Yep the over extended with Manchester United and cut spending with the Bucs. So bad the NFL investigated and tossed out the idea of forcing a sale of the team for leveraging the Bucs to by Manchester United. But it is well known around Tampa you do business with the Glaziers and be ready to wait for your money!

This is very very true. I live in TB market so naturally am susceptible to all that mess as well. Glazers tightened on Gruden and Bruce Allen a ridiculous amount. However, their drafts is what did them in.

    Grudens first draft
2 64 Dewayne White DE Louisville
3 97 Chris Simms QB Texas
    4 130 Lance Nimmo T West Virginia
    4 133 Austin King C Northwestern
    5 168 Sean Mahan G Notre Dame
6 205 Torrie Cox CB Pittsburgh

Dewayne White decent player. Torrie Cox was decent as a KR

1 15 Michael Clayton WR Louisiana State
3 79 Marquis Cooper LB Washington
4 111 Will Allen SAF Ohio State
    5 146 Jeb Terry G North Carolina
6 181 Nate Lawrie TE Yale
7 206 Mark Jones WR Tennessee
7 228 Casey Cramer RB Dartmouth
7 252 Lenny Williams CB Southern University

Michael Clayton made a splash as a rookie but was awful after that. awful draft.

1 5 Cadillac Williams RB Auburn
2 36 Barrett Ruud LB Nebraska
3 71 Alex Smith TE Stanford
3 91 Chris Colmer T North Carolina State
    4 107 Dan Buenning G Wisconsin
5 141 Donte Nicholson DB Oklahoma
5 155 Larry Brackins -- Pearl River CC MS
6 178 Anthony Bryant DT Alabama
7 221 Rick Razzano RB Mississippi
7 225 Paris Warren WR Utah
7 231 Hamza Abdullah DB Washington State
    7 253 J.R. Russell WR Louisville

Again Caddy made a splash as a rookie and hasnt done anything since. Role player at #5. Barrett Rudd was a great pick. Hes their best LB still. All those picks and they managed one starter out of it.

    1 23 Davin Joseph G Oklahoma
    2 59 Jeremy Trueblood T Boston College
3 90 Maurice Stovall WR Notre Dame
4 122 Alan Zemaitis CB Penn State
5 156 Julian Jenkins DE Stanford
6 194 Bruce Gradkowski QB Toledo
6 202 T.J. Williams TE North Carolina State
7 235 Justin Phinisee CB Oregon
7 241 Charles Bennett DE Clemson
7 244 Tim Massaquoi TE Michigan

Davin Joseph has been a fine guard when healthy and Trueblood is good depth at OT. Gradkowski is nothing more then a backup QB in this league....One starter again.

1 4 Gaines Adams DE Clemson
    2 35 Arron Sears G Tennessee
2 64 Sabby Piscitelli SAF Oregon State
3 68 Quincy Black LB New Mexico
4 106 Tanard Jackson FS Syracuse
5 141 Greg Peterson DT North Carolina Central
6 182 Adam Hayward LB Portland State
    7 214 Chris Denman T Fresno State
7 245 Marcus Hamilton CB Virginia
7 246 Kenneth Darby RB Alabama

Tanard Jackson was looking like a great pick, but unfortunately he has personal troubles for quite some time now. another awful draft.

His only good draft came in his last year with the team.

1 20 Aqib Talib CB Kansas
2 58 Dexter Jackson WR Appalachian State
    3 83 Jeremy Zuttah G Rutgers
4 115 Dre Moore DT Maryland
5 160 Josh Johnson QB San Diego
6 175 Geno Hayes OLB Florida State
7 238 Cory Boyd RB South Carolina

They were able to get 3 starters out of that draft and some decent backups as well.

He had final say over Bruce Allen in TB..As you can tell from his drafts, and it was well known in Buc country, Jon did not believe in picking a QB early because he believed he could coach them up. Unfortunately, even though he is pretty good with QBs...it never worked for him.

In all, yes Glazers clamped on the money for the moves, but regardless, if Gruden has any final say in FO decisions, we will be ran into the ground. Fine Coach, he did go 11-5 with Chris Simms and Brian Grease at QB

    But..awful...awful...talent evaluator.

Don't try to put words on my keyboard, you're not a good enough writer for that. I care who our coach is, I DON'T care what we pay him.

My concern would be that the additional monies would come at the expense of adding a player or two. Basically Ross having an overall budget for football operations. That's what they did in 2010 as I understand it.

    Which means it's probably true.

Jeff Ireland reads that site daily. Everybody in the league does.

This isn't your father's PFT. PFT is now on of the most reliable websites for football info.
And read by many, many football people.

I've had enough of college coaches. No thanks. I'd just as soon keep Sparano or
give Nolan another whirl. No reason to pay a bust of an HC 7 mil. That's outlandish.

I wouldn't do it. I don't blame Ross at all for passing on Gruden and Harbaugh.

    You get rich by paying 1.00 for a 2.00 burger....Not 3.50 for a 2.00 burger.

    That's why he's rich and we're not.
