Since it didn't get a mention in the other thread. The team still has his back. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...orses-tony-sparano-not-sure-about-chad-henne/
Of course they do. I don't think anyone questions that Sparano is a very great at relationships with players and is a great motivator, issue arises with his inability to adapt, to not be such a safe coach, his inability to actually understand how awful Henning is. Give him credit, he did see how bad Henne was. Even I called the benching a horrible decision. In hindsight it was a tremendous decision.
I personally dont think Sparano is a bad coach i think if we get a new OC and a new QB we could be a really good team we were in a lot of our games this year and were winning some but because of the plays called and the mistakes by the QB we lost a lot of those games
Awesome doesn't translate to Wins. Sorry Tony is a GOOD guy we all know, but Im not sure hes the coach to lead us to the big one. Hes made all the wrong moves.
I believe you yelled at me a few time Napster when I said the benching was the right thing to do..lol
all the players are behind sparano and have stated it publicly. Dansby, Marshall, Long, Crowder, Ricky. Ross has to allow him to coach next year.
No, that’s not what I meant. When Penny went down, I really expected the 5 year vet to seize his opportunity.
Thigpen did, in part. He closed out the Titans game very well. And that's exactly what the team has not done since, finish the close games. None of our QBs were going to do well in that Bears game. Not with 7 rushing plays called, and the injuries to the O line, and stupid penalties, against the #1 defense in the NFL at that time. Would we have been shut out? Maybe not. Would we have won? Not a chance.
Could someone please explain how benching Henne was a good move? What exactly did it accomplish other than make it clear that we had no viable options behind our starter? It was a knee jerk reaction from a guy that is lost out there on a weekly basis.
Because the players like him we should excuse the fact he hasn't improved as a game day coach in 3 years? Or the fact that his out dated offensive philosophy does nothing but handcuff the offense? They'll like the next guy too.....
The coaches didn't know that Penny was going to go down when they benched henne. Had Penny been able to stay in the games, It could have been a stroke of genius. I agree. I could go either way with him. If he brings in a OC with a mind for the new NFL rules and how they play favorites to the passing game, I'm all in. If he wants to run the Parcells '80's football, I'm out.
Whats outdated? The Ravens, Steelers, Jets, Chiefs and Jaguars all run the same type of offenses and at least four of those are going to the playoffs. The only AFC teams who run spread mainly and are going to the playoffs are the Patriots and the Colts and the Colts suck. Texans arent going to the playoffs. Jets, Steelers, Patriots, Colts, Ravens were all better than us last year. So we didnt catch up this year. Who cares. Our defense caught up. We need one more year for our offense to catch up. No need to blow everything up and start over again. Ross needs to listen to the players and not the fans.
