scat back. I agree with you on most of your points. For me I guess it comes down to what offensive weapons we can get in FA, and then grab the remainder in the draft. If we can get Jacoby Jones, then my first pick would probably be Ingram (provided we couldn't trade back). If we could land Bradshaw in FA and don't get Jacoby Jones or Mike Sims-Walker, then I'm looking for a playmaker at WR in the draft early on. A Bradshaw - Mike Tolbert combo would be nice IMO.

This is a great draft to trade back in b/c it's so deep in the 2nd round that you can still end up with a top RB/WR/TE with your first pick (Jon Baldwin, Justin Blackmon, Michael Floyd, Kyle Rudolph, Ryan Williams) while landing an awesome RB/TE/WR in the 2nd (Ryan Williams, Kendall Hunter, DJ Williams, Leonard Hankerson, Jerrel Jernigan) off the top of my head.

I'd rather trade back in the first and pick up Ryan Williams so I can obtain a valuable 2nd round pick to address our lack of speed/playmaking ability at WR/TE. ..... or grab Mark Herzlich with it to eventually replace Crowder.

I'd personally rather lock up our RBs before the draft b/c there's no guarantee that Ingram will last to us as we well know. It's also hard for me to stomach using a 1st on a tailback when we split the carries.

It can be debated that Julio Jones would be on the field more. I'm not saying that I'm an advocate of Julio Jones "yet", but I am saying it could be debated. His presence would be felt all over the field IMO, especially by Marshall in the form of a little less coverage. Imagine those 2 playing next to each other in every aspect of the game. One thing this offseason needs to accomplish is getting a WR/TE in here to help get Marshall's YAC up from the dead lowest on the team so he can make plays equivalent to the $40 million we're paying him. This is a very big, understated need.

The senile old man would almost have a loins except he loses all credibility by running Beds on an end around! But yeah Henning the world knows we lack offensive speed. Guess what? You are part of the problem you and the other old dinosaur that quit! Trying to rebuild the 1989 Giants who were slow and relied on a missed FG to win the superbowl!
