If he retains him, he will make Leon Hess look like owner of the century.

Eh, would not be opposed to bringing Sparano back for his final yr, think we had a real good glimpse of what Chad Henne can be..in the right system.

No way - he cannot come back. If Ross does it, it will be the worst decision he's ever made.

I think Sparano is in over his head. I could be wrong, but Ross has to think about putting butts in seats next season. He may have to go after a guy like Cowher to do that. The Heat are running away with south Florida sports fans right now.

I agree, the Dolphins are still Kings in SoFla, but that is being eroded away. Ross needs to make this decision now, before they start selling next years tix. That is what makes this hard for Ross, if he going to make a change he needs to do it very soon, or he will be too late for this year. I don't think he can wait until after the Super Bowl. That would leave the new coach barely 3 weeks to get ready for the NFL Combine.

This post is tricky as to make it sound like he plans to keep Sparano, the quote mention are the things he said in June here is the whole thing.

In June when Ross was asked how the Dolphins would perform this season, he said he expected the team to be playing in the Super Bowl in February.

"We have to get better. We will get better," Ross said Sunday. "And while I'm not in the prediction business, I'll predict that we will get better."

Asked about potential team staff and personnel changes, he said, "I don't know what you're talking about."

I predict Cowher will be our coach and I believe Dan Marino who works with him will help make it happen.

It shouldn't even be a question of if Sparano comes back. The only person that should possibly be given a second chance at this point is Ireland. I'm just not certain he deserves to be sacked as well. But I am pretty disappointed with him. People can blame Henne all they want, but I guarantee you Henne would be looking much better if any of the following had panned out:

    Pat White
    Patrick Turner
    Marlon Moore
    Roberto Wallace
    Ernest Wilford
    All of our TEs
Pretty much every offensive linemen brought in by Ireland not named Jake Long, who just happened to be the #1 pick in the draft

The fact is that, for all the success we've had building this defense from scrap, we've almost completely struck out on offense.

That may also cut down on the prospects available as other teams making changes wont wait for the Dolphins to make up their minds.

And should Ireland be trusted now that it looks like they may have to spend the whole draft & FA on offense. He can't afford anymore misses.

That's why I would bet if a change is made, it will be a cooridinator, not a "big name" guy. He wait to long I suspect.

And that would be what? Inadequate?

There's a term that is used in the real world to describe similar situations as the football operations side of the house not addressing the QB position this offseason. Its called negligence.

I don't know how you can complain too loudly about Moore and Wallace since they were found on the scrap pile. How about Justin Smiley, Donald Thomas, Jake Grove? Two of those three were expensive, and we hung our hopes (and planned around) all three.

Fasano is a fine tight end. Yes, there's probably 15 tight ends better right now, but we shouldn't be in panic mode. Given our propensity to run 2 TE sets (rather than 4 WR), another TE is a must.

Henne was pretty darn good for one half. It seemed, finally, like the training wheels were off and then he hit a wall.

We did address the QB this offseason. We re-signed Pennington, we had recently brought in Thigpen via trade. I'm not sure what you would rather have done. Bradford was well out of reach, Shaun Hill maybe? Orton was going nowhere. Cheapo trade for Brady Quinn or Matt Leinart? Delhomme, Derek Anderson? We're in no man's land, mid teens in the draft, still stinging from passing on Brees.

Negligence is a heck of a charge. I challenge you to put on your 20/20 hindsight glasses and retroactively fix the problem.

This offseason looks no more promising.

What? I'm looking ahead to this offseason and if you don't think Henne's going to find himself in a battle next TC to keep his job then I don't know what to tell you.

He's shown nothing down the stretch to inspire confidence heading into the 2011 season within the organization or amongst the fanbase.

Henne should have competition but I am not sure who it could be, unless we do something via trade for someone like Kolb.

    With whom?

I like Luck and Locker, both are out of reach. I'm not sold on Mallet or Newton. Kellen Moore is worth a late flyer, but you have to be concerned he needs a high chair and a phone book to see downfield.

Carson Palmer maybe? I'd bet Seattle. Would you spend a first on Kolb? Vick will be franchised.

That leaves Chad Pennington (I pray to God no) and some camp reclamation project. I predict Brady Quinn.

I betcha the Henne is the starter.

Mallett, Newton or Orton are all intriguing options. Carson Palmer? Not so much.

It all depends upon who's running the show (football operations) this offseason.

ABSOLUTELY! You are a very wise man. TS is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay over his head and I have been saying it all year. We need to get someone in here that has a track record of getting a team to - and wining big games. The top coaches and even most of the assistants can't say that. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken $hit. These coaches, their assistants, and a handful of offensive and DB players need to go.

First off he may not leave...second off we wouldn't be in a position to get him..... third how do you know he has the brain to be an NFL QB. You want to trade valuable picks to move up for all that. No second round pick remember? We traded that for the underwhelming Marshall. The guy who is allergic to the end zone. Your assumptions are brilliant that we would get him. There is no chance. Next.....

I would even be happy with a Jim Harbaugh at this point. A guy who seems to have a lot of potential. I'm not seeing much potential with Sparano.

Considering that it was all nonsense, I didn't feel it was worth a reply.

That said, I enjoyed this part in particular:

Can't you say that about any QB ever drafted? Hell, Chad Henne has been in the league for 3 years and we still don't know if he has the brain to be an NFL QB.

Don't you get tired spewing this drivel on a consistent basis?

If Ross wants declining attendances and poor PR and reputation then he will stick with this regime. Good luck with that one.
