Ross headed to SF, will offer mega deal to Harbaugh [lots of updates in thread]

The Niners will go to 7 million a year. Trust me on that one. I don't care what they say, if they lose Harbaugh, they will b e in some serious trouble.

Ross flying all over the country is the first real move of his I have questioned (outside of letting Sparano twist).

I don't understand the Peterson hate at all...he was actually a REALLY good exec. I feel like the hate stems from the Surtain trade or something.

Or he is just a fool that can't see he is being used by Harbaugh.

Do you recall why Dansby said he signed here in Miami?

Pads, if Harbaugh does come to Miami I sure hope as hell you are going to give him a fair chance, because to be blunt if we have to constantly listen to you harping about him being a college coach day after day through the rest of winter and into spring and summer I am going to blow my brains out.

I dunno man, the Niners had to know we were willing to offer at least $7M and if they were willing to spend that much as well why didn't they do it from the get go, close the deal and give Ross no reason to fly to the west coast?

Because if you can get him for 2.5 million less annually...then you try to do so at the risk of possibly alienating him.

Bro, it is what it is, he is going to be the Dolphins Coach (more than likely) so of course I'll support the guy, and as I've said I think this yr's schedule is set up for success, but I also believe people are setting that expectations bar really high for a guy with no experience and who inherits the same problems as Sparano had, no Qb, no Oline to speak of, if Harbaugh can get us a Qb then I'll be fine with this move in the long term.

But keep in mind also, for all the complaining about Sparano he did have 7 wins for what was more than likely a 4 win team with the poor Qb play, if Harbaugh can fix that I'm all for it.

And I wonder how much of this is about Chad Henne developing into something as now if Sparano named him the Starter..boo! If Harbaugh does.."trust Harbaugh, he knows Qb's"

Ross was absent from that game. It was more important to him to be anywhere but there. I can't say as I blame him. He knew what was coming.

What FA are going to come here ? And at what price ? Do we have to overpay to get them here ? What is the new cap going to be ? Miami is not exactly the most attractive spot for FA's right now. This coaching search is making us look pretty unstable. FA will be turned off by that unless the money is outrageous.

After Ricky, BM and Hartline, and Jason Taylor I can't see the point in keeping Sparano regardless if Harbaugh is signed or not. What has gone public will basically KILL us landing any more top notch free agents.

That micromanaging crap works well for college kids and a team whose roster is 1st or 2nd year players. But when the roster is full of men with 5 or more years experience that kind of coaching is destructive. Nick Saban was the perfect example. Great college coach, but sucked in the pros. Grown men get tired of nitpicking real quick. Rather than having the effect of motivating players it has the effect of them thinking, "Shut the **** up!"

Then it's probably a bad play on the Niners part unless they are not as high on him as we have heard, but if Harbaugh was their #1 choice I think their best chance at landing him was hours ago because I think he would have shaked York's hand at $7M a year before dinner and Ross got on the airplane.

But what do we honestly do we know, there are probably so many different variables we aren't even aware of.

Again you are satisfied with a 4th year coach that just gets a winning record ? It might be pitch fork & torches time again. What has happened to our fanbase that they are satisfied with that ? During the Shula years it wasn't IF we got to the playoffs, it was would we have home field advantage that year. God we have such a woosyfied fanbase anymore.

    Nope.

No need to keep Sparano around at all then if Nolan was the last resort. If they can't get Harbaugh, Gruden or Cowher then they really do want to continue with Sparano.

I think you are confusing people's excitement at change - better or for worse - that is more than welcomed after two miserable years of watching bad football, don't read too much into it. And I don't think anyone has forgotten Saban but when you allow trends to dictate what moves to make it's the equivalent of playing not to lose. Trends are meant to be buckled and broken.

I'm ok if we are wildcard. We're in the same division as the Pats. I don't think that's
a bad thing. We are in a very competetive division...The AFC East is brutal. If Tony doesn't
get us to the wildcard next year? Ok. Bye. Time to go.

    That's just me though.

    Good point.

I this situation, by waiting a week or whatever and not walking away, he collects the rest of his contract. Basically $3 million or whatever whether he works or not. If he works elsewhere, Miami is picking up the difference.

Where is the $6.5 figure coming from? The 49'ers fans are following a guy who has stated it's a $5 million/5 year contract offer. That seems to be what the 49'er fans feel is legit. They don't see York spending much more then that.

Well it's pretty obvious if he's going to Harbaugh that this is who he wants.
I applaud him for having the gonads to go for it.

I agree with you on the trends, for me when the pats peddled moss and went with woodhead and edelman and welker et al, they had switched philosophies to counter what we were doing, "it's a large man's game" was meeting those waterbugs and the effect was similar to Duper and Clayton being under 6'0 and running away from the Donnie Shell's of the NFL.

We kept doing what we were doing they would kill us, we would be lucky to split games most yrs, that is not good enough.

well come on man. is Dansby going to slag Parcells or anyone assoicated with the Phins after they just made him one of the highest paid players at his position? Parcells is an over rated executive. good HC.
