Off the bus. I'm not saying cut the cord, but Orton or a 1st Rd talent. No excuses.

Agree, but if we didn't have a moron running the ship at that time we could have had Brees as opposed to Culpepper in which we more than likely wouldn't even be having this discussion and instead we would be talking about the playoffs.

You dont know if you are getting "Brees" or "Culpepper" if you go after Orton. I just think its a better gamble taking a 50/50 shot at that than the lower odds of a 3rd round draft pick.

Saban took the opinion of the medical staff on a medical issue. He wasn't a moron for his decision between the two.

Well I can't say I agree. You were picking between two gimps at the time. I would at least take the chance on the Gimp that had two previous good seasons and the fans were pissed was being traded over the Gimp that averaged almost two turnovers a game, fat and out of shape.

And one cost us a 2nd round pick the other wouldn't have

So you're saying he's good when he isn't forced into 3rd and longs? I'm sure every QBs numbers are better in that circumstance. I'm sure the outcome of a 1st down is greater too. That doesn't tell me anything.

Last year we had a Top 3 running game, I believe. Yet he was still mediocre.

There is no doubt you're right though. A better running game, more consistent and dynamic, will help this offense and Henne. But for me that will only mask the problems until he is called on to win a game, especially the 4th quarter.

All we've had are below average Qbs. Kyle Orton is ahead of everyone we've had since marino. Nobody is talking about trading a 1st or a 2nd. But a 3rd? Come on you do that asap

you usually get what you pay for
time to go after another franchise qb (think Marino)
time to go up in the draft & bring home the piece that's missing
I believe we get a first round draft choice @ QB whatever the cost in 2011

Get Palmer in the offseason. I think the Bengals are the new Raiders and I don't think Carson is done. Move Ryan to head coach. Draft OL with the first pick in an offensive heavy draft.

But if a QB falls to you in the 1st, get him.

No, he's not good. He's the best QB in the NFL in 3rd and normal (3-7 yards). This means that a good ground game can keep us in these manageable 3rd downs rather than all the ridiculous 3rd and 8+ (which we've seen about 10 more of than 3rd and 3-7s). So if we're in more of these 3rd and normals, then we have the top QB in the NFL right now to convert them and keep the chains moving rather than punting away.

He also chose to ignore James Andrews opinion who just happens to be the most respected Orthopedic surgeon working with the NFL.
Saban had a go opinion from a much more respected source.

Having said that, I fault our Medical staff much more for screwing up another decade of this franchises future.

We had become quite good at making bad decisions over and over and over.

I was talking about the post directly above mine about orton being a below average qb. I probably should have quoted that one.

This is clearly a guy who would take a QB in the 1st round no matter who he is just to say he drafted a 1st round QB. Just as absurd as not investing a high draft pick into a top QB prospect for almost 2 decades.

Definitely not starting material. I had more faith in Joey freakin Harrington. Need another talent to compete in camp.

You want a member of the Ryan Family as HC? Do you like feet?

And no to Palmer. He loves INTs. Loves them.

The eternal debate............A very good QB will make the running game better and a very good running game will make a QB better. If you are lacking in either, and the opposing D figures out which it is, and they eventually will, they will take what you have left........away. Then.........your offense will be in trouble..................which is where we are now, without a very good QB and no running game. All this is just about moot, if you have a Marino or Manning, but that is VERY rare.

This is close but let me clean that up for you a little bit: :shifty:

We have too many needs on O to trade off a 3rd for Orton, 2012 should be our year for the QB reach in the first.

Draft/PickUp/Find/Discover A New Offensive Coordinator, find the next young aggressive up and comer who has passion and something to prove! Henning was here on a favor same as Farve this year, both Favors ended in the same end result, picture Henning knocked out cold on the frozen tundra (Move this up to first, the players love Sporano, but they are throwing Henning under the bus, in subtle little ways) Top Priority!

Trade Down W/ Our Draft Pick To Get a Late First & 2nd Round Pick And Draft Interior Line, Ricky and Ronnie and can still produce behind a good line and proper blocking schemes, Ronnie isnt missing the holes with his dancing, he is avoiding D in his back field and looking for holes that arent there, I would bet he's cheaper than 1st rounder anyway.

Maybe Trade Crowder For a 5th (or Is That Too High?) throw in Carp too, I love him but if he can bring picks we need them more than FGs! + Maybe we will be more aggresive if we have a sh**y kicker

Speedy Receiver/KR-Draft (ahem Torrey Smith Outta Maryland) Yes but Picks Mannie, we need Picks, mainly why we pass on RB and keep RR, we have stronger needs and few picks

Maybe Draft Another QB (Ponder/Stanzi/Moore), yes but I was thinking the Kid from TCU, maybe the sleeper of the Draft, plus what about the kid from LSU that backs up A Rodgers, he put up 27 on NE and looked alot sharper than Henne has all year! We could give them Thiggy! ?

So: pass on Orton, Re-Build the O-Line (Damn that Carolina game from '09, thats where we lost it!), trade talent for picks (Carp and kick out that FG crutch), one more WR deep threat, Roll the cheap dice on a sleeper QB (but look to 2012 for the real deal), run RR for one more year (they'll combine for 100+ per game behind a good line and a proper OC) do what you can in FA, UDFA & URFA.

We do that and we will compete for the East next year! or fire Sparano and start all over again, and finish middle of the pack again

<waits for applause> behind this couch :couch:
