Nice, and very representitive of the Dolphins a #1 overall pick and a exCFLer. I'd think Wake was the first fmr CFL positional player to make the Pro Bowl since Jeff Garcia(?) http://www.lionbackers.com/bc_lions/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=19222 I had known Jake Scott played in the CFL did not know he also played for the BC Lions
Wake has worked hard for a trip to Hawaii. Wonder if anyone else will get bumped to "pro bowl player" status due to injury and the super bowl team players. The game is still the week before the Super Bowl again, right? Or did it go back?
Good picks. I'm not too mad Carpenter got left off, but surprised it isn't Jaguars Josh Scobee over Raven's Cundiff? Cundiff is not as good as Carpenter or Scobee. Jerod Mayo got it over Dansby. Mayo has more tackles, but Dansby missed a game and was limited in another. Dansby has more sacks and Forced Fumbles than Mayo, and is more of a leader. I think Dansby should have gotten picked as the 2nd ILB over Mayo. Long won't play, and should probably sit this Sunday's game.
Most here said it couldn't be done when Taylor and Porter left. My take was that Wake was the only true talent we had at all in the LB corp. I kept repeating if he could learn to play with his hand off the ground he would be special...... and look at that they take out the trash (except Crowder) and revamp the group and one of them makes the Pro Bowl. I spoke and this board called me everything but a white man. See now young defensive players can make a difference. Haha!!!!!!!!! Congrats to Cam Wake!
In all fairness, Mayo has a LOT more tackles than Dansby according to Pro Football Reference (110 vs 77), they each have 2 forced fumbles while Mayo has 3 recoveries to Dansby having zero. Dansby has 3 sacks compared to 1. Mayo was also a high draft pick and plays for the most successsful team in football this year. I don't think Dansby has made the pro bowl in his entire career... someone correct me if I'm wrong...
There are plenty of members at this board who gave me major grief over my opinions of the LB's last season. If you are asking this question chances are you weren't one of them Some will read my post and say I'm just tooting my own horn but I know deep down it is just a gift that I have......
Funny thing is, Wake is seriously discussing Crowder with him to Hawaii, which is the only way Crowder will ever make it out to the Islands..
Easy there big fellah, better reward yourself with a second steak to go with your eggs or something..
Killah, you would not believe the crap I took in preseason 09 about Cameron Wake because I believed he would be a player for us, "CFL players suck in the NFL, he'll never make it" blah blah blah.
Wake is Ireland at his best, small move at the time, big dividends, this entire organization is just weird in that the things that work are the small moves, the things that tend not to work were the big moves until this yr. Even their performance is slippery, you can see the bad, you can see the good.
I could see him sitting out the Pro Bowl to have surgery and start rehab, but no need to take Sunday off. Once a labrum is torn, there's nothing you can do to injure it further.
Congrats Jake Long/Praise from the Best Just wanted to congratulate Jake Long, and Cameron Wake, on making the Pro Bowl. As many of you know I work for Anthony Munoz's Foundation in Cincinnati, and thought this was a pretty cool video. Some nice praise for Jake Long. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-oline...d81ccc57e/O-Line-Confidential-Bengals-Week-13 Just an FYI, Anthony and I got to talking about the best OL players before this was filmed and he listed his best pass-blocking LT as Joe Thomas, Jake was second. I did find it was interesting that one day Anthony called me from the road and asked him to print off a depth chart for all 32 teams O-lines for this show. He told me not to make any special mention of Jake (he knows I'm a Dolphins fan and we kid back and forth a lot), so I had no idea that this was coming. Thought it was a pretty cool thing to hear the best LT of all-time really likes Big Jake.
I imagine Marshall is pretty low. No clue about Dansby, but I'd guess Carpenter has to be pretty high up.
I missed on my pro bowl predictions. I had Long, Wake, Marshall, Davis and Dansby getting in this year. 7-8 and a couple of injuries hurt those guys. Marshall would have had 100 catches and 1,200 yards easy had he not gotten hurt. Davis being left off is a product of a Greg Jennings highlight and the team sucking. Ditto for Dansby.
