What else is he going to say?

"Thanks for 5 hrs of your time, sorry for wasting it, Ross is offering me a boatload of cash!"

If it wasn't the fact Ross wouldn't have to pay him if he quits, he probally would have.......

FA's would sign here to "play for Parcells he is a legend", that is now gone.

Well it is San Fran and their own media is reporting 5 years/$5 million a year. Could easily explain why Harbaugh isn't signed yet considering he wants back in the NFL......not another college gig.

Wow, how did you get that out of what I said?? Anytime I hear someone use the term respect in that manner it sounds like they are extending a courtesy and not serious about meeting them at all but like I said I am probably reading too much into it.

So what your saying is guys with no NFL head coaching experience can't be successful at it?

How about John Harbaugh? How's he doing in Baltimore?

Is Raheem Moore floundering in TB?

Does Pitt regret hiring Mike Tomlin?

Some of these bright, young minds are impressive.

Yeah, Saban was a Belicheck hire in Cleveland and won a title at LSU, Harbaugh had some nfl gigs as a offensive assistant and developed the best Qb in the country.

Kind of a tossup I guess.

I'm seeing that SF was ready to offer 5-years/$5 million and thought he'd take it till Ross jumped in his plane. Kawakami alludes that they'll go as high as $7 million.

I plan to come back as an NFL coach or a hot chick in my next life.

Hartline was diplomatic and didn't throw Sparano directly under the bus. I was reading between the lines...perhaps inaccurately with:

Hartline echoed Marshall’s sentiments earlier in the day on his radio show with Gino Torretta, saying that the Dolphins had “one side sticking to their guns, sticking to the gameplan to a T. We kind of got to the point where we got to make some plays off schedule, we’ve got to adjust some routes, we’ve got to make things happen.”

My presumption is one side referred to Henne, Lee, Henning, and Sparano. Hartline may have only meant Henne and Lee. Given the lack of imaginative game planning and hearing Williams and JT's talk about Sparano micromanaging creating a negative work environment I just don't see any top notch free agents wanting to play under Sparano. Unless they received offers far and above that from any other club.

We got to see what happens this year. We didn't get "the Beast" that played for the Broncos the past year. We got a frustrated player whose attitudes on the field just contributed to the problems already created with poor game plans.

Well now Harbaugh is starting from square #1, in the 00's one of the major problems we had was being forced to overpay for FA's when they would even sign here due to the turmoil and some perceptions among FA's.

If Ross is indeed offering $7 million + a year I guess that kills that whole conspiracy theory that Ross was in financial trouble lol.

Do we know the specifics of the contract, because along these lines, maybe Ross is doing him a favor by letting him stay on longer, maybe it allows him to collect more money?

I could be wrong, but could this be a possibility? Maybe Ross is doing the right thing, it just seems that a bunch of people just want it to be a negative thing.

It's sad that we may not even sign Harbaugh and people already have him quitting on us. :pity:

the killer is he is looking for miami dade hotel taxes to pay for his refurbishing of the stadium

To refurbish its stadium, the Dolphins want hotel taxes from Miami-Dade and Broward. That will require a change in state law, and a major debate by the tourism industry and public.

NFL coaches contracts are guaranteed. He gets paid no matter what.

Thanks, I wasn't sure - and as I said in the other thread, maybe Sparano and Ross have talked, and maybe Sparano wants to stay on in case other things don't work out.

    The latest

    http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawaka...ut-to-lose-harbaugh-to-miami-and-7-8m-a-year/

Basically, Pete Carroll got $6 million last year from Paul Allen. And just like NFL free agents, they see what the last guy got as the bar. Especially if they're perceived to be a hotter commodity.

I remember Harbaugh walking to the podium with a big old shiner, after Jim Kelly kicked his A$$ for calling him soft, So at least we know he has the balls to step up and face the music after a woopin. I would bet that scrutiny will come pretty quickly with the majority of this fanbase maybe even after a game or two. If we do sign him......GOOD LUCK JIM.

If we landed Harbaugh for like $7M, I wonder what kind of ripple effect that would on future coaching contracts around the league (obviously Sparano's was more in line with the norm).
