I am reading allot of posts and different reports. Dont know what to believe. Why is Sparano still here? Other teams already making moves. I mean, who was on the Stanford sideline along Harbaugh.....Elway!!!

Guys, help me understand what is the holdup????

I have read some things that have me very upset for lack of a better word. You guys know that to get the Grudens and Cowhers you have to open up the check book. And when they make demands you dont choose to keep Ireland and pass on Gruden or Cowher.....unless you are the Fins!! No wonder this organization has stunk so much for so long!!!!

PLEASE...pay the coach WHATEVER he wants! Give him WHATEVER he wants!!! You have a chance to get a mega coach!!! A PROVEN coach in Cowher or Gruden and you let them walk away from the table???? I am SO MAD RIGHT NOW!!! Grow a pair and do what you gotta do, Ross! Show a REAL commitment to this team PLEASE!!! :pity:

If you are saying the only thing stopping Cowher from coming is financial........... how can you be cheap at a time like this...he WANTS to come here!!!! He wants to bring in his own people? He says Ireland must go? DO IT!!

I dont have a problem with Harbaugh, but he coached in college, not in the NFL, and normally college coaches dont do so well in the pros. I think he is a bit over hyped for a guy that has never coached in the NFL.

At least not right away. I think Gruden or Cowher are the safer choices.

Please set the tone for the new few years and get SOMETHING right!! Show you are commited to winning NOW!

Or else you know what you can do with your season tickets!!!!

It is not "financial". it is "Financial and Control". Cowher wants full control which means he wants Ireland gone as well. Take a look at the fiasco happening in Washington with Shannahan going in with full control and what a mess he has made of things there and ask yourself if Ross is willing to put his team in that position too? It is a risk/reward situation right now and he is working all the angles to get things he wants. But one thing is for sure, $$ is not an issue in the end as I think Ross will open the checkbook if need be

This is not Shannahan and Washington is several hundred miles up I-95. Isnt it worth it to get a top proven coach? Is the point to put in the best guy for the job? When Cowher or Gruden are on the opposite sideline and Miami is getting routed...........arent you going to care less about control and money?? Arent you going to only think about the fact, we blew it AGAIN...........

What is it a mess in Tampa when Gruden controlled everything or in Pitt when Cowher was in control? What about in NE where Beliicheck controls everything??

There is absolutely no logic in your statements.
-How is Shanahan any different than Cowher or Gruden? All superbowl winning coaches.
-What does Washington being up I-95 have to do with anything?
-Gruden took over a good team in Tampa and eventually ran it into the ground (he did do a good job in Oakland though)
-and why people can't understand this: Cowher did not have full control in Pittsburgh. any pittsburgh fan will tell you that Cowher is a great coach, but not a talent evaluator
-Bill Belicheck is arguably the best at what he does, he's the exception

Because WHO CARES what happened to Shanahan who hasnt been relevant in God knows how long...........and if he became avaliable no one would go after him.............. Just because he did not take advantage of the control given....how does that translate to Cowher and Gruden, .........every coach is different..........they sre not connected at the hip are they....... ?? How does that doom other coaches??

Yes leave washington and the redskins problem in washigton up I-95............it has nothing to do with us. I can give you just as many examples of coaches that succeed with total power as you can the opposite.......

You REALLY think we should wait around because there will eventually be a better proven option then Cowher and Gruden..........k......who? The problem is this passive wait and see attitude instead of being more aggresive!! The Jets, and I hate them, are aggresive in going after the personell they want.....that is why they are so much better then us!

I read blogs like this and come to the conclusion that not only are the coaches the problem and the players the problem........some fans may also be the problem! Havent you seen enough? Do you still have that kinda of faith in the people making the choices in the front office?

They think they can afford to pass on Cowher or Gruden.........and you agree...........lets wait?? Hey! Maybe Ditka or Buddy Ryan would like to come back and coach.

Alright smart guy. give me some good examples, since the salary cap was instituted, of coaches that were given full control and were successful in building a superbowl caliber team.

you should try calming down a little bit before ranting and looking crazy.

and the Jets didn't get to where they are just because they are aggressive, they are in the playoffs because their GM has evaluated talent much better than the non-playoff teams (argghh, that hurts to type).

and so now, we fans are the problem, and your ranting and raving is the sensible approach? let's go out and throw the franchise at Cowher or Gruden's feet. Or here's an idea: let's learn from the lessons that burned us in the past about giving total control to one man. If you knew anything, you'd understand that you need a good GM and a good coach to build a great team. the current patriots team is the ONLY exception.

I fully supported paying Harbaugh a boatload of money and being aggressive to get him, but only because he could join Ireland as a team and focus on coaching while Ireland brought in the talent.

Usually rants aren't worth the hell but when you chase after a college coach on your AIRPLANE it makes sense

Oh, thanks for your medical evaluation of my emotions, but the only emotion I get as I read your responses, is I feel like laughing at you, and then I feel sorry for you.

Ok, lets see........Don Shula and Joe Gibbs, and Jmmy Johnson had total control and free reign. Nobody told them who to pick and what to do..........John Gruden was in total control in Tampa and they won the big one! Rex Ryan has total control. It is funny how he tells the owner what to do and that teaam, Im sorry to say is going to win a superbowl well before Miami does. What about Mike Holgrem in Greenbay AND in Seattle!! Tony Dungy was intrusted with the total operation of his team in Indy. And even in Baltimore, Bellick made the superbowl run with not a peep from his ownership! Ozzie Newsome and company up there never interfered.

If I was was in fact ranting nad raving, then my ranting and raving is well over due in lite of the 30 plus years, your foolish logic and passive attitude................wonder how that helps! You will be the same guy next year running up a tab in depression at years end....when you see the big name coach on the other sideline leading his team to the playoff, and Miami in line for another #15 pick

Get off your hands and make your voice heard. Ask for something to suipport and dont support blindly............... If you know that Cohwer or gruden are the man for the job, and you trust that they are good solid coaches, and safe picks, you instill the trust of the team in them. You dont ask them to run the team with others peoples guys?
