Well, hopefully this is great news.

BUT...I can't help a little voice inside my brain from whispering "Remember Saban?"

I'm not calling you out in particular, but the Saban sentiment more or less.

To me, comparing the two situations is too easy. It's too easy to say "because he's a college coach that is coming to the NFL, he'll wind up like Nick Saban, someone who we are all familiar with." It's like a good amount of people in this world comparing all black quarterbacks to Mike Vick... because they're black. I know this is a touchy subject, but I know it happens a lot.

I think this thought process is a playing not to lose mentality. With this thought process, the San Diego Chargers would have never taken Philip Rivers (or Eli Manning, if you wanna play this game) simply because of the failure of Ryan Leaf. I think it's unfair to Harbaugh to act as if he will turn out the same as Saban's NFL tenure.

I think Harbaugh can be a winner. He wants to be in the NFL. The NFL was his goal. I think if Jim Harbaugh is the head coach of the Miami Dolphins, he will be successful.

Unreal, Rosss sure can be persuasive. If he pulls it off, it would be like that scene in Dumb and Dumber...

Harry represents the fanbase, Lloyd represents Ross and the scooter being Harbaugh, of course.

Oh yeah, Aspen would be the Superbowl. Pffft! He's even got a big briefcase full of cash (hahaha).

probably will use this against us. Take the offer to San Fran to up the anti. While I like the idea of him as coach im scared were spending all the money we want for free agents on an NFL coaching rookie.

I would love to get Harbaugh, but I am extremely disappointed with how this has been handled by Ross and Company. This will leave a stain on this organization's reputation for a long time.

I don't follow college much anymore, outside of Ohio State and the draft. But, I watched Stanford and VaTech play. Doesn't Harbaugh run the Stanford offense completely? If so, I think he will solve every problem we have on offense. He runs a crazy complex offense at Stanford, which won't make us predictable every damn drive, like we are now. Plus, with a decent, healthy supporting cast around Henne, I think Henne would be great with Harbaugh.

What a perfect off season for a coaching staff if everything goes as planned now.

    Henning- Gone
    Sparano- Gone
    Bowles- Gone
    Nolan- Stays
    Ireland- Stays
    Harbaugh- New HC

Personally although I can somewhat understand why, I wish Cowher wasn't so much of a diva about Ireland. No matter the outcome, with Henning gone, "addition by subtraction" is inevitable.

If this happens, congrats to you all. I am glad it isn't Cowher or Gruden, but that doesn't mean Harbaugh won't be a good coach. I just already know the other two are.

Still need an offensive coordinator. He can not do it all. an NFL head coach has alot more minutia than a college coach and much higher expectations.

College coaches generally aren't successful in the NFL and we have had two of them in the last part of the decade so yeah it is okay to say the situations mirror each other. Another rookie HC is a tough thing to predict. I'll have to live with it even if I don't like the idea at all.

Not a chance! Did you miss this entire season? Henne was struggling so bad they had to cut the field in half and reduce his reads. Weekly Sparano was hinting Henne was making the incorrect calls on the run pass option. Not to mention they wouldn't even let the guy audible! Henne is done as he starter! Well unless Harbaugh hA a magic wand that makes brains, talent, leadership, poise, vision, and accuracy!

7-8 million dollars a year for a rookie HC.
    That is insanity.

You do realize that Ross' net worth is $3.4 billion and, if I am not mistaken, second in the league. Most NFL owners are just over $1 billion.

Complex enough that the center, Beeler, along with the QB (Luck) have plays on wrist bands. 300+ plays they said per game.

Well take comfort in this, the most success a 1st yr college to NFL HC had was..Nick Saban.

You could say Barry Switzer, but he was handed a SB team.
