When your head coach is a moron and your o.c. is as conservative play caller as there is, then your young qb who is trying to learn the game doesn't have a chance.
Yeah pretty much. With one addition. Henne takes a step foward then two steps back. Thats not on the coaches. It's solely on his ***. The int for a TD should never have been thrown. Yeah please dont say Bess slipped because that was a pick 6 all day and it was the third such pass he threw that could have went for 6.
Throwing another 5 yarder with 20 secs left, classic. HELLLO.... BRANDON MARSHALL....Toss the ball to him where he can make a play on it not some garbage pass that's 20 yards over his head.
I gotta think that one's on Henne; didn't really bother to chuck it downfield. Even so, it was a bizzare play call on its own.
It wasn't a pick six if Bess doesn't fall. It was taking a chance. I'm just curious if this is on Henne or how he's coached. Regardless of if it is him or isn't him, I would still draft a QB. Even if Henne at one point had the tools, he might just be so head ****ed over he might not recover. When was Chad Henne ever Checkdown Chad in college?
I've given Henne all the chances in the world to redeem his bad days, and stuck by his good days... but I feel like it's not going to get any better. This franchise is in a tough spot right now.
Bess did slip.... unless my eyes are playing tricks on me. Bottom line. The defense lost this game, not the offense. We gave up 24 pts on D and a huge screen pass late in the game. 27 pts was enough to win the game. This was on coaching. We're rolling on offense in the 1st half and then as soon as we have a TD lead, we went right back to conservatism and playing for a FG. Not trying for a TD inside the 10 is absolutely RIDICULOUS!! That's on coaching. We've pulled this BS all year. Let Marshall earn his money down there.... and we wonder why he doesn't have many TDs. It's b/c we play for f****** FGs.
Fact is he was badly inaccurate in the fourth quarter. The Pick 6 was dangerous, but he locked on to another one and the DB dropped it. Then he misfires badly to Shuler and Vasher picks it off. Then the checkdown to Ronnie with :19 left. And every time he got pressure, he packed it in, put his head down and gave up on making a play with his arm. It sucks, but it's painfully obvious that we have glaring needs at QB and OC. And whether it's warranted or not (that's another topic), the head coach will probably pay the price as well.
Yea he's made a lot of mistakes on his own but what I'm saying is when your coaches are idiots its gonna mess your head up and as a result he makes a lot of mistakes that he probably wouldn't if he had intelligent coaches that had him thinking clearly.
We had NO i repeat NO vertical threats so how the heck do you suppose Chad throws downfield when a defense is taking away the deep play? We're a possession offense, not a vertical one. If you wanna get mad, get mad at the guys who brought in this personnel of WRs/TEs that prevent us from throwing downfield.
Someone must have said something to him because hes been doing for the last 3 weeks on a regular basis.
The coaches don't help him thats for sure. If it's Henne thats determined to checkdown in those situations why dont they send all WR's downfield? Then he has no choice but to chuck it up for a chance to win the game. What about those Interceptions? It was almost as if Henning was trying to cause an interception with that playcalling after the first time you damn near have an interception on a short play close to your own endzone why in your right mind would you call 2 more short plays throw the ball deep over the middle at least if its intercepted you D has a chance to stop the opposing team. Henning just constantly puts us in position to lose and puts Henne in position to fail. I mean Henne is definitely regressing and deserves plenty of blame but when your rookie QB comes here in his first year and progressively gets worse to the point he's at now and having seen our mockery of a coaching staff do everything they can to kill the kids confidence instead of try to help him, I actually feel bad for Henne. I remember watching him play his first year and it was inspiring watching him now it is just laughable. I think everyone likes to point fingers at the QB it's the easy thing to do but seriously we have much bigger problems than that right now.
the thing with Henne is that its not justthe bad throws and the interceptions (which is bad enough) its the fact that he's a moron that has NO command of the offense he doesn't know how to use the clock, and he seems to make really stupid decisions most of the time just because he makes a completion or a nice throw to someone, doesn't make it a good play I'm sure alot of this has to do with coaching as well....and they need to go too....but he is done THIS is is ceiling, I just don't see any more coming from him.
I dont think he meant a deep pass necessarily(as that is what prevent D prevents), as a medium range pass would have been nice over the underneath stuff to the rbs.
Listen I just don't understand how Marshall is at the 22 I just don't. I don't care who is the quarterback that's just bizarre. Tom Brady would *****slap Henning if he tried to do that.
Our biggest issue right now isn't Henne exactly, it's who in god's name is going to replace him. Our record does us no services as far as drafting a QB goes... and the FA class isn't exactly spectacular.
Bess did slip but wasn't the lb already in front of him anyway?Maybe bess makes the tackle to prevent the pick 6 but still a horrible pass.Hell he should had at least 4 picks in this game if the lions could catch the ball. I do agree the defence did not play well but you can't place the blame all on them we did have 3 turnovers and one was a pick 6. Not throwing to brandon marshall in the red zone all year just doesn't make sence. I am done with this whole coaching staff and henne.Time to move on.
We have a backup TE playing who should be on the PS and 2 inconsistent rookie FA WRs. Bess is NOT a downfield receiver. We can't throw to Brandon every play. I'm not making excuses, but this is NOT the most favorable of conditions for ANY QB in the NFL.
Your eyes were good if they saw him slip, but it did not matter if he did or not. It was a pick. How the heck can you blame the defense? Chad Henne cost them at the very least 10 points so please dont go there. Henne played a pretty damned good game until the 4th quarter where he pretty much sucked!
Exactly, to me put Henne with a 3 wide base offense, improve the Oline, and go with smaller running backs and Henne will be just fine.
Agreed on all accounts bro. Sadly this offense needs a complete makeover and it will likely cause the HC his job.
From the 2nd replay I thought Bess slipped when the ball was thrown so I'm not sure who would've had better position. We had 27 pts and no INTs. That should have been enough to win the game before the defense let the Lions back in it. The defense gets plenty of blame for this. How much pressure were we putting on the QB in the 2nd half?
Against the Jets it was not a poorly thrown ball to Fasano, and the Pitt game did not end in an INT. That ball hit the ground.
How can I blame the defense? You're a hypocrite if you blame Henne but absolve the D. How much pressure did we create in the 2nd half? How many times this year have we given up 24 pts? I guess giving up the huge TD to Best when we're up by 10 doesn't matter does it? If the defense did THEIR JOB then we wouldn't have been in that position at the end of the game to begin with.
That's an adjustment move though. You need to do more than that. My idea of a plan? Try this. - Trade the house for Andrew Luck. - Hire Harbaugh. Make it a long-term goal of your team, maybe it takes five years whatever it is have a plan. Go big. Sparano is not a SB coach. Henne I don't think can be a SB QB. You can make him productive. SB productive? I don't know...
