( I came up with this idea from a PC game called NFL Coach where you have to manage every aspect of your team, from selecting your coaches, to managemnet meetings with your owner and staff, to actual NFL draft, trades, signings, practices and games)

    This should be fun............

Ok, you are the new owner or coach of the Miami Dolphins, and your job is to restore this franchise. From top to bottom: It means the option of bringing in a coach, free agency, and draft, plus the type of offense and defense scheme, etc.

Who stays? Who goes? Who is coming in?

So the ball is in your hands............ what are YOU going to do? Give me at least 5 moves that will improve the team..........

Okay, I'll give it a shot.

--The first thing I'm going to do is find a Senior VP of Football Operations who is a "football" guy and who is not looking for a temporary job. If he wants a x year contract with an option to opt out of his contract after x years, or what not, then no, he's not the guy. I was a SVPFO who KNOWS football and who's looking to stay around for a very long time.

--Then I'm going to I'm going to look at my GM and evaluate his drafts. How many draft picks did the team actually sign, how many are pro bowl selectees, how many are even starters. If his draft picks look good, i'll keep him. If not, I'm going north to see Bill Polian, President of the Indianapolis Colts and short of giving him anal tongue darts, get his opinion on who would be a GM...perhaps bring in a successful college coach as they know college players best.

--As for this scenario, Dan Henning is gone...not if's ands or buts about it. I'll be looking for an established offensive coordinator to bring to Miami...Mike Martz, Norv Turner, someone of that caliber whose offenses have been juggernaughts.

--Then I'm going down to basics...I'm going to look at the strength and conditioning coaches. Now me being retired military, I know how to strengthen and condition soldiers for the environments in which they are in. What are these strength and conditioning coaches doing with set players? Can an O lineman push a greyhound bus 40 yards in under a minute? Can our receivers consistently do the 40 in 4.0 flat time? Can the entire team run 3 miles in under 25 minutes? Miami Florida has some of the most brutal heat and humidity and as Don Shula did with the 72 Dolphins, he drilled them to death in the heat of south Florida prior to the perfect season.

--With my draft picks, what are my needs, for today as well as the future? Ronnie Brown hasn't many years left, so his heir needs to be drafted. Mark Ingram from Alabama, from the SEC, the "NFL" of college football would be my choice to get if he's available. The reason I wouldn't draft a 1st QB in the upcoming draft, who do I have to mentor him? Dan Marino was fortunate enough to have Don Strock as his mentor and I don't care what anyone says, back-up QB or not, Don Strock was a QB genius. We won't have that to mentor a 1st round pick, so...I'd look to sign a FA QB and not be afraid to break open the checkbook nor trade draft picks. Kevin Kolb comes to mind as my first choice. Not the "heir to Marino", just someone who will be here for 5 years or so to allow us to rebuild the team and draft a good first rounder next year.

    Okay, theres my 5 things.

1.steal dick lebeau(sp)away from the steelers to become head coach(fat chance as he really enjoys his job and the organization).i think lebeau and nolan would build a phantastic d
2.bring in marty morningweg(sp)from the eagles to be the o.c to take care of the offense as lebeau is obviously a defensive coach.
3.i would take deep look at our scouting department and make some changes there if neccisary which so far seems neccisary.
4.i would relace the medical staff
5.i would move the phins back to the orange bowl or at the least put a retractable roof on the one we have now so we don't have to play in monsoons the first 2 months of the season.

many other things would be addressed like replacing crowder, our back up tight ends, half the o-line,get rid of mister glass.obtaining a running back with breakaway speed..boy ross has his hand full with this organization..i quit. i would sell the team and spend the rest of my days drinking mia tia's and watching pretty girls run down the beach.

    1. Fire Sparano and bring in a disciplinarian coach who demands excellence: GRUDEN.
    2. Get rid of Henning and bring in a OC who is innovative, even if it means getting a guy from the college ranks.
    3. We have to fix our QB problem. Trade our first rounder for Kyle Orton. That's the price we will have to pay since we don't have a second rounder.
    4. Can anybody tackle on this team, or catch a ball when making an INT? What the heck is wrong with our soft defense. If Crowder and Sean Smith think they have "arrived," and don't have to work then cut them and find people who are going to work hard.
    5. Sorry Parcells, and all the other old retreads.....your time has come and gone...turn in your resignation. Time to clean out the front office.

Its gone dude, never to return.....unfortunately.

But I am on DJ's OB2 bandwagon. I wish we really could get a movement to build a modern replica of the Grand Old Dame of Football.

The revolution has begun Jake..I like the way you think..lets make the bluprints and pitch it to Mike Dee and other billionares..lol...It would pay for itself....serious.

Must be hard for players to win as a team, when the team has no connection to their fans...It would probably wear on me too.

    another regime bites the dust...

we need a star QB and a star running back...Thats how I fix it....to start with.

    1. QB is key. There isn't a doubt in my mind we would have made the playoffs if Peyton Manning, Brady, or Brees was our QB this year. Everything being equal a different QB would have made the difference. I don't want to slam Henne because he isn't awful, but he is too inconsistent and throws too many interceptions. We need a QB we can trust in the redzone.

    2. Fire Sparano and Ireland and hire Mike Nolan as our head coach. Pair him with a strong GM and get him a QB. Or hire Cowher or Gruden. Any of those three head coaches would make me happy. Again, I don't want to slam Sparano but he was an offensive line coach and our o-line regressed in Year 3. That's... not good. Just not good. Our o-line should have been a strength not a weakness. Simply no excuse.

I want a coach like Shula. He truly built the team around the talent he had rather than just giving lip service like so many coaches do. When Shula had Csonka we were a power-running team. When Shula had Marino we lit up the sky. With that in mind Cowher would be my first choice. He made it work with Kordell "Slash" Stewart in 2001 and Ben Roethlisberger in 2005.

    3. Re-sign Ronnie Brown and pair him with a rookie running back. Draft a center in the 3rd or 4th round and find a f¢#%& tight end who can block. A new offensive philosophy will help too. Ronnie Brown is not the reason we cannot run the ball. Maybe he's been slowed by injuries or whatever but running back is the least of our problems.

    4. Hire Bill O'Brien to be our offensive coordinator. Who needs Brady, Moss, Welker, and Faulk? He got it done with Hoyer, Edelman, Gronkowski, and a 12th grader at running back.

    5. And no matter what! At all costs!! We must keep Quentin Moses and cut Jason Taylor!!! Oh wait--

So...Princekong...you're getting rid of Long, Polite, Marshall, Bess, Carpenter, Vontae, Wake, and Dansby? That's if I understood your post right.

    That seems completely crazy.
