You.. are a coward sir... We trusted you, A lot of us believed in you, the team that you made for us has become an embarrassment in the league, and a disgrace at home. Where are you?, why aren't you answering any questions? why as a human being do you not want to show that you can accept a responsibility, and achieve the goal of all football organizations?..What kind of man runs from adversity? and a job so incomplete that I have nothing but disgust when I think of your football morals and values..

This is not just a football issue ..This is about decency, about being a real man, about right and wrong, the most basic principles of life and being a good person..

A football Czar...what a fuc$#^ng Joke you are, and what you stand for IN LIFE...your nothing but an imposter, a fake, a phoney. You have shown us that you do not have the intellect to adapt to new types of personalities, you are stuck in the old school and are trapped in detention..What you need is a paddle, or a good old fashioned *** kickin.

I have never been more wrong about a football mind then yours, we had respect for you and the code that you wanted us to follow...A code that represented toughness first and foremost...Toughness?...what a joke, you don't the meaning of toughness, you got paid millions of dollars to do what? not finish a job?, make the fanbase embarrassed of their own team?, and then run, and not say a word?..please...I hope for your sake I never see you on the streets or in public place, because I promise to my fellow fans, I will do what's right when someone disrespects, I will check you in public..

I swear, I do not know how you sleep, or spend the money that our owners and fans have givin you, I dont know how you look yourself, or your family in the eye.

I hope I speak for thousands when I say, you have conducted yourself like a child, and we are very dissapointed in you Billie, your certainly not a man YET imo, and I do not wish you well.

Now if I could only figure out how to change this damn avatar..lol..

I knew he would be gone, I don't know how you can say you trusted him with his track record.

His job was to put people in place to run his system, that you can complain about, but him leaving? I think we all knew it would happen sooner than later, its who he is.

I always thought Parcells got way too much credit for his success....it was usually do to other people bringing in the talent, or being fortunate to have the greatest defensive player ever in Lawrence Taylor on his team. He stunk in New England, NY, and did little in Miami. I think Parcells has been living on his "rep" for at least twenty years. When you look at Parcells objectively he is just a very average front office and personnel guy. Hopefully he will take his butt buddy (Dan Henning ) with him when he leaves.

I misjudged his nature NJ..I thought the challenge to win would engross him..I thought the situation was different...His character is flawed..

I didnt mind him leaving, but the way he has, and what he left behind at this point, with the circumstances that we now have to deal with?....what kind of piece of sh$# does that man?..

    Friend djphinfan:
heart-felt & honest response from a super fan & friend
    however
without negating the essence & honesty in which you present your position
I believe when Sparano bucked him with Henne & failed with the offensive line,
Bill Parcells simply walked away from a losing proposition.

it is what it is, for whatever reason, over.

    Disagree DJ.

Parcells put the pieces in place.. Those pieces have worked out in some cases and have failed in others.. Mainly, our franchise QB is a failure and our WC specialist was a wasted draft pick, along with several other high profile FA / draft pickup busts.

Parcells was making underhanded comments about his lack of faith in Henne this offseason. He clearly saw that Henne could not get the job done.. We all screamed and shouted like maniacs, but at the end of the day Parcells was correct and we should have started the season with Pennington as #1 on the depth chart.. Sparano couldn't risk alienating the fanbase and had to go with Henne.... If we had a decent game manager at QB that didn't make ridiculously stupid throws, you would be praising Parcells now for our awesome young D, and developing offense.. Instead we are sinking due to Henne and his inability to win meaningful games.

    Dear Parcells,

Thank you for turning our organization from a historically awful one to one that is consistent and competitive. Thank you for bringing in more talent in 3 years than this team acquired in the previous 7. Thank you for setting up the infrastructure that allows us to find guys like Cameron Wake and Davone Bess.

Thank you for littering the NFL with great coaches such as Belichick, Payton, Haley, Coughlin, Weis, Crennell, etc.

    Kindest Regards,

    Stringer Bell

i dont have a problem with him leaving. he put the pieces in place. what i have a problem with is him passing on matt ryan at this stage. helluva gamble and early returns dont look promising. whoever was responsible for our offensive line this year needs to be called out for that also. If that falls on Parcells then he deserves the blame for the offense this year. If it falls on Ireland then the blame is shared for Parcells choosing Jake over Ryan and Ireland deciding other people's leftovers were good enough for us to start on our offensive line

but when it comes to our defense, thank you and Ireland for putting together a damn fine unit. Hopefully we figure out the offensive side now

String is right. In 3 years, we have acquired more talent than in ALL the years since Jimmy Johnson left. That's not for nothing.

a lot of good to build on

all we need is to reconstruct part of an offensive line:
    Center & Pulling/Guard, acquire a Franchise QB
& hire a couple of coaches, then we compete

these are not questions of pride & integrity, just all about moving on

I think even if we had Dan Marino in his prime we still couldn't win with Dan Henning's play calling. I rarely see any passes from Henne down the field for more than 20 yards....due to Henning's conservative play calling. At least with Cam Cameron you saw them trying to air it down the field occasionally to Greg Camarillo and others. When we have had the offense clicking, Henning decides to put the brakes on things by going to the Wildcat. Usually it is in the red zone with a call to Ronnie Brown, who dances side to side and gets stopped for no gain. Then the momentum is gone and Henne comes back in and is forced to pass it on 2nd and long or 3rd and long. It is so predictable and flat out boring.

DJ, since we are not paying Parcells the money, we shouldn't be concerned if he is making a million dollars a year or a billion dollars a year to do his job.

If you want to blame anyone, blame Huizenga for how he setup the contract, knowing full well that he was going to sell the team to Ross. Wayne did this to increase the value of the franchise and to give Ross a fighting chance under the new ownership...

Blame Ross for keeping the status quo as well.

But don't blame Parcells for simply taking advantage of a favorable contract with an opt-out.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Huizenga was completely clueless when it came to running an NFL team, with very little options to turn it around. It wasn't about finding a coach or a GM, it was about putting in place an infrastructure thats conducive to building a quality team.

Gives you a good indication on how Wayne made his money in the "garbage" business....

Yup, let's bring in the high profile guy in Parcells, give him the most favorable contract possible, inflate the value of the team, break the promise to Parcells and cash out....

I'm pretty sure Parcells and possibly Ross were in on it...

A really greedy and selfish man. I was done with Parcells the minute I heard he was leaving. We all knew the offense was not set, and yet he left before the job was done. Now that it all has blown up, and that Sparano & Ireland could be gone, the national media will conveniently forget he ran away from us before the collapse, one which he had a great part in creating.

I certainly agree with djphinfan. I too was wrong in believing that Parcells would do what it takes to make the Dolphins relevant in the NFL once again. Instead, Parcells took his money and ran. The Dolphins are left with another losing season and the prospect of having to start yet, another rebuilding program with a new coaching staff and GM. This team is not even close to being a playoff caliber team. Parcells thought he knew what was best when he took Jake Long and passed on Matt Ryan. While Long has been a very good left tackle. Ryan is one of the best QB's in the entire NFL and his Falcons are likely to have the best record in the NFC this season. Three years ago it was reported that Parcells was headed to the Falcons to take over football operations. At the last minute. The former owner of the Dolphins convinced Parcells to come to Miami instead. Now the Falcons have one of the best teams in the NFL. While the Dolphins are struggling to remain mediocre. So it certainly appears that the Falcons came out the winner when it comes to Parcells choice of Miami over Atlanta. Parcells has been a complete failure as the Dolphins President of Football Operations. He hired a coach and GM who have not turned this team around. He decided to forego a Pro Bowl caliber QB for one that would be the back up QB on most NFL rosters. He also selected another QB in the second round of the 2009 draft that never completed one pass in the NFL and is now playing minor league baseball, fulltime. Anyone who thinks this team is headed in the right direction is just not facing reality. The Dolphins were 1-7 at home this season. They lost their last three home games to the, Browns, Bills, and Lions. Three of the worst teams in the NFL. Parcells got richer from his time with the Dolphins. The only thing fans got out of his time in Miami is the
prospect of having the Dolphins go through yet another 3-4 years of rebuilding this team. Thanks for nothing, Bill.

I'm surprised he stayed as long as he did. I'm really not sure how to feel about Parcells. Hard to argue he hasn't improved this team but he left the job unfinished. All in all, he cannot be too proud of the product he's built or helped to build over 3 years.

That would only be true if Dan actually listened to his coaches. When we got behind in a game, and Shula sent in a running play, Dan would tell the huddle, "**** that ****! We're passing the rest of the game!"

He routinely ignored Shula, and would no doubt shun Henning today. We sure could have used that kinda QB this year!

The funny thing is this "letter" is also from the Jets, Patriots, and Cowboys. Well, the Patriots quickly turned it around with Belichick. Hope Dolphins can do the same.

Parcells should retire or change his outdated philosophy, because his gameplan does not work. Drafting a franchise LT ahead of a franchise QB does not work anymore.

I'm not his biggest fan right now.

Many say he was only supposed to put a regime in place, and that his leaving was supposed to help his guys "stand up on their own." That may be, but the fact is his guys cannot stand up on their own. Parcells had carte-blanche to put together an entire team how he see fit. Parcells could have gotten anybody he wanted - he had the opportunity to pick a GM, a coach, as well as the opportunity to choose all personnel.

Think about that. Parcells wasn't handcuffed at all, everything we have was hand-picked by Parcells.

If Parcells and his guys had slowly improved this team and rebuilt it to a contender for the next decade (or at least made it "relevant"), I'd be singing a different tune. For the amount of money Parcells took and the control he demanded, I expected more. Instead we have a perpetually rotating o-line. We have multiple failed QB experiments and (technically) are in the same QB boat we were in 2007. Our RB situation is now worse than when he got here (by virtue of our RB's being 3 years older and that position not getting addressed at all during their tenure here). Our defense is improved, but lets be fair - that's mostly Nolan because before this year we were still unexceptional there. In three years we have had three mediocre drafts, some horrible free agency moves, and are on a path to have argueably more needs in 2011 than we had in 2009 or 2010.

If I'm building or coaching this team and we go 8-8, I'm not surprised because I'm a horrible football coach and not much of a football mind. But all this talk about how great Parcells is, you'd expect better than having losing seasons.

Hopefully we don't make it two years in a row sub-.500... but sad to say it will take a BIG fight against the best team in the league just to hit .500 now.

This is a good point worth repeating.

As bad as Henning's play calls are, he was seriously stunted by Henne checking down all the time. You put Marino, Brady, or Manning in this offense and I bet you they enjoy some success.

I think this is truly a situation where an OC and a QB couldn't have been worse for each other.

I don't think that's accurate. Instructing your QB to be cautious doesn't necessarily mean endorsing the check-down, or the overuse of it. :)

You want to know where parcells is, and why he left? Because he's not man enough to admit failure. He can pass the buck and blame Ireland, Sparano, Henne, whoever he wants, at the end of the day, the buck started, and stopped with him. Everything went through him. These were his people, this was his team. He built it his way, and had it ran his way, and had his guys run it his way even after he started to back away. Why back away when he did you ask? Because, well you're right, he's a coward. He won't admit to the failure that he created. His ego is bigger than his manboobs, and that about sums it up.

That being said, his guys have at least left us with a decent foundation to continue to build upon with respect to player personnel. However, the coaching staff on the offensive side of the ball, and the guy at the top have to go. I'm willing to give Ireland another draft, he's made some nice pickups, but of course with that some epic misses.

Sad though that Bill would distance himself from it the second things started to head south, not sure why we're surprised though. Bill couldnt care less, he's got his feet up somewhere enjoying the millions he got from us, that he didnt quite finish earning.

You could say that about any position though.

Part of putting a team together includes finding personnel that can be "tough" and last more than a handful of games. Guys like Grove, who were known to be like glass, were brought in with such optimism - only to leave some scratching their heads as to why he couldn't stay healthy.

Well, we are not in a bad place as it is, the Dolphins Franchise in the ER is now off of life support and is heading towards the recovery room, things have been stabilized and rehab is almost finished.

We are once again competitive in our division, we split with two teams and have a game with the third team upcoming, we no longer are concerned about a scrub Right Tackle "losing enough weight", we have increased the talent at 4 of the 5 key positions.

I agree it's not as bad as it appears simply cause the mess of our OL is due to injuries and not from lack of talent, if healthy next year it can be a formidable group and one less area of the team to worry about.

Difference between 09 and 10 is not the record, it is the roster, we got much younger and will grow a bit younger still as most of the non Ireland players are moved out, our schedule was rated at .538 for draft purposes which makes it one of the tougher ones in the NFL, that is where surface similarities depart from the reality of the two seasons.

Do think as great as Wake as been, we need more depth on Defense in terms of passrushing.

What I think is ****ty DJ is that he left the coaches he brought in out to dry. If he knew that this season might be rocky, he should have stuck by them and helped them right this ship. Now his buddies Sparano and Ireland might lose their jobs. He could have stayed and helped them get through this. Maybe one more draft, who knows. But hell, I mean Ross is paying him for this season anyhow...Parcells decided to just up and walk before the season leaving his guys to figure this out on their own, all while he still gets paid to watch at home. Well now he can sit back and watch his guys get fired.
