A chance to get Cowher and they won't because they want to retain Jeff Ireland.
This organization is downright fuggin' clueless.

Not saying there are NOT other good coaches out there...

Just saying....I dont think Ross will fire Sparano if he cant land Gruden, Cowher, or Harbaugh. If he was just dead set on firing Tony, it would have already been done.

Ross is testing the waters on those candidates...seeing if there is a mutual interest through intermediaries...and if not...will likely keep Sparano and insist on big changes on the O side

I would be okay with Gruden as long as Ireland is retained as GM and Nolan remains as DC.

i said this on the club level, but i dont care if it gets out:

Harbaugh has told his entire staff that if he takes the 49er job, he wants to bring everyone including the athletic trainers; doctors and a one Steve wisniewski who is currently the stanford stregnth and conditiong intern. I know this because the head athletic trainer is a friend and ex boss of mine when i worked in the arena league.

I can honestly say that miami is the furthest from his mind, he has stated in the local media out here in N.cal that he does NOT want to move his family if he doesnt have to and that if he were to move anywhere it would be michigan.

It appears many on here have Gruden at the top of their wish list. Just a reminder to those who want him with the Dolphins. He was FIRED in Tampa Bay. Yes, he won a Super Bowl with the Bucs. The Bucs were already a top team when he took over as head coach. They had one of the top defensive teams in the NFL at the time and Monte Kiffen as the defensive coordinator. During the Bucs winning years. They won with defense mainly. Gruden was really never able to develop a QB to be the long term solution in Tampa. In fact he went through QB's like Liz Taylor went through husbands. So anyone expecting him to come here and have the answers to the QB issues which have faced the Dolphins since Marino retired. You just might be disappointed. While I would certainly take Gruden over Sparano. I would much rather have Harbaugh, Cowher, or Fisher, if the Titans fire him, over Gruden. If Gruden is the choice of Ross. I will hope for the best but I will not be surprised if he fails to be the offensive mastermind so many people on here think he is.

Well...first....we dont know what has or has not been offered to Cowher. That was inside sources.....

But it could also be the amount of money Cowher wants. As well....its interesting on Black Friday...Mike Nolan's name has NOT been mentioned as a HC anywhere. There may be some feeling that they dont want to lose Nolan as a DC, and Cowher may want to clean house...

Havent really been thinking of Jeff Fisher...but he is a heck of a coach as well.....

yeah this sounds like Ross just doesn't know what he is doing. Is the Fat Man putting his spin on things for the media and no one is saying that ? I think he is pissed that his boy might get fired.

Wyche is making it sound like Ross is gauging interest and if there is interest...THEN he will can Tony.

maybe fisher but it seems this is a business consideration and not a football consideration. it seems the only people ross will consider are "name" coaches that would sell seats. i'm not even sure if fisher falls into that category. if ross was looking at this from a football point of view we would be considering coordinators as well. apparently we arent.

seems to me ross might be interested in cowher, gruden and harbaugh and thats it. if none of them are doable sparano stays

That is soooooooooo unprofessional. I just lost even more respect for Ross if its true. I will keep saying it, though, the Fat Man may be spinning stuff to Wyche & LaCanFora because of his boy. Making Ross look bad because he is pissed that his boy Sparano is about to be fired. Parcells can be very vindictive.

    Ross?

He is an NFL outsider, if anyone gauging interest it would be Ireland and even then.

Per Jay Glazer, Harbaugh's guest at tonight's Orange Bowl in Miami is none other than new Broncos VP of Football Ops John Elway.

Between this and FFG's info, it seems like Miami would need a miracle just to be considered.

As for sniffing around before you dump your existing coach, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. It's smart business. You don't make that move without a plan in place.

The loyalty aspect sucks. But this is a tough business. And this ain't 1-15 Cam Cameron they're dealing with. The Dolphins could realistically end up worse off if they just fired Tony without being in the thick of it already.

Well then that is a done deal. Harbaugh is going to be a beast in Denver. Once again we'll be the bridesmaid.

It's almost as bad as a husband wanting a new car.... but then gauging interest with the wife, knowing that if she says no, it's back to the POS he is currently driving.

I dont think harbaugh will end up in denver...but its way more possible than miami. I personally think he ends up at michigan, he would be a beast of a recruiter.

Oh my bad. Niklas, we had a nice conversation over the phone regarding flights to canada you'll probably remember. And btw. it was a very successful stay in Vancouver, awesome city.

I like Gruden and Fisher as possible replacements for Sparano. Not sure how I would feel about Fox.

The sky isn’t falling, but Gruden might cause sea levels to rise a few feet.

I really wish he had gone to the NCAA. Would have been a perfect fit for his style of coaching.

Its always good to know someone in the training room; they usually know the scoop on a lot of things... Athletes and coaches like to talk in the training room as it is usually a safe haven and no one cares what you say.

Well. the way I see it, it will not matter who the HC is per se as long as the Staff is cleaned up, Henning and Lee should be gone, Darren Rizzi should also be gone.

Gruden sounds good to me if he were an option. I've always liked him and he knows his football. Also, I don't buy that Gruden would come in here and change an already real good defense because he prefers a different system. His expertise is exactly what we need help with...offense. With an already good, young defense in place, it would only encourage him more to take the job as we are a team that is on the rise.

I think he learned alot more about offenses while on his Monday Night gig. He went thru alot of tape. I think that alone will help him become a better head coach.

    I agree with this 100%

I was going to type the same thing I have highlighted.

All this speculation is interesting...Hacksaw Hamilton is saying that Ross is on his way to fire Ireland and Sparano as we speak....all still speculation...what we don't know about Ross is whether or not he has a plan in place. I would gather by his success at the business level that he has a plan, so whomever he wants as a replacement, at least in his mind, is decided on. That said, there are a lot of variables that have to go into a replacement for the current staff. Does he really want to clean house and start over ?? Does he want a proven guy there (Cowher or Gruden)?? Has he spoken to them yet ?? Don't know, but I suspect that IF he is going to fire this regime, he has something in mind already. If he wants a Gruden, Cowher or Harbaugh (arguably the top candidates), he'd better get them locked up quickly.

A lot of questions and uncertainty until we hear from Ross' mouth. He has no track record with the fan base here so everything is up for speculation...

The thing is, would Gruden come in here knowing that Ross has selected the defensive side of the ball ?? Will Nolan want to work with Gruden ?? Does Gruden want total autonomy of the team and if so, where would that leave Nolan, arguably our one shining spot this year ??

I don't blame Gugs, in fact with McQ and Murtha I thought he did an outstanding job in 10 the way he did in 09 with Garner.

John Jerry though, is a mess, I suspect he is on the Carey program and will bounce around a bit between G and Tackle.

If ever Ross was infact going to "Clean the Slate"....this is about the only time he will have so much fan support in doing so.....he can easily say he wants to put out a product that has his hands all over it....not Parcells and Huizenga.

So....anyone else sitting on the edge of their seat?

I don't think Harbaugh is coming here...but I also don't think he is going to Denver. Imo the whole Elway thing is just Elway being the most prominent Stanford player ever being at their biggest game ever as a guest of the coacj.

Well he has been here 2 seasons and has managed to coach up at least one Scrub into a Starting quality Olinemen, in 09 Garner, in 10 McQ and Murtha, and in 09 they were a Vet line.

Miami Dolphins: Our prediction is that Tony Sparano is gone, the victim of an underperforming offense and a new owner's need for a sexier name at the head coach position. If Fisher doesn't go here, Bill Cowher could very easily be in play. The excellent work that Mike Nolan has done with the Dolphins' defense would lay fears to rest that without a defensive coordinator like Dick LeBeau or Dom Capers, Cowher might be an overrated hire. ~ Yahoo Sports
