Really, our their fans better educated or just well endowed?

They can say whatever they want. But we have a guy they drafted in round 2 in 06 and the guy that was second on their team in tackles and started all 16 games. He also has over 100 tackles in 5 straight seasons. That speaks louder to me than anything a Cowboy fan has to say. Not to mention that unlike some I trust our coaching staff and especially feel "safe" when BP, Irleand, and Sparano go after a former player. They are the ones that know value, not me, you, or a Cowboy fan.

How many TE's in the NFL could have started in Dallas with Witten there? C'mon!:sidelol:

hmm maybe because the cowboys have Jason Witten?? One of the best TE's in the game. And because we were 1 and 15? while dallas was a playoff team... they simply have more talent. Do some research on Fasano, theres nothing wrong with him as a TE.

Zach is how old now?? Ayodele is only 28 or 29, and knows the defensive system we'd be running. Akin has at least 5 years left, if not more, Zach is probably done after this year, and his concussion problem is a concern.

As for the talent in the Draft... with a 4th round pick, its a chance that your 4th round pick starts for you. we traded (or "drafted" if you like) two players today that will end up starting for us with one draft pick, which may end up being replaced down the line if JT gets moved.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this move we made tonight.

Great trade we get two players at positions we lack for a 4th round pick and both are likely going to start. I do hope Fasano reaches his potential because if he does this trade will be an absolute steal and we know what we are getting with Ayodele who is a solid player.

    Great trade.

Exactly. I mean Sparano and Ireland both were with the Cowboys LAST YEAR. I would like to think that they are better at evaluating those specific players than any fan. If for no other reason than familiarity.

Are you guys kidding me? I absolutely LOVE this trade.

I think Fasano could be a perfect fit, best all around TE we have had....well, in ever.
And Ayodele is another linebacker we can use in odd formations and special teams....

Well it looks like Parcells is continuing to - us... he spent a 2nd on Fasano and then we let him and a starting LB go for a 4th?

Who the F**** authorized that trade? Jerry must be playing with the strings again b/c I don't think Phillips is that stupid.

It looks like Carpenter's time has come, but I'm more pissed that we are letting Fasano, a solid TE, go for basically nothing...

lol I was reading their reactions on there and one guy said something like:

"I'm half tooned (Cowgirl slang for stoned maybe? idk) and I dont feel like reading this so can someone sum it up for me?"

    Another guy responds with:

"Go smoke another bowl and get some sleep. You have to get up bright and early to serve me my Egg McMuffin in the morning."

LMAO.... If a trade is that much in our favor that it makes Dallas fans turn on each other then its killing two birds with one stone. That was one of the funniest things Ive read in a long time.

What is the problem? We have two players that can contribute more than any fourth rounder we've had in Miami for a long time.

Both of these guys can play. Fasano was stuck behind Witten, and All Pro. Ayodele is a guy that can give us valuable minutes. I very much like this trade.

You need every pick? Why? To get players? Hmmmm...he just got us two STARTERS with one fourth round picks. If you can get two starters with each pick, hell, trade them all.

Its not like we traded a second rounder for both of these guys. But let's look at some of the picks we've traded in the past. A fourth to move up ONE spot to pick Vernon Carey. A second for AJ Feeley. A second for Duante Culpepper. A fifth for Trent Green. And in all cases, our FO had ZERO real knowledge of these guys. Thats why we were 1-15.

This FO knows exactly what we are getting with both players. We have the coaches who coached them and the scouts who scouted them. These are guys whose jobs depend on us winning. If Fasano couldn't play, who more to know it than Parcells, Ireland, and Sparano? If Ayodele couldn't play, who better to know it than Parcells, Ireland, Pasqualoni, and Tony Knowles?

On the face of it, its a good trade. When you look deeper, with the knowledge the FO and coaching staff have of these players, its even better. After what we've been through here since Jimmy Johnson for you guys to be complaining about this is just mind-boggling.

...or a second. If we could get a second rounder for JT, I'd be happy with that. I think when talking JT, we have to also consider JT in all of this. He needs to be on a contender. We need players who by next year can really contribute.

I think the FO started the negotiations by stating it would be a first round. But, if someone wants him and has a second, I think we listen. And maybe we negotiate a second and a fifth or sixth rounder.

Good post. And if you can't be positive, use common sense. This was an excellent trade for us and the Cowboys. They have Witten, an All Pro. They just signed ZT. With his history of concussions, for my money, I'd rather gamble on Ayodele.

    I am celebrating as well.

Just imagine some of these people if we draft Henne in the second round...:sidelol: They are going to be on suicide watch.

To real football people, (like those in the club) this was an excellent trade.

I'll celebrate this trade all day bc we definitely made out very nicely. But if we take Henne with our first 2nd rounder or trade JT to use that pick to get him, I'm going to be pissed.

In the words of Mick Jagger...You can't always get what you want. :wink2:

Look, don't fall in love with players...esp college players who've never played a down for us. Look at the bigger picture and how each player we get fits the puzzle.

On offense, we've added a big time possession WR in Wilford, a franchise LT, a starting RG in Smiley, a pass catching TE in Fasano, and a legit backup QB in McCown.

On defense, we've added Torbor and now Ayodele to a thin LB corps. We've also added Jason Ferguson and Randy Starks to a thin DL.

And we still have at least two second round picks tomorrow. If we trade down at 32 or trade JT or both, we'll have more.

We've added a coaching staff that was in the playoffs the past two seasons. We've got a legend overseeing this operation.

I think its fair to ask...whats not to like about whats happened so far?

There's only maybe three or four TEs in the league that would start over Witten. As the "trade" of ZT for Akin Ayodele, I don't how you so easily dismiss AA. ZT is one concussion away from being retired.

We have a young QB (whomever is the starter). Young QBs need three things primarily. One, protection. With Long and Smiley, I think thats been addressed. Two, a running game. With Ronnie rehabbing, and the OL improvements, I think thats been addressed. Next, they need reliable short range targets.I think Fasano gives us that.

How anyone can look at this week and conclude that this hasn't been a great week of improvement for our offense is just beyond me.

ROFL..well said Rick. I think FTP actually gets it right when he says, "suddenly, we're better."

That is actually correct. We went from having a horrible offensive line, no pass catching TE, not very good WRs, and a pathetic coaching staff to where we are now.

If you went away on January 1 of this year and just came back to look at the changes in Miami since January, I think any intelligent person would conclude..."Suddenly, we are better."

And we still have two second rounders and a third.

I guess thats they are the final arbiter in this regard...oh wait. Our coaching staff ACTUALLY coached these guys last year. Our GM ACTUALLY scouted and drafted Fasano and signed a FA Ayodele. Oh heck, what do they know?

Yeah, to hell with this trade. If Cowboys fans like something they did then it MUST be bad for us.

    I hear ya.

But understand the FO's position on this. For QBs, we have John Beck and Josh McCown. Talented players? Yes. Proven? Not close.

I don't know what you do, but would you be willing to be fired from you job if John Beck or Josh McCown don't pan out? Probably not. Its the same with the FO. Unless they see something in Beck or McCown that we haven't seen yet, I expect them to pick a QB.

I have no idea what this FO is thinking. But I think based on past performances and their performance so far in this daft and FA, they've earned the benefit of the doubt.

I trust Parcells, Ireland, and Sparano more than I do anyone on this board. And if they think picking Henne is the ticket, then I'll trust their judgement until proven otherwise.

It doesnt make sense to take another unproven guy like Henne or Flacco. Beck is unproven too but has had a little experience and put in more work with our team. Why waste another 2nd rounder for another unproven guy when thats exactly what we have in Beck?

If Beck and McCown dont get it done or look anywhere close to growing into our future QB then pick another QB next year. This year, focus on one of the other dozen positions we need to address.

What a tremendous, tremendous deal. For a FOURTH ROUNDER? Are you kidding me? That's daylight robbery to get a 2nd round tight end stuck behind the best tight end in the game and an ILB aged 28 who can rush the passer outside as well. Two instant starters.......what a great start to draft day!

I have no idea if we'll take a QB. But, it sort of does make sense. As you say, Beck is unproven. But also know that the coaches aren't like us insomuch that they've seen players in Beck's situtation. They aren't steering blindly. They have a pretty good idea in their minds if he can play or not. These are also the same people who developed Tony Romo.

If this was Wannstedt, or Saban, or Cameron, we might be right to second guess before the draft. But this isn't these guys. This is Parcells, and Ireland, and Sparano.

    Have faith young man.

I think that says it all. If we don't draft a QB in the first two rounds this draft, it will only be because the FO doesn't think there is one worth having and wants to wait till next year.

I personally like the trade for the fact that I truly believe that there will be picks recooped for JT. Besides, we might be helping Dallas load up so they can trade up to take Mcfadden, which could help us out by keeping him away from the Jets. I don't like not having any picks in 4 or 5, but I think we can regain some by a second day deal for the start of the 3rd round. All in all, we got 2 young guys who can fill roster needs for one mid level pick
